I'll be there on the 20th, next month, for a week! I just switched from CSR to AKL this morning(umm 20 minutes ago)
I couldn't pass up the great AP discount for a pool view!

Just wanted to join in all the excitement. We leave for a long weekend in 3 days to AKL it will be our first time staying there and we can hardly wait. I just saw the picture of the lobby with the Christmas tree and WOW it is beautiful.

You know, R. Duck, I have NEVER had a ZD! In reading posts throughout the years, I know they're a big hit. If I can remember, they are in Boma, correct? Now that we live here, we don't get to stay at AKL very often (although I cannot wait till the DVC units are ready!!!). So, whenever we go out there, it's to eat at Jiko or sit at VF with Lorna and the gang and order food there. We have eaten at Boma only when staying there, so it's been a while. Can I just walk into Boma anytime and pick up a ZD? I know I could do some damage at the gift shop there. That Penzo pottery is calling my name. Or perhaps a new AKL tee for Ben! His old one is getting too small and tattered.

USEWICKHOUSE -- You will have died and gone to heaven once staying at AKL! I am sure my fellow posters will back me up on this one. Enjoy, relax, now that's an order! Once I took one look at the architecture and decor, I vowed to have my house look like a mix between AKL and the Adventurer's Club!

You'll want to be on the Zebra trail side which is the side where the elevators are located. Make sure CRO notes that you're requesting this for limited mobility issues with the DGF. Arusha Rock - which is the main savannah. It'll be on the Zebra trail side. Try requesting a 4th floor view as well.

WHat is the difference between 2d floor and 4th floor re: view/ noise etc? The Cm I spoke to said 2d floor is better b/c closer to animalss ?

You can pick up ZDs to go at the Mara, along with some Chocolate Crunch! Mmmmmm

Hi Dreamer, the 4th floor you get a more panoramic view of the savanna & animals but from 2 you get a much closer look.

I think both have their good points and you can't go wrong. There are lots of public viewing areas around the hotel for a different perspective.

I swear this last few weeks of waiting for my Disney trip have been the longest of my life. Pregnancy went faster

Thanks we plan to savor every moment! I am so excited I can not contain my joy!!! There is nothing better than being at WDW during the Holiday Season. This weekend is also our 12 Anniversary so it will just be Magic!!

BTW, have any of you AKL vets ever had (or know of) a room from which you could see Expedition Everest? I've viewed two AKL room view pics posted where you can see EE in the distance and I think it's REALLY cool and only adds to the atmosphere. From what I can tell, there are some northeast-facing pool view rooms at the end of the Giraffe Trail which have views of it...are there any other rooms you know of?
