OMG Jaime this report is hysterical! You should seriously send this to SNL! I love how mad you got about Dancing with the stars being spoiled for you... I am the SAME way I freak out! CHAPTER 33: Welcome to Satan’s Bus Route – DAY 5: StillWednesday, May 2nd, 2007


45 minutes.

We sat on that bus from Animal Kingdom to the Beach Club for 45 minutes.

I DON’T KNOW ABOUT YOU – BUT I TOOK A NAP.

Typhoon Lagoon – doesn’t every bus have to stop at Typhoon Lagoon now???

Boardwalk – um, didn’t he skip a couple hotels on this route???

Swan and Dolphin – oh! There they are! Yes, let’s double back – this ride isn’t long enough as it is!

Yacht Club – if he had skipped the Beach Club and taken us back to Animal Kingdom – or heaven forbid, Typhoon Lagoon - I would have personally picked up the bus and beaten him with it!

We finally get to the Beach Club. 45 minutes. I’ve had marriages shorter than that! It was a ridiculous waste of time – we should have just grabbed a cab!

I have always dreamed of staying at the Boardwalk or the Beach Club… I’m over it.

We walk through the lobby and find Ruth sitting at a table in front of Beaches ‘n Cream sipping a soda. Rhonda and Sandy sit down – and I suppose tell her about the devil and the bus ride – and I go to the podium and ask about a table.

1 hour. At 3 in the afternoon.

Well, I’m glad they’re doing so well – but I’m fried… I cannot sit here for another hour. I go back to the table and tell them how long it would be before we could be seated. And I know I conveyed my feeling as I said it.

Ruth says, "Well, I’ve been sitting here an hour already – we’re waiting!"

Have I mentioned how I hate being told what to do? So I said I wasn’t waiting and I could meet them somewhere later, but Rhonda and Sandy sided with finding someplace else to eat and we left the Beach Club.

We headed over to the Boardwalk, trying to think of where we could eat… as we get to Big River Grill, we see there’s no line, so we check out the menu… basic food, sounds like a plan!

Rhonda and I split the Jalapeno Spinach Cheese Dip - spinach and onions blended with melted Jalapeno Jack cheese and served hot with tortilla chips $7.99

I ended up with a Greenhouse Salad - fresh mixed salad greens, topped with Roma tomatoes, carrots, cheddar and jack cheeses, sunflower kernels, and croutons $5.99 with bleu cheese dressing.

Rhonda go the Blue Ridge Pork Sandwich - traditional pulled pork with Rocket Red barbecue sauce. Served with Kettle chips. $7.99

Sandy and Ruth both ordered Big Brew Burger - 10 ounces of choice aged ground sirloin grilled to order and served with lettuce, tomato and Kettle chips $8.99; add cheese or bacon, $1.00 each

Lunch was very good – I’d never eaten here before and I really liked it – and the fact that I ordered a salad has to tell you something about how much junk I had been eating! I never order salad!!!

UGH! I DETEST those long bus rides. When we were there in October, we had to go to Fort Wilderness and OMG. That was insane. We had to ride a bus to MK, a boat to FW and a bus THROUGH FW.

I was ready to CHOKE someone before it was over.

Can't wait to see the Art of Disney stuff. I love that place.

CHAPTER 34: The Art of Disney – DAY 5: Still Wednesday, May 2nd, 2007


After lunch, we wander over to MGM – I walked the path!!!

Go, foot!

Rhonda spotted a couple of Disney vans – florist and DVC – that she took pictures of, so she could tell Mia that that’s what she wants to paint their cars like when we live in Florida.

EXPLAINATION IN ORDER: Mia, Rhonda, and I are planning to buy a house in Florida in fall, 2009, when Mia and Rhonda retire. We are going to have a Mickey Mouse kitchen. Rhonda has a list of the items she has already bought for the kitchen and my contributions are a Mickey breadbox and a Mickey clock.

At a funeral luncheon for a family member, we saw a room painted white with glitter in the walls – I wish I could explain it better – it was not gaudy or tacky looking – it really looked like pixie dust! Rhonda and I both liked it. We started teasing Mia that we’d paint the house like that.

Mia insists we are not going to be allowed to paint any rooms in the house with pixie dust. We want to do just the foyer. Mia keeps threatening to live with her friend Sue in Florida instead of with us.

BACK TO THE WALK TO MGM: We get to MGM quickly – I think it might be a scary walk at night though… and head over to Gertie the dinosaur for ice cream. Rhonda, Sandy, and I use snack credits for waffle cones. Ruth says it’s too soon after lunch for ice cream. Yeah, I don’t get that either, but whatever. So she sat and waited for us to finish our waffle cones.

It’s about 4pm.

This is where I decide that I’m really done. Fried. Shot. Wiped out. I’m going back to the room. There’s nothing else in MGM I want to do and my foot is throbbing!

Bad foot!

I’m going back to the room to put my foot, wrapped in a bag of ice, on top of 3 pillows. I will also be taking a Vicodin and a nap. I should have thought of this days ago!

I wander through some stores on the left side of the main street of MGM on my way out. I run across a rack that has the Art of Disney cross-stitches on it. This is one of the items I had hoped to purchase at Downtown Disney this trip.

I can do basically any needlecraft out there – cross-stitch, needlepoint, crochet, knitting… Mia and Rhonda taught me when I was little. In my senior year of high school, I made every pair of mittens that was handed in to the teacher in the needlecraft class that semester – I was the only girl in the class who could knit!

But it’s been a very long time since I’ve cross-stitched, and the Art of Disney projects are not cheap. Or easy. (Unlike me!!! LOL!) So, I went to Hobby Lobby a couple of months ago and bought a small $3.00 kit to do. I decided if I could finish the 5x7 project, I could splurge on the $45.00 Art of Disney one and know that I could finish it.

I think my fate was sealed though, when I found out Rhonda had one. She’s doing Self Portrait.

So, I stopped and looked at what was on the rack at MGM. They had 6 designs hanging there. I picked which one I wanted – Past, Present, Forever.

I figured when we went to Downtown Disney tomorrow that if they had this one, then it would be fate and I’d spend the $45.

I decided to stop at the bathroom before I got on a bus… and in the bathroom decided that I wanted the cross-stitch enough to go back and grab it now. If we had gone to Downtown Disney and they didn’t have this one, I’d regret not buying it now.

So, I backtracked – and sure enough – I find out the next day that they are out of this design at DTD. I was really glad I second-guessed myself right away! Have to remember that trick before a wedding or two!

The AKL bus was pulling away as I approached, so I just sat down at the head of the line and waited. It was only about 5 minutes before another bus pulled up. And, well, you already knew what I did – ice, pillows, Vicodin, nap… I figured I had hours before they came back.

Nope. They were back within 2 hours. Uh oh. I don’t do Vicodin as well as some other trip reporters… I stumble around… and I speak "Gibberish". The words make perfect sense to me… but not to anyone else.

Vica-Mommie is running into a problem with the trip reporting here, too… I remember them coming in – I remember not being able to speak English. I know dinner ended up being at the Mara food court… I was torn between the falafel pita, the African Stew, and the shrimp platter (I went with the shrimp), but I don’t know what else we did the rest of the night! I’m fairly certain I at least had the sense not to go in a pool! I’d probably still be looking for the hippo to walk by…
