Jambo 1 BR obstructed savannah View

Hi,

I saw at one point that there are some 1 BR standard view rooms at Jambo that have a limited/obstructed view of the savannah. I've actually had this request fulfilled at Kidani in the past. Rather than call (because I'm sure wait times are terrible right now) I e-mailed with this request for my upcoming stay. I was told in the email:"Since you have reserved a Standard View Villa, you will have a view of the pool or the resort's entrance area. We are not able to add any kind of a request for a Savanna View since that is not the kind of accommodation that you reserved. We appreciate your understanding."

While I certainly understand my request is not guaranteed, I'm pretty sure these rooms still exist. Am I wrong on this for Jambo house, or is this a request that must be made at check in?

These rooms exist. I think DVC not allowing that as a booking request speaks to the fact that they realize if they allowed that request, everyone would make it and most of the requesters would be disappointed because there are very few of these rooms. I often wonder when DVC will tire of the requests and just eliminate them, with the exception of medical necessity of course.

There's usually (but not always) no point to making requests at check in- by then the rooms have already been assigned. The exception would be if a room happened to be coming back off maintenance that fulfilled what you were looking for.

Only DVC Jambo value rooms can have an entrance view. Kidani standard can include parking lot view.

But the Jambo standard category was expanded to include less-desirable former savanna view rooms, including rooms near stair towers and above the “dreaded” people pens (it’s 5th floor, look out and not down)

I had once a Jambo standard 1BR on the Uzima savanna over a people pen.

More than half the Jambo standard rooms have a savanna view. However, if you request a standard view that has partial savanna view, MS will respond that you cannot make that request. What you should do instead is make a location request that makes no mention of "savanna" view; example: all the the standard views on the Kudo Trail side of the resort have savanna view, so make a request simply asking to be on the Kudo Trail side of the resort; that request will likely be accepted by MS
