I know we have to be there on the 19th, but have not made any reservations yet. Last Jan we were booked at POFQ for the AAA rate of @ $115, then a code came out and we got it for $79. I really want to stay at the Polynesion as it will be the last year we will all fit into 1 room.

Ohhh....I'm keeping my fingers crossed for this kind of deal. We're booked at POFQ with AAA rate at $111 per night. $79 would be FANTASTIC!!!

TnTWalter,
There is no free dining available for any stays starting after Oct 4. The free dining was good for check-ins starting Aug 21-Oct 4. ETA it was not for AP holders. It was done for people booking packages (rack rate hotel, at least 1 day of passes...packages have to be paid off 45 days in advance of your arrival as well).

I'm looking at going sometime between Jan 18 and Feb 4. I haven't decided on actual dates yet, but after my upcoming trip I hope to have a better idea on when and how long I want to go for.

No pin numbers for us (sigh) :sad1: Oh well... at least we were able to get AAA rates. Still got my fingers crossed for a whopper of a general code though.

Did you have to have a code to use the free dining plan or could anyone call WDW and use it? I really want to go in 2006 and the free dining would be great! I never get codes emailed to me.

Thanks
Aryn

I think it was a public promotion to get people to show up during periods when (I'm suspecting) Disney's attendence projections were down -- not a PIN. We can all hope something like this might materialize for our dates -- the month after the holidays is often a time when many people are economizing so it seems likely that discretionary leisure travel might not be too heavy. Keep your fingers crossed.

I see the word "bump" posted every so often & I'm baffled. What is its significance? :confused3

Magnetgirl, when are you going in Jan.? We live in the U.P. and are going Jan. 24-Feb.1. Are you having the crazy fall weather we are? 90's in Sept. is nuts for up here. GO PACKERS!

Hi!!!
DH and I are going Jan. 16- Jan. 23. We want to be there for our 3rd anniversary (Jan.22). We're staying at POR. I requested a building close to the main restaurant to try to keep walking time short and be near a quiet pool. Hopefully, this is a good idea. Any advice???
We just booked tickets on Midwest Express. They are having a sale now for fall/winter including Jan. 2006.

Go PACK Go! :cheer2:
It's been hot and humid in central WI. Definitely crazzzzy :earseek:

It's a way of moving the thread up in the list. Since threads are listed on the pages in order of their most recent reply, if a thread has not had a reply in a while, it can move several screens down. So, people will sometimes post a reply not to add anything new, but just to "bump" the message up to the top of the list. This is usually the case for threads that people want more feedback on (e.g. no one has replied yet, but the original poster still has the question), or that are something that will be generally helpful to a lot of people, where multiple threads might be a problem (e.g. you wouldn't want two "Code Watch" threads for January, or people would have to post in/check both).

I really wish we could go to WL. Unfortunately, with no codes, it's just a little price prohibitive this time. Thankfully, though, my grandparents are late 60's/early 70's and have no mobility problems.

Maybe if - no WHEN - codes come out, we can book WL!

It is wonderful your grandparents are still in good heath. However if your grandparents are not use to walking an adverage of 5-6 miles a day I suggest they might want to concider renting an EVC
(Electric scooter) from an offsite company.
They could share it thus giving each of them a chance to get off their feet for a little while.
I have a disability and have rented mine from Care Medical (800-741-2282) and Walker Mobility (888-726-6837) in the past. I would recommend either one. The cost is about $30 a day. The ones at the parks cost $35 a day and are bigger and have 4 wheels kinda like a golf card. They are harder to steer and to control. If they rent from an offsite rental they will deliver the EVC to bell services at the resort. They could use it to go to the pool, and get around the resort as well as the bus stop.
Almost all the Disney buses are accessible. I love using my EVC it gives me more independence and helps keep my pain to a minimum. If they decide to rent an EVC (which I highly recommend) they can practice using one at a local store such as Wal Mart or Target. Those are a little bigger than the rental ones but the practice will help.
Have a wonderful time at Disney!

Magnetgirl,
Location at POR depends on if you want to be in the Mansions or not. Your request is fine, but if you want the Mansions you might want to request to be as close to a bridge, preferrably the one on the side by the main pool if you plan to use it alot.
We usually get off the bus on the way back from the parks at the main stop where you check in because we like to check out the store or grab something to eat for the room. If you are a big milk drinker, it is cheaper to buy the bottles at the store than in the food court, they are the same thing, just cheaper. Depending on how long you will be there, refillable mugs are a good bargain. We take ours to the park with us and that way we don't have to go back to the room for them at the end of the day. Have fun!!! It's a beautiful resort.

yea yea ...hubby and i wanna go again before our aps run out...we leave in 10 days for a 9 day trip with the kids..but we want to go one more time just the two of us....

I got a pretty good AAA rate but I'm always on the lookout for a better rate. January codes please!!!

When do codes usually come out? I was thinking like maybe the same time as the Jan hours come out ie: October? Also when did the free dining come out? I mean how far in advance compared to the time frame it could be used. Thanks

The free dining promo was run twice. Once was in July and then again in Aug.

I have been watching when codes appear for the past 2 years (we like to travel posh but are lacking in funding)...From what I noticed there are codes for fall in August and codes for Winter/ Early Spring posted right after new years...Usually Jan 5th or so. Last year we got a code in Jan that got us a stay at the WL for 40% off! Wahoo! Personally, I am hoping they will do a rerun of the food promo. If you go with a large group it saves $100s!

Going to BW sooo soon!

So do you just book your room and hope for the best? Or do you just wait and see? If my rooms are already booked, can't I just apply a code if one comes out? Also if my rooms are discounted room only rates with AAA and they end up offering a package like "free dining" don't I have to upgrade to paying rack rates then for the room? Thanks a lot. Good luck in the rate watching!!! Keep us posted!!

It's probably best to book at the best rate that you are willing to pay and then hope for an even better code or deal of some kind.

I believe that with the room only, you'd have to cancel and then rebook for whatever package deal comes out. And I believe you can still get a AAA deal on the room with the "dining" but only by purchasing a package through AAA. You can not get it through WDW Travel.
