It is so hard to think about dieting when looking at these pictures

That's one reason I never mind when they put me ALL the way at the end of the hall because atleast I can walk off what I eat every time I leave the resort or go to the pool or to the Mara.

Last time I was in Disney was for my 40th birthday in December 2004. we are going again for my 42nd birthday :

Actually there will be 3 birthdays in our party, DD13 on Dec 14th, her friend on December 13th and mine on the 18th.

We did the candlelight processional with a meal package at Alfredos, it was wonderful - the food was really good (although I had to send my first meal back because it was cold) but the second one was perfect. The processional had us all teary when they choir sang and Eartha Kitt was the narrator. It was a great evening.

I really recommend it with the meal so you don't have to line up for tickets.

Also, I don't know if you remember but that week we went there was a cold snap in Orlando - it was about 45-50 degrees at night, you could see your breath! Perfect for that holiday feeling :

Would anyone have knowledge or confirm that most of the 33 deluxe pool view rooms are assigned to smokers? This was discussed on another thread, and I am about to cry! We are looking forward to our trip and are extremely sensitive to smoke. I am thinking about changing my resort or category if this is true! I can't be in a room that has had a smoker, even if it has been cleaned. Would anyone on this thread know?

I wouldn't think so.

There are savanna view smoking rooms, but you are not supposed to smoke on the balcony of them, but smoking in the room is okay. There are smoking pool rooms too, people don't have to go on the balcony, but they are allowed to smoke out there.

...Hi guys, it's been a while since I posted. I heard from Don at AKL Concierge today, he booked the sunrise safari for us (December 14 - DD12's Birthday) and CRT for breakfast on the 15th and Chef Mickeys for dinner on the 15th.

I want to book the Candlelight processional package but the dates aren't out yet.

Still a lot to figure out and think about... I am excited about this trip, travelling with my DD and 2 people who have never been to Disney before

I think I'll skip the MVMCP this year, it was so crowded last time I went, too crowded...

I've never booked the Candlight Processional pkg, but my brother and his family have...they loved MNNSHP MUCH better! That is really AWESOME that you got to book CRT ~ those ressies are really hard to come by....your family is going to LOVE the SS.....(Don's totally amazing! )

Wendypooh, yes we are definately very excited
The binoculars I orderes are Meade Compact Binoculars. I should have them in a few days and will let you know how good (and child friendly) they are.

However my parents are both very opposed at this point to me and my sister going away at the same time as our brother is virtually usesless and I have become my mother's primary caregiver, still sleeping on their den couch, (my father has taken to telling everyone that he does not know what he would do without me). So now I am having a tug of war with myself about whether this trip should happen or not as my sister will not send her kids with just me and for me to go alone it would be pointless as the trip was a special present for the kids.

Thanks for the info on the binoculars ~ I'm going to see if I can find out something about them!!! But, do let me know once you get them!! I'm so sorry about your parents. I wish I could offer more advice, other than, do you know/have someone who could help them out while you and your sis are gone?? Also, YOU deserve this trip, and YOU NEED to do things for yourself -- I learned the HARD way that sometimes it's OK to be a little selfish!!! It'll save your sanity!!! OK, off my preach....... but, really, try to remember to be good to yourself, you are so good to everyone else!!! Good Luck!!! But, I say, GO and enjoy yourself, enjoy being with your sister, and spoil those babies rotten!!!!

How many of you are going??? ......... sheesh, I think I'll tag along with you guys, you'll never even notice me!!! LOL There were times though, when all of us traveled together staying in one room,(when the boys were younger) that the testosterone was toooooooo much and I'd have liked another room!!! On another planet!!!!

I hope everyone is having a great Monday...work was extremley slow today and I spend the day dreaming about AKL food thanks to all of the great pics from tinknme over the weekend. hmmmmmm wonder if they ship zebra domes because I could really go for one now. Well I found decent airfare today for my 2nd fall trip (only $237) so I'm pretty pleased with that. I really want to upgarade my trip even more now to AKL...10 nights at the lodge would be pure heaven.

PracPerfPatricia I was thinking last night about what you could do for the breakfast. What about Safari hats? Or how about making them some type of Safari themed shirts or getting khaki vests and doing shorts or pants with it? You could sew patches on to the vests.
kimmar067 You always find the best pictures of the lodge....I feel so homesick right now! Make sure to take a lot of pics while you are there. Ohhh that special k diet sounds intersting! Do you have a link for it? And now you are up to 3 rooms...sure there isn't enough room to squeeze lil ole me in?

Am_I_There_Yet Welcome to the thread! I always enjoy your siggie and avator pics...I don't think Scout would sit still that long...he is pretty active for 7. I would think June codes I would start watching at the start of March.

LAWalz23 I agree with you I love the idea of going and not feeling comando. Our trip will be a little comando this time because my sister has only been to WDW for 3 days since 1990. Last time she joined mom and me in 2004 and we did hit all the parks, but it was a whirlwind. I'm so glad I convinced her to go for 7 nights 8 days this time. We are using TGM so I know what parks we will be doing which days and have a plan set-up which will be nice.

Disney8704 I don't know what to tell you about the tickers. Tickertage is so finickey sometimes. When I made the CBR ticker and submitted it it did not show up on ticker tag for over a month!!!!
NJBILL I have no idea how concierge works as I have never stayed there before, but I was thinking about asking how much it would be to upgrade on my arrival.

LAWalz23 how long is your trip for? Is there any other relatives or close family friends that could help out and check in on mom and dad while you guys are gone? I agree with Wendy that you deserve to go on this trip. You have to take some time for yourself!

** From Kimmar's post regarding this very thing........

First, right-click the pic of the AKL sign (the cursor must be on top of the pic). At the bottom of the menu that appears, will be "Properties". Click that (with the left button on your mouse). Where it says "address", put the cursor at the very beginning of the address that is listed and 'drag' your mouse over the ENTIRE address, holding the left mouse button the whole time. It will make the address have a blue 'bar' over it. Then, AT THE SAME TIME, hit the "Control" [or CNTRL] button and the letter "C". This will copy or cut that address for you. Next, navigate to your avatar screen (or 'page') and type in the word img - it doesn't matter if it is capitalized or not (I never do). But, you must put a set of brackets in front of and behind the img (like this:

" (don't use those quotation marks!). Finally, click "Keep changes", the button at the bottom...this should work. GOOD LUCK!

You are probably right, there may very well have been the safari one's, I just don't recall seeing them!!! There is waaaaaayyyy to much good stuff at Zawadi to see!!! LOL

Oh your DS will love the Donald!!! Are you making your own basket or doing one through Peg? I'm planning on one from Peg, but I can't decide if I should do safari plush or the pirate plush. Wow, just found out it is a 30 min motorcoach ride to like Magic Kingdom from AKL. Gonna have to allow a good bit of time in order to make it to ressies. Morning ressies they suggested being at the bus stop by 6:30 whew early early. Oh well that's the fun in it right lol. I was a tad miffed at the Disney travel cast member this afternoon. I told her we had ressies for AKL for our honeymoon already I was just checking to see if 07 packages were out yet cause they changed the wdw website she said no then said why are you not staying at Grand Floridian. I was like we liked the music and looks of the AKL thought it seemed like a lot of fun. She made me feel as though I had made a stupid mistake in choosing it for our honeymoon stay. She was like no it's a great hotel. ugh I hate when you get a cm that makes you feel like you chose a bad place.

Cass-I was poking around on "another" board and rumor has it (supposedly verified by CMs that the dates are going to be released on July 31st...)

We're not doing the CP-although I heard its supposed to be beautiful but we are doing MVMCP...never been and just have to try it....

I think our times at AKL overlap...

Sorry I didn't respond earlier-I hate when thiat happens-I think with this group however its because we're all distracted by the recent abundance of food pictures...it puts everyone into a state of food frenzy.... It's like watching the food channel with no volume...

Thanks Lisa. Yes, anything with "zebras" on it...stuffed animals, pictures, hand carvings, figurines...you name it. If it looks like a zebra or has a picture of a zebra on it, Shyanne will be interested! I'd rather her want those types of souveniers than a ton of cheap trinkets from the parks which I know will only get lost in the mess of her bedroom! She collects anything with zebras so I'm hoping she'll get a chance to add to her collection while still getting souvies from WDW that she will look back on with fond memories.

Here are 2 unrelated to AKL questions that I can't seem to get answers for on the Parks thread...anyone know the answers?

- When are the rope drops in each land at MK? Are they based on regular park opening times (e.g. does Toontown open at 10am regardless if it's a 8am EMH that day?)

- Anyone know a good online store for buying park merchandise? I'd like order some things to surprise my DD with before our trip (things like passporter, pressed penny book, lanyard, etc.)?

Thanks, Bob, for sharing your Wanyama Safari experiences. Hopefully I can adjust my wheelchair well enough to see something! At least the tour is relatively flat if I understand correctly.

Does anyone have experience with the Sunrise Safari. Bumpiness is a potential issue for me, but it depends on how bumpy it is and the duration of the bumpiness. Can anyone be more specific about their experiences? Thanks.

LaWalz-are Meade Compact Binoculars-real-they sound real vs. toys-definately let us know how they work out (and where you order them from)...also you sound like a very devoted and loving daughter -you owe it to yourself and your parents to get away-otherwise you will become burn out and resentful...this won't be good for anyone...you need to refresh or you can't help anyone...

Scoutsmom-Are Peg's baskets nice-DD and DS have grandparents who would love to send them something... ....

As for myself, I 've been taken under the influence of a certain Jambo bunch member who has a talent for making pretty glittery avatars... ...who has hooked me on ebay and I've begun accumulating things-so I'll probably have accumulated more than enough stuff to make my own baskets...ok Wendy come out, -so do you put your baskets together before you leave home and hide them? How do you manage this?

Kimmar-let us know how the Sprecial K works out...I could see you on the commercials sitting at Boma..."Special K allowed me to guiltlessly partake in my beloved Zebra Domes here at AKL in WDW,,," -hey Disney might pick you up as a spokesman-how cool would that be.....
