COOL!!! I've been looking at maps and pics, and I'm thinking that maybe I should request an upgrade from Standard to Pool View if we can get something in this general area of the Giraffe Trail. It appears as if you get a good view of the pool, a partial view of the Uzima Savanna, a view of EE, AND you'd be very close to busses and lobby/restaurants!!!

Hmmm...after reading SuAnne's trip report, it seems as if the very FAR pool view rooms on the Giraffe Trail (#034 and 036) might not be as good as the ones a little closer to the lobby (#030, 032).

THANKS, Cass!

You're welcome :)

Man,you'd really feel like you were in Africa with a jungle view like that and Kilimanjaro in the distance!

What are the AP rates that everyone got for December. Don't forget to tell us the room type!!!!

Weather report: Over the weekend, we had our heat on...today, air conditioning and Mickey ponchos close at hand. So, to you travellers heading out, be prepared! The weather has got more ups and downs than EE!!!!

Zebra domes are at Mara?! Ooh, well, shows you the last time I was in there! The only time I see Mara is when I am trying to catch up to my son, who is making a Bee line for Simba's! It's all a blur.

Hey, two posts in a row by me...five hours apart! Is everyone else at AKL? ;)

This week's AllEars Newsletter has a guest claiming that as a NON-Concierge guest, she and her husband were able to book the Sunset Safari. Since DW and I are not planning Concierge next month but would love to do the Safari, I like to determine if this is true!

Gosh-- I wonder if that was true in October... if it was, I wish I knew it when I was there!
I thought the Sunset safari was the one where there were only 8 people, followed by dinner at Jiko?
Wouldn't it make more sense to open up the Sunrise Safari, which is much bigger?

I just talked to my DU agent, and she checked into it for me. It appears that SOMETIMES if they are not sold out, they will offer the safari to other guests. So, it looks like they do it in a way to ensure that concierge gets priority!

...from a parallel thread!

December is almost here - we spent last Christmas at AKL - I can smell the lobby, taste the food at Boma, and see the animals from the room balcony. Oh, wish I were going back again this year! Sigh :) Need a disney fix...

Hi guys! :wave2: Question for those in the know.
I spoke with Juanita today and being as the Adventures club is only on Wednesdays and that is one day we won't be able to get back to the resort mid day for our DS to go to. Dhe did say that there are activities every day around the resort and that we'll get a list of what is happening when we check in as well as knowing to check the "board" daily for times. She also said that some of the activities revolve around a birdhouse, sometimes an ostrich egg and other times other things. I know my son would desperatly LOVE to decorate an egg (very artistically inclined like his mommy :goodvibes ) and I'm not expecting for it to be an activity that we'll get to though we'll try to if it's there. Does anyone know if they sell egg decorating kits on the store? It would be a NEAT present if we can't get him to one of the actitiies with it. ALSO, can Don or Juanita possibly arrange to get one for him (we'll pay of course)? That could be a really neat surprise hen we arrive at concierge. I'll ask them of course but though your all knowing AKL gurus would be able to provide answers for impatient me! :goodvibes I always think of these thinsg late at night.
I have my DIS lanyard now and am making the HD Mickey tag to go on it so I'll look for others while there.

Ronald Duck and all those asking about the Sunset Safari/Jiko dinner...I was going to do this for my fiance on his birthday. I talked with Steve, the manager for Jiko, etc., and he said just book it. Steve knows we live locally and weren't staying at the resort (no concierge), so I think it may be truth versus rumor!

PPony--have not seen any egg decorating kits in Zawadi. But that means nothing. I am usually blinded by the artwork and the Penzo pottery and lose sight of reality when I get in there. The activities are listed right near the bell station on your left as you enter AKL, as well as downstairs to the left of the restrooms near Boma. Not sure about the egg thing.

Oh my gosh. I can't believe it. Today's the day! Well actually tomorrow's the day, but today's the day we drive down to Syracuse for our flight tomorrow. Tomorrow at this time I'll be sitting in an airport waiting to board. :) All the laundry that I'm going to do is done. I think I'm all packed. I hope I remembered everything. At noon, we go pick my daughter up from school and then we head out!

I've never been to AKL before. I can't wait to see it!
