Jan.2006 code watch!!

Our trip is 1/3-1/10. We will be there for my BIL's wedding, and were asked by the happy couple to book with the rest of the wedding party through Group Reservations - POR for $118.

I was upset thinking that we could have done better using other discounts, but after reading the thread, I almost feel lucky to get any discount at all!

WEATHER QUESTION:
We have never been in FL in January. What exactly is the weather like? Shorts, capris, pants? Pool are heated and all, but is swimming possible? How heavy a jacket?

We have been in January many times. The weather can vary. Once it was 29 degrees! Good thing we brought jackets and gloves! But on the same trip it was about 70 one day and we went swimming. We are from Boston so we think 70 is hot! Just bring layers and you will be all set.

Got an excellent Internet Only fare @ Southwest.com -- about $207 RT with security fees etc. ($94 each way before fees) from Phoenix. I was prepared to pay $149 each way so it was a big honkin' thrill to get a quote of $94. Gotta LOVE Southwest!!!!! tee-hee

Neither applied in this case. Just dumb luck -- I saw they're giving out double frequent flyer credits for trips booked now till ??? (I'm thinkin' November sometime but please don't quote me) and that they were accepting reservations up to early February so I popped on to their reservations website and Holy Smokes! there it was. Just goes to show sometimes it's better to be real lucky than to be real smart.

Kris & Steve ~ From time to time Disney will release "codes" (three or 4 letters) that you can apply to your reservation (or use at placing a new ressie) that will get you a discount.
However, its not like they'll be a huge banner on disneyworld.com saying "Hey everyone use FSAD and save $45 off Riverside". That's where TA's like Dreams Unlimted and sites like mousesavers.com come into play.
This year, they seem to be discounting packages instead of room-only ressies.
Take a read of Mousesavers, and Mary makes the whole Code thing very easy to understand.

I got us a great deal on Southwest too. Direct from Providence to Orlando -total, with taxes and everything for my husband and I is $310!!! I was so excited. I was hoping for something around $500 total, so $310 was fantastic!!!

How come everytime I get a DING it's only good till sometime in Dec.. how did you get a DING for in Jan? So far they have opened up till Feb 3rd but nothing good, just one flight (pricely) out of New Orleans.. hopeing for some more fares soon! POSSIBLY a DING too?!

I don't think there have been any DING's beyond Jan. 9th as of yet. I think Tinkerbell32 was refering to a DING code that she got prior to that date and is still waiting for one for her January dates.

It has been kind of weird because for that whole week (aboout a week and a half ago) they had several flights through the 9th of Jan. I finally got a ding for Kansas City. I booked immediately! Then after that day(or so it seems) they have gone back to mid Dec. flights. Don't get me wrong, I'm grateful for getting our low fares, or else we wouldn't be going back so soon. I'll be spreading some pixie dust for us all to get a good resort discount code. Jennifer

I thought that was odd also. Today the Ding's only go to Dec 16., but I know last week one went to Feb 3. Our return date is Feb 5th and I got all excited thinking I was getting close. Did anyone else got the 5% code for AA? Still won't beat ding but at least they are offering something.

While I'm typing does anyone want to guess if the new codes will be extended into Jan or Feb? Seems like a pretty good deal but I think I am still hopeful for free dinning. DS 12 is ALWAYS hungry!
