CHAPTER 26: OK, Puggymom – You’re Up!!! – Still DAY 4: Tuesday, May 1st, 2007

So now I’m full of carbs and the day has been really exciting so far… and there’s about to be another DisBoards connection.

We grab the monorail over to the Magic Kingdom. Day 4 and this will be our first time this trip to the Land that Walt Begat.

I HAVE NO CLUE WHY I TOOK A PICTURE OF THIS WINDOW:

BUT I REMEMBER THINKING THIS WAS PRETTY:

Today was the day of the matching shirts I made. We had Disney polos that I painted our names on the backs (with a Mickey head, of course!)
After I got Jack to stop trying to attack the castle, we had a PhotoPass photographer take a few shots (front and back of the shirts) in front (not back) of the castle.

And, for the record, whenever you ask a PhotoPass person to make sure NOT to get your butt in the picture, realize that translates into "Get my whole butt in the picture – nothing BUT my BUTT!"

700 pictures of the castle later, we decide to head to Fantasyland… why? Couldn’t tell you. Then I’d have to kill you.

We have to go around the castle to get there. On the way over the bridge before Liberty Square, we spot this man (an escapee from the Haunted Mansion?) standing next to a "Wet Paint" sign. They had painted the wood railing on the bridge and apparently the sign was not enough!

We laugh with him and Rhonda asks, "Well, we can’t touch the paint, can we touch you?" to which he agrees and she does.

We wander through Tinkerbell’s Treasures next looking for Tink. Rhonda tries the keyhole in the dresser. She never spots Tink, but every few seconds the keyhole lights up. I was too lazy to bend down to see for myself.

Rhonda wants to ride the Carousel. She wants Cinderella’s horse. We are too late to make it on this ride, so we get to be first in line for the next time around. So she gets to ride Cinderella’s horse. Whilst (yup, that word is back!) on the horse, I notice there is no line for Snow White – let’s hit it!

We need to start heading over to Adventureland… I have 2 dates lined up.
One is at 10:15 with a pirate, the other is at 10:30 with a puggymom. I had found the schedule for Captain Jacks’ Pirate Tutorial before the trip and PM’d Mo because so she’d know when that started and we could meet right after. (It’s a 20 minute show, so when I was 5 minutes late for our meeting, she’d know why!)

Captain Jack Sparrow’s Pirate Tutorial

There are pirates among us! And they're looking to recruit. None other than Captain Jack Sparrow's first mate, Mack, is searching out brave souls who dream of a pirate's life. Can you swing a sword, sail the seas, and spot a cursed treasure before you plunder it? Maybe Captain Sparrow will even let you take the Pirate Oath and join his crew.

Daily at 10:15 & 11:20am, 12:25, 2:15, 3:20 & 4:25pm

Length of sets: 20 minutes

Mmmmmmmmmmm…………. Piratey goodness…

As we’re watching the show, I’m noticing a woman off to my left, also watching the show, with a thin, green lanyard on. She’s too far away for me to see if it’s a Focker Watcher lanyard or not, and I’ve only seen 1 picture of puggymom, so I’m only about 73% sure it’s her.

As the show is ending, I realize the woman is gone. I look over to the front of Pirates of the Caribbean and she’s sitting on a rock waiting for me. It was her!

I walk up, giving her the Focker Watcher signal – or what I figured was the Focker Watcher signal (the thread that explains this whole Focker Watcher group is so long, I gave up trying to find the actual directions and went with what seemed the logical choice) – 2 fingers, point them at my eyes, point them at her.

She says I am the first to signal her! Whoo-hoo!!!

Introductions, pictures – with Captain Jack and Fritzie the Croc, and a ride of Pirates of the Caribbean completed our meet. It was great! We had a lot of fun! It was also nice to meet Fritzie since I will have Fauna Croc in September for a few days.

EXPLANATION IN ORDER?: Of all the ways people show their DisBoards pride, this has to be one of the funniest. There are several stuffed crocodiles making the rounds in Disneyworld. They get passed from Dis’ser to Dis’ser through set-up meetings or being left at the front desk of a hotel. You take your croc, put him in a bunch of photos (like I do with Jack!), and post them on their thread.

We get off the ride and part ways – Mo had already done the PotC shop and was headed to Frontierland. We shopped – pirate folders… that’s all I can think that we bought! While Rhonda was paying for those, I wandered near another register and saw a sign written on a dry-erase board. There were 2 questions on the board to answer.

Meg did this in September while I was off paying for something and she got a Magical Moments certificate and picked a little treasure out of a chest.
I’m staring at the board… and I know both answers… so I say to the cast member nearby, "OK, I’ll never forgive myself if I don’t answer these questions." (Little melodramatic, Jaime?) So I gave her the answers and got my own Magical Memories certificate and piece of treasure!

Now, of course, I can’t remember the questions, but the answers were Barbosa and Dave Jones.

I picked a piece of gold, Meg had chosen a compass… which, oddly enough, she offered to me to bring on the trip… Um, WHY??? She also took it with her to see PotC3 – did she think Cap’n Jack would turn to her in the audience and ask for directions???

I'm glad Meg was prepared just in case Cap'n Jack needed directions! That's hysterical.

Great installment! I'm so glad you're a quick writer, Jaime. None of this waiting for weeks on end for the next installment with you! And that's the way (uh huh, uh huh!) I like it.

Nicole - We have apparently been separated at birth - I also thought I could get away with 4 episodes of a soap I hadn't watched in 23 years... guess again!

And I just found out TODAY, oddly enough, that my cable company has added SoapNet! (those are angels you all hear singing, not cidadas! Which, by the way, Berwyn does not have - all the neighboring towns do, but not Berwyn.)

ETA: I met Patrick Drake, you know! (yes, I know he's an actor, but he's so yummy, leave me alone!)He and the guy who plays Dillon came to a local mall and me and a bunch of Rick friends went and hung out for the day.

Love the picture of Jack attacking the castle! Also, when Eric was in the pirate tutorial I was dying because I was in a spot where it was choreographed for "Jack" to run several times I am so glad you got to Focker someone on this trip , even if it wasn't me!

Isn't it neat that you got the same waiter? And yes, this gave me a smile which I very much need at the moment. Thanks for that. Yes, we did comment on the waiter's name at the time. I told him something to the effect that my husband has the same name, and he thought I meant Gary. We explained, not Gary, but Lowell, which is a rather uncommon name. So it may have made enough of an impression that he remembered us. Either that or he is just being polite. If he reads my report, I hope he doesn't mind my slight embellishments. Not that I ever exagerate. I've told you a million times, I never exagerate, but I have an occasional mental flight of fancy, like the wrath of the Tiki gods for not ordering Tonga toast.

CHAPTER 27: It’s Called "SPLASH" Mountain. Did You Really NOT See This Coming???– Still DAY 4: Tuesday, May 1st, 2007

And we head over to Frontierland! And Splash Mountain. And, NO, WE REALLY DIDN’T SEE THIS COMING!!! They have upped the water cannon that gets you when you’re coming around the opening bend, past where the other log is coming down the big drop… and it almost all landed on Rhonda’s head! Hys - ter- i - wait for it - cal!

She got wetter in that one splash that I did riding 4 times in a row in September! I was wet too – but not that wet! Sandy didn’t go on because she didn’t want to be wet – good call! Ruth doesn’t do this ride.

Ruth also doesn’t ride Big Thunder, which was next. Jack fainted when he saw the train coming… I don’t know why… he usually loves thrill rides!

To calm Jack down, we ride the Liberty Square Riverboat. Yup. We’re living on the edge now.

Sandy plays King of the World and I take a break from the sun… at least I was out of the sun when I sat down. My eyes were open and I saw what Rhonda was doing, but I let it go because we have a slide (remember those, grandpa nebo?) of me asleep in basically that exact spot on the riverboat in Disneyland when I was about 8 years old.

We ride the Haunted Mansion next… nothing to report… let’s move on…
Into Fantasyland! We get in the boat on It’s a Small World, and Rhonda asks if she can hold Jack. Um, ok. She shows him the dolls and helps him pose for pictures.

MY WORST NIGHTMARE - TRAPPED IN IT'S A SMALL WORLD!!!!!!!!

The 4 of us are in 1 row – in front of us is a man and his daughter. She was so cute – she was staring out the right side of the boat, I don’t think she even blinked! She was singing along and was totally immersed in the ride!

At the end, she was dragging her hand in the water when we went to dock. I get nervous and I lean forward and tell her to pull her hand in. Her father thanks me and I tell him they need to ride again, so she can see the left side of the ride! He says they already did!

CHAPTER 28: Smile for the Camera, Mickey! – Still DAY 4: Tuesday, May 1st, 2007

We do Mickey’s PhilharMagic next – Jack likes. Then go into Toon Town… first the Barnstormer (Ruth won’t ride), then – once we get her off the cell phone – we go through Mickey’s house and into the judge’s tent to show him our shirts!

SIT NICELY - NO BAD DANCING!

RAISING HER ARMS ON THE BARNSTORMER - WHAT A DAREDEVIL!

We had planned to pose in our picture with the 4 of us facing backwards, so you could read our shirts. Mickey had other ideas! The weirdest part is that we were smiling for the picture!!!

It was at this point that I deemed the PhotoPass too valuable to lose, so I took a digital photo of the back! Let’s take the walkway into Tomorrowland – it’s always so peaceful.

We start with The Monster’s Laugh Floor. I know it’s gotten a lot of knock, but we had a blast in there! Well, I did anyway. I was seated next to a couple and the man was the person they used in a running gag… so that was fun. It was really cute.

Over to Buzz Lightyear!!!!!!!!! It was me and Ruth with Rhonda and Sandy behind us. The sign said 20 minutes – WE WALKED ONTO THE RIDE!!!

Of course, no sooner were we seated then the ride broke down! But at least we were sitting! They had to restart the ride twice before it took.
Meanwhile, Rhonda is looking for Hidden Mickeys on the wall mural and Jack is playing Singing in the Rain on the joystick!

Time for Space Mountain! Ruth waits outside, even though we tell her she could walk through and use the chicken exit. Nope. That means phone call home.

I took pictures of the 3 of us in line and Jack floating in space. Then of course, Jack on the ride!

Don’t ask me how, but we end up back in Fantasyland. Jack takes over Peter Pan’s Flight. He demands a 4th movie where his ship flies! Ya hear that, Bruckheimer?????!!!!!!

Shopping time! Into the Christmas store in Liberty Square (we are just whizzing around this park, aren’t we?) Ever since we saw the wedding chapel the other day, Sandy keeps talking about getting married in Disney. Every time we talk to a guy, any guy, as soon as he’s out of earshot, Sandy says, "Wanna get married?"

She just wants the ceremony in the chapel… no commitment necessary!

She even picked out her veil in the Christmas shop. Jack found an ornament he insisted I buy. I resisted.

Can you believe it’s time for dinner already?

Your IASWA story reminds me of my boss! When he went to WDW many moons ago with his (then) young daughters, they got "stuck" on the ride for about 20 min. The girls didn't mind, but he must have been traumatized for life because every year as I'm about to embark on my WDW trip he tells me his "horror story!!"

(That added water cannon on SM has to go! It's one thing to get splashed at the SPLASH, but the pre-ride soaking you get now just spoils the gentle part of the attraction now because you are drenched, and in a bit of shock!)

At least it was really hot, so you must have dried off quickly....

The story continues to be entertaining! I found our JACK while going through stuff for out garage sale this past weekend. (Now I can't remember where it was that I found him....), but I had a good chuckle to myself! Your JACK is a world traveler, and ours sadly has been in captivity! I guess I must go find him again, and set him free. He does deserve a trip to "The World".

CHAPTER 29: John Paul Jones – Still DAY 4: Tuesday, May 1st, 2007

Dinner is at Liberty Tree Tavern. Yummers! There’s a bit of a wait, which we don’t mind because we find seats. We people watch and just relax.

We’re called and taken to the John Paul Jones room. I ask Rhonda if John Paul Jones was part of the British Invasion.

She says, yes, he worked on a cruise ship.

We were in hysterics! Google him if you don’t get the joke. Or look at the pictures of him and his ship. Or just let it go… Ruth didn’t laugh either. Bur Rhonda, Sandy, and I laughed until we thought we’d be sick. Yeah, it was funnier then. Let’s move on…

Our table was against a wall and I started to sit in the corner and then realized that would put Ruth next to the characters. I told her she should sit in the corner and she asked why. I said, "Do you want to be in all the pictures?" She sat in the corner. Only Goofy made her take a picture with him!

So much food.

And apple cobbler for dessert. Rhonda had 3 helpings of mashed potatoes. I had 3 helpings of cobbler. We actually asked for a 2nd cobbler for the table. This is the fullest I ever remember being in my entire life. We ate ourselves sick. It was pathetic! Rhonda said she needed to get up and walk and all I could think of was that walking was not going to help – it might actually make things worse.

We manage to get over to the bathroom behind Casey’s on Main Street, make a pit stop, and head over to the Main Street bridge for the fireworks. We have about ½ an hour. Still sick. Rhonda’s starting to feel better – she’s bouncing. Ewwwww…. Don’t do that!

Wishes is wonderful, as always. I take tons of pictures, as always.

Afterwards we head upstream to the area by Walt to let the crowds die down. Uh-oh. Did I mention the 2 cokes I drank during dinner? Be right back! Actually stopped a cast member to see if there was a closer bathroom than the one behind Casey’s (and I actually told him I suddenly turned into a 5-year-old – I gotta go NOW!)

I come back and we sit awhile longer. Then it’s out to the bus and a lovely ride back to AKL.
