I've got the shopping bug also. Bought 2 pair of mickey shorts, 2 t-shirts for me, (one matches the ones I bought for sis and her kids) and a mickey comforter sheets, pillows (hand and ears) and a mickey shower curtain. :cool1:
Two pairs of binoculars for the trip.
And of course the trip including airfare and food as a special treat for the kids pirate: princess: (my sister insisted on coming along so I paid for her, too :confused3 ) And who knows how much money in souveniers because Aunt Lori has a hard time saying no! :rolleyes1
Sis is chipping in the last two nights at AKL using her DVC points (we were going to use my DVC points at OKW) that they had leftover from coming home early from Disneyland due to my mother being ill.
On a sad note, I definately have to postpone my planned Dec trip because Mom will probably just be recovering from having her colostomy reversed. Maybe next year :hourglass I had actually bought MVMCP tickets, before her 1st surgery, hoping we would be able to go, but the 2nd one did us in. I am hoping I can get a refund.

I think tickertag.com hates me...I just can't get it to work... :confused3 All well!

Yesterday I made all our dinner reservations!

Today there hasn't been much honeymoon work-just trying to get our invitations squared away, working on the reception and trying to buy a car! Whew...busy...

My wonderful fiance laughs everytime I bring up anything related to WDW or AKL, he has gotten a full glimpse of my obsession! However, today I read some of the menus to him off allearsnet and also explained the wonder of the Zebra Dome to him. I think he's secretly just as excited as me!!!!!

Just back from AKL last week and here are a few pics of our room/lobby. We had an upgrade from standard view to a pool view. Thanks Michael. :thumbsup2 The room also had a fullsize pull out sofa bed.

Janet- Here is the link to the sellers E-Bay Store. The one set of bags is ending in 1hr or so, but they always seem to put more up right away (at least in the past month). I keep thinking about picking up some more pins to trade as well. I got the flip-flops in Mickey and Donald Duck for myself. They finally came today (2 weeks after I ordered!!). They are super cute.

It took me over two weeks, but I finally finished reading all the posts in this thread!!!!! :cheer2: DH and I will be at AKL Sept. 5-10 celebrating my recent retirement (just when everyone goes back to school !!) and his advancement to third degree black belt in tae kwon do.

Even though I have just been lurking - - and reading, I want to thank everyone who has contributed to this thread and its unbelievable amount of information. I have found the answers to most all my questions here and I thank you.

I just can't believe I read the whole thing.............. :wave2:

IWISH: Super photos, thank you for posting them!

Teresa,

We booked our Dec. 2005 through AAA. Tell your TA to note on your ressies that you will be celebrating your anniversary. Your TA handles all your requests to WDW. At checkin, besides your anniversary, I would also mention your husband's return from Iraq.

Is your husband normally stationed at the Dover Air Force Base?

Hello all!

Sorry I haven't been posting lately on this thread. I have been reading and staying up to date for the most part though. Thank you for all the gorgeous photos!

I need some transportation help (we will be using the bus system)... we arranged for dinner at Kona one night for our AKL trip next week. After dinner, we are planning to watch the Water Parade and the Wishes fireworks from the Poly beach. Has any fellow AKL guests done this? What's the best way to get back to AKL from the Poly at night? I'm hoping we will not have to go to the MK to get on a bus as it will be packed from all the firework watchers. Is our best bet going to Ticketing and Transport Center and then AKL?

I would post on the regular resort board but I've read all the flaming replies in the past as to outside visitors enjoying the Poly beach. I figure, if we're going to be spending $200 at Kona, we should be able to enjoy the resort. (We're not on the free dining plan as we're using DVC points.)

Any advice would be great!
Thanks,
Raina :sunny:

Raina,

The last time we visited the Poly at night we took a bus to DTD and then a bus to the AKL.

This is exactly what we want to do in September!!

Is there a bus from the TTC to AKL?

Is a bus to DTD then to AKL the only option or the fastest option????

questions, questions...................

Thanks,

Babs

Kathy-

Your brilliant. Straight from the Poly to DTD to AKL? Awesome. I didn't even think of that. Therefore I can avoid the whole MK crowds/monorail at all costs. Thanks! :goodvibes

OK, I will be sure to tell my TA when she calls back at the end of this month to give me my price quote. How should I tell them about my hubbys return? Just say yea we are celebrating our anniversary and my hubbys return home from Iraq? I mean I dont wanna sound TO obvious trying to hint at them for a possible free savannah upgrade, lol. :rotfl: Or I could just calmly be like when they ask if we ever stayed with them before, cuz they usually ask that, I could say, no, 1st time staying at the AKL, and the only reason y we are able to stay here was because we used my hubbys deployment money, lol. :lmao: Yea this is our pernament duty station. The 1st and probably only one, lol. Getting out of Dover is nearly impossible cuz theres just not enough people here. Especially in DH shop. He's a mechanic. He works on the equipment that works on the planes. There isnt that many people left in his shop. A lot of them either got out of the militatry or on deployments, including DH. Not that I mind really, because all my family and friends are here and the base is pretty good. Just this blasted state, lol. DE is the most boring state in the world, lol. But no tax, so that makes up for it, lol. The motto for this base is Dover AFB, is like a black hole. Once you get in, you cant get out.

I have been trying to read all of the thread to find my answers but this is gonna take some time I am only up to page 62 after reading all day. Here are my questions:

1. Concierge CM Juanita booked me on a 6th floor savannah view. Is this room non smoking?? I read somewhere the 6th floor was smoking.

2. Does anyone have pictures of the concierge 2 queen bed room?

3. Does anyone have a picture of the 6th floor savannah view? and or balcony of a 6ht floor? CM said the view wouldnt be as good as the 5th floor but with a 23 month old I think closer to elevator and lounge might be better if the view is worse.

4. Do you think it is a mistake to take a 2 year old on the sunrise safari? He is very well behaved but I dont want to ruin anyone elses time with him babbling on about the animals?

Thanks for your help with these questions. Liz

Just moving this up. Hoping someone can answer the questions in my previous reply. TIA.

Cool pics! I personally wouldn't have a problem with a well-behaved two year old but I am a child friendly person and we have taken my sister's twins everywhere without problems. We are going on the Sunrise Safari this year because they requested it after seeing it on the travel channel. We are also planning to take advantage of the resort activities and pool because in the words of my niece "we have been to the parks already".

The AKL IPO is outstanding so you are in great hands!

The savannah view on the sixth floor is all non smoking. The pool view side (sixth floor) is smoking optional.

Your view for sixth floor savannah view will be of the sunset savannah. I would definitely take closeness to the lounge over location with a two year old. I see you've been to AKL many times so you know all of the great viewing areas to see the other savannahs.

You know your child best as far as the sunrise safari is concerned. Happy babbling always brings a smile to my face!

Have a WILD TIME!
