I know that Christmas to New Years constitute the busiest time of the year for the Disney parks. My question....how crowded is Jan. 2nd......or rather, how many days does it take the crowds to taper off after New Years. I noticed that value season starts Jan. 1 so I assume that the crowds break up really quickly. Anyone experienced the parks Jan. 2- Jan 7? Will there be a crowd? Thanks! Karen

Hi Kaabost -

We were at WDW 12-27 thru 1-6 in 2000. The crowds were high thru the New Year's weekend, but doable. Jan 1 was Sat and Jan 2 was Sunday. But Monday morning was empty! The next few days we had the place to ourselves - but the hours at the parks changed dramatically. Also a few attractions only opened on certain days. (Ex. Country Bears would only open on the weekends).

We also lucked out with gorgeous weather!

Wow, thanks for the great reply! Anyone else experience the parks during this time? Can I assume that this will happen every year?

January 2 is moderate, and unless the 3rd falls on a Saturday, it's usually pretty dead from there on.

It all depends on what day of the week the 2nd is. People will usually stay at WDW through the weekend. January 2nd will be a Friday this year and I expect it to be just as crowded as the previous week. Things really don't slow down until the Monday after NYE.

I was there this past January 1 thru 6. On the 2nd we were at MGM and I haven't seen it that crowded in a long time. All I can say is thank goodness for fast pass. On the other hand we spent Sunday (the 5th) at AK and it was the quietest I had ever seen. We walked onto practically everything.
