Looks like we'll be back for a return stay at AKL 12/9/07 - 12/15/07 I got a CM to give me the 40% off code so we booked a Savannah room with bunk beds (not my choice, but at least the code was applied). I couldn't pass it up so now we're confirmed for MVMCP 2007 woohoo! I'll eventually change to a room with no bunk beds, but at the moment there is no availability for any other type of room other than Savannah room Kilimanjaro Club which is still about $1300.00 for 6 nights.

You don't say when you are going - you might get lucky on an upgrade. Talk nicely to the CM and mention it is a birthday trip plus your first AKL stay.

This is absolutely true. In August 06, we stayed at AKL with a standard room view. I told them we were taking my nephew along and it was his birthday. When we checked in, the CM automatically upgraded us to a Savannah room view at no charge. It was magical to see my daughter wake up to the elephants, zebras, wildabeasts, etc every morning. I'll never forget those moments.

I didn't although we will have the dining plan. I got the pin(legally, it was attached no my house. no flames please!!) so I got 40% which ended up being the bigger savings.

I'm still having a hard time believing it all.

...always DID love those savings....that means MORE moolah to spend on souvies at AKL.....

Are you in a Savannah room too? I am going to decorate our door with the lime green Mickey heads, so if you see them, say hi!

I added an appropriate ticker to my siggy since AKL doesn't seem to be happening in the near future! We are; however, planning a trip to visit friends in NYC in April/May. Currently is about 40 degrees in NYC, and here in Minnesota it's NEGATIVE 14! Ugh. I miss the City soooooooooo much, and not just for the weather-but that certainly doesn't hurt.

Just a note; We called to book a room at a moderate resort last night for our summer trip. Was informed by the CM we had a pin. Got a room at AKL for $159.00 a night. No Way we could pass it up!! We are AP holders,dont know if that got us the pin or not. These rates start May 28th.

Hey, these are just what I need to convince my parents to go to AKL! How do I do this? Just call and ask? I am an AP, holder, Disney Visa holder, past AKL visitor.

Hello all-
We're going to the AKL for our first time in September! It's our anniversary trip & I'm surprising my husband w/not only the AKL (he thinks we're staying at CSR!!) but added an extra day to attend the first night of MNSSHP!

For those of you who did receive an upgraded view, were any of you staying in September? We arrive the Wed after Labor Day & the last two years the Parks were not very crowded at that time...so maybe AKL won't be either!!

I booked standard view and am looking forward to having a balcony (first time in a deluxe!!) regardless of the view!!

When you're checking in, start up a little conversation while they start looking up your reservation. Make sure you call reservations in advance and tell them to note that on the computer. The CM at the resort told me "oh we see you have a little one celebrating a birthday" and i started a little conversation with her kinda milking it. Low and behold it worked. She upgraded us for free and I have charlie brown luck, so all hope is definetly not lost.

Restaurants have great reviews, but we only went to Mara where they had regular food. We weren't brave enough to spend that much money on a meal that we may not have liked....especially my 1 year old DD. The food did smell really good though and looked pleasant enough as we strolled by to check it out one night. The smell of the spice as soon as you enter the lodge is absolutely wonderful. It's a scent that was burned into my cortex and everytime i think of Disney, I think of the AKL as i will for life.

The dates for 2007 are: September 14, 21, 28; October 1, 4, 5, 9, 11, 12, 15, 16, 18, 22, 23, 25, 26, 29, 30, 31

I have not seen when the tickets will be going on sale though.

Yes-Jiko is awesome! The fliet mignon is the best! The flatbread pizza appetizer is really good too. We went there for the first time when we stayed at AKL in '05 and now we will eat there everytime we go.

OMG! I was just telling DH (who just shakes his head at me now...still too soon for him to get excited) that I just HAVE to get a pair of these! Crocs were all I wore on our last trip...but sans the cute Mickey heads.
