I just returned, within the last hour, from a short four night trip to Disney. We have annual passes and points to use so we decided to take a long weekend and have some fun.
I traveled with my DD(12). We stayed three nights at AKL Jambo standard studio and the last night at the Renaissance (68 dollars at hotwire) at the airport. We used Magical Express for arrival on Thursday night around 8 and got to our rooms around 10. The room was great and I do love the way they are decorated.
We ate at Jambo's Mara, Jiko, Sci-fi drive in, Teppan Edo and I have no dining reservations at all. Just walked up and asked for a table, told there was a 40 minute wait and were seated in less than 5 minutes for Jiko, Sci-fi and Teppan Edo. I give a big thumbs up to both Jiko and Teppan Edo, they were wonderful. Sci-fi was all about atmosphere, the food was blah!!! JMHO.
The parks, with the exception of the Magic Kingdom were light, in my estimation, even though there were tons and tons of tour groups, bands, HS Choirs, School field trips and so forth. There had absolutely taken over the Magic Kingdom. Sprinting from ride to ride and some light cursing from time to time. This was the most disturbing part to me I guess.
I wanted to stay an extra night at Jambo house but it was totally booked except for a cash room for 352 dollars a night!
I am very hesitant to pay those kinds of prices when I am so deeply entrenched in DVC dollarwise. Especially since I have points that are getting ready to expire.
I am seriously thinking of selling my membership. Not because it is bad or not a great deal, but my ability to plan ahead has been severely hampered in the last couple of years. But all in all it was a great trip.
