Just wanted to thank everyone for all the I help I got from this thread. I just changed my room to a 5th floor arusha savannah view. In the end we are going here for the view not the lounge. So thanks for all the tips. I also booked the sunrise safari.

Kimmar I am jealous you leave tomorrow. Have a great trip and take lots of pictures.

I am wondering when the free dineing ends so I know if I need to book all my ressies now or if I can wait. We are going in November and were not offered a free dineing option just the dineing plan which I didnt sign up for. Did I make a mistake with that? It seemed a like to much food and a little over priced for us.

WOOHOO!!! One more 'sleep' and we are on our way.... :woohoo:

....I supose that everyone has heard about the 21 people arrested in the UK for the plot to blow up airplanes....since my DS and his 2 friends are flying on SATURDAY, instead of going by car tomorrow, we are gonna have to bring all his hair gels, shampoo, and other liquids in the car with US..... :confused3

It's so scary....I used to live in New York City, I can't even imagine how chaotic it must be there today. They usually HIGHLY increase the security on all public transit when anything happens...

That's a great idea bout taking all the gels, lotions, etc. with you guys in the car. Hopefully there will be no serious stalls at security and the flights will be smooth!

And as a side note: We received our dinner confirmations in the mail yesterday! :yay: My fiance text messaged me this morning and said "We got mail from Disney World!" He almost called me at 6:00 am just to tell me...hee hee!

Yes Wendy, they really are that busy during free dining. I've been trying for over a month to get dinner ressies at Boma during our stay and they're booked. I call almost every day, just in case. And it's just me and my DD8, not like we take up much room!

I've heard some restaurants have lots of open time but some of the most popular places are really booked.

It just seems odd to me ~~ I guess because about 2 weeks ago, maybe less, I called and changed 50's PT to Boma, NO problem at all, even got the day and time we wanted!! :confused3 I'm just wondering why it seems to be so hard for others??? You'll be there the same time as me, right???

Anyway, this only falls into 2 days of our trip, we check in on the 2nd and this goes thru the 4th.

You got your dinner confirmation??? How??? I've Never gotten written confirmation of dinner reservations??? When I book, they give me the confirm # and that's it ~~ Nothing in writing!!! I'm just wondering how you got it, so I can get it!!!

Actually, we're going Sept. 27-30. I think that week is rather busy because it's the end of free dining, MNSSHP & F&W Festival? Who knows? All I DO know is, each day I call and still nothing available for us at Boma. But I haven't given up hope yet!

I think the NO LIQUIDS was only for carry-on bags. (The terrorists intended to MIX the different liquids, thus, making them flammable)

You should be able to take liguids (certain rules apply) in a checked bag. Sure hope this is true because the thought of buying shampoo, sunscreen. etc. when you arrive at your destination ticks me off. Thank goodness they foiled the plot and we can all be our our way to Disney or wherever!

Oh, we are going the first part of Sept. hopefully, it won't be nearly as busy as when you are there!!! I didn't realize your dates when I posted ~ I thought you would be there the same time as me. Anyway, good luck, I hope you get it!!! It's well worth it!!

Kimmar in case I miss you later, have a wonderful & safe trip! I look forward to hearing about your trip & seeing lots of pictures.

Did you keep track of how many extra zebra domes & drinks you need to have for all of us :teeth:

Enjoy & talk to you soon! :cheer2:

Hmmmm...I'm not quite sure, I haven't actually seen this yet, he just told me about it. I will take a look tonight and report back. :confused3

I just figured it was a standard procedure (me being a WDW newbie). I did get confirmation numbers over the phone when I booked them too...

I'm not kimmar, but the resort monorail opens at 7:00am.

scoutsmom-thanks for this piece of info-do you know how long a full loop takes-say if you get dropped at MK and go around to Polynesian?

All this transportation talk is giving me agita (sp?lol)-I don't want to miss any ressies but I also would prefer not leaving an hour and a half to get places...maybe the best solution is to plan on taxis for several of the more difficult connections...????

Kimmar-Maybe since you are going tommorrow... ...you could strap on a video camera so we can all live vicariously through you...It could be our own personal reality tv show-"Kimmar at the Animal Kingdom Lodge"-you know live feed the whole bit-what do you think? :thumbsup2

I totally agree with your experience. Last year we were there during "free dinning" Wow, was it had to get a table meal. We were even staying concierge at AKL. We ask the CM's if they could book a dinner on any of three nights, we had available. Every night was booked solid. Then Boma decided to open up earlier. Concierge were then able to get us a table, at 4:30 or 5:30 pm, however we had to wait 1 hour after arrival to be seated. Now, that is busy! The meal was WONDERFUL as usual. However, I don't know that any place is worth an hour wait (with ADR) when your at Disney. :) Just too much fun stuff to do to sit and wait. JMHO Due to the above we did have dinner two nights at the Mara which was very, good. I like their variety and they have Zebra Domes !

We do not like to plan every meal for each day of our vacation. However, I learned after last year. We have ADR for each night of our two + week WDW trip this holiday.

Shyjade - I am glad you are not giving up hope. Just keep calling, you are far enough away that I am sure something will open up for you. Sending pixiedust: for extra luck on your next phone call.

Kimmar, You leave tomorrow! Woo Hoo I am so excited for you. You richly deserve this trip after all the hard work you have been through with your degree. I hope you have a fantastic time, that the weather is perfect and please send me some Zebra Domes. :worship: ;)

Have a blast and be sure to take pictures. I am looking forward when you return to your trip report and many pictures. I am jealous, wish I was going also.

I am so jealous! You all are going back to the AKL and so soon for some of you. Yesterday, my 4 YO DGD said, "Nana, I wish we were back at the Animal Kingdom Lodge." "Baby, I wish we were there too." Last year as we were packing she said that she never wanted to leave.....:sad1:

So have fun, and take a picture for Kady.

Nancy, My heart goes out to you. Those great big eyes looking up at you wishing to go back to a place you love. Ahhhh Our little ones certainly start learned about those special places in the world a lot earlier then I remember ever knowing. You have a trip in January planned don't you? And I believe you are doing an August trip? When are you leaving?

 I'm so excited- we paid the remainder of our package today...that means the trip is almost here!! Well, still way too far away for me, but at least it seems closer now!! :Pinkbounc

That is a super achievement. Now you only have to plan your packing and spending money. I wish I could say the same. When is your trip? Have you ever stayed at AKL before?

Kimmar, You of course ARE doing a live from AKL report arn't you? I am sure you are planning a super daily posting complete with pictures. ;) Only kidding.

Kimmar, have a magical trip!!! pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust:

I'm right behind you! :tiptoe: :tiptoe: :tiptoe:

Kimmar, have a great trip! Maybe we will cross paths!

Shyjade, keep on trying for dinner at Boma, everyday if you have to. PM me if you need and 800#. I had to try for 2 weeks to get dinner at Coral Reef for next Sun.

PracPerfPatricia, if memory serves me correctly it is between 10 and 15 min from MK to the Poly depending on traffic. (yes we have been caught in traffic on the monrail) The other option you have is to get off at the TTC and walk through the resort to Ohanas, that takes about 5 minutes.
