Hello to everyone! What a wonderful thread, wouldn't you agree? I love hearing everybody's plans for their new beginnings. It makes me even more excited about ours, if that's even possible! Congratulations to all you other wonderful couples! I wish you all the joy and happiness in the world. :smickey:

Evan and I met in February 2011. He worked for the local Sheriff's Office and I work for the local police department. He has since started a career in the oil field. We started dating shortly after meeting and now here we are ready to start our lives as husband and wife! We are getting married October 6th here in Oklahoma, and flying into Orlando on October 8th for a week at the Port Orleans Riverside resort. He has never visited WDW before, but I like to think I'm an expert. Not counting the few months of my Disney College Program internship in 2005, I have visited 5 times so I can't wait to show him all the magic that's in store!

If y'all have any suggestions since I've never visited with a significant other and he's never been, I'd love to hear them. My last trip was in 2007 so I'm sure there are new things that I've only read about. I've been getting some great ideas from the other threads.

I will be adding pictures as soon as I can, apparently you have to have 10 posts and since I'm new on the site, I don't have that yet. In the mean time, I have a question. We are wanting to have two nice/romantic dinners while we're in WDW. Can anyone offer suggestions as to where to go? We will eat just about anything, so we're pretty open. I've just never really eaten at the nice places. Every time I went with my family, we opted for quick service dining. Thanks anyone for your help!

Congratulations! I'm so excited for you. Port Orleans is my all time favorite resort. The riverside has such a romantic feel to it. We are staying at the French Quarter for our wedding. If your looking to do romantic things you should look into taking a horse and carriage ride around the lake at Port Orleans at sunset. :)

Congratulations!!

You are going to have so much fun introducing Disney to your love!! I can't wait to hear all about it.

Some of our favorite restaurants are California Grill, Narcoosees, Fulton's, and The Brown Derby. We also really like Les Chefs de France and Bistro de Paris. I am castle OBSESSED, so I also love to have dinner at Cinderella's Royal Table...but I think it is overpriced for what it is. I count it in my budget as more of a dinner/theatre event to help feel better about the cost...

These are all on the more expensive side, but I think they all have nice atmosphere and really good to great food.

We've also had some lovely meals that I considered romantic at more casual places like the SciFi Dine In Theatre and The Plaza. A lot of it has to do with your mood -- so I suspect that EVERYWHERE you go on your honeymoon will feel romantic as you will be in such a happy romantic loving mood!

If you both enjoy sweets, I loved the Ghiradelli Soda Fountain at Downtown Disney, we sat at a table by the water and enjoyed our decadent sundaes...it was really romantic (and tasty too!!).

Enjoy your trip and each other...I'm sure you will have a wonderful time!!

Brooke

Thank y'all! We are so looking forward to our trip. And thanks for the tips on the restaurants. I've been running the menu's by him and so far, he hasn't found anything that doesn't sound good. We got real excited today because we made the final payment on our trip! Woo hoo! So now it's more official! :yay:

This week I've been filling out invitations and getting those ready to mail out. I think one of the things every bride kinda forgets about it paying for stamps. That got expensive really fast! I'm just glad that my invites were light enough that each outer envelope just needed one stamp. I'd be broke if they all needed two! Anyone else out there share my pain? Ha ha, oh well.

I can't wait to put up some pictures, guess I should go comment on some stuff to get to where I can. Have a great day/night everyone!

Alright, I finally reached my post requirement to get some pictures on here to share. I'll start with pictures of my FH and me.

Here is Evan, looking so cute in his sweater. Clearly this was several months ago. Summers in Oklahoma are definitely not sweater weather.

And here is our dog, Casey. He likes to sit and watch outside the window, especially when it's hot.

And here I am.

And one of us together at a baseball game. We are nuts for baseball.

I'll end this post with a story/ictures of our engagement. On July 9, he took me to dinner at Olive Garden, and then asked if we could go for a walk around the OSU campus. We got there and I left my phone in the car because I didn't want to carry it. He made a huge deal about needing it in case something happened so I went back and got it. We walked around for about half an hour til we got to the formal gardens.

Once we were there, my phone went off and I had a text message from Evan's friend Frank. He sent me a picture of my ring in the box. When I looked up, Evan was on his knee and asked me to be his wife! I turned because I was crying, but he thought I was turning to run. He almost started to cry himself. LOL. Of course I said yes, and now here we are ready to get married on October.

Well, did the dress shopping today. I think this is one of the most exciting things with the whole wedding experience.

We went to Alfred Angelo, because like most other Disney Brides, I had hopes of trying on the Disney line of dresses, specifically the Belle dress. Unfortunately, that dress did not fit my body type at all. I looked awful, but I realize that it's not for everyone so I went on my way trying on other dresses and found THE ONE. I tried to resize the image on photobucket, but it just came out blurry so we'll have to deal.

I love this dress so much! I can't wait til it gets here and I can wear it for my FH. I am not a dress person by any means but I felt confident and beautiful and this. It was a little more than I was planning to spend, but I think it will be worth it.

After that, we looked for some bridesmaid dresses, but couldn't find anything we were crazy about there, so we made our way to David's Bridal. I've got three bridesmaids, all different body types and one is my sister who is about to have a baby any day now (my first nephew! so excited!). However, the first dress we picked out looked great on everyone. I was so happy with it. My beautiful sister Anna is modeling hers for us in the picture. It's hard to tell, but it's a real deep purple, they call it Lapis.

Overall, it was a very fun/productive day. I couldn't have asked for it to go smoother. I guess I am lucky to have such wonderful people in my life to help with that.

My baby sister (she is actually 22) called me yesterday to tell me that she is going to be induced on the 29th if she hasn't had her son by then. So excited for William to get here! Time has crawled by since we found out she was pregnant. I'm sure I will post pictures as soon as he is here and with her permission. I'm counting it as wedding related because he'll be at the wedding.

And to get back on topic, got the invitations mailed out finally! I'll put an update of what I get back from WDW. I sent my invite in hoping to get a postcard back from Mickey and Minnie.

Have a great weekend everyone! Unless you are like me and it is the beginning of your work week.

I know it's a little off topic again, but I am just so happy! My nephew is here! William James was born at 7:15 last night (after 36 hours of labor) and weighed in a 9lbs, 8oz. I am so in love with him already!

Other than that, it's been quite a week. Dad turned 60 on Saturday, Mom fell and had to go to the hospital on Sunday, she will be fine. Hurt her neck a little, and her knee, and then my sis went into labor Wednesday. Not much wedding planning has gone on. My fiance's step grandmother did get us a discounted rate on our reception venue, so that is exciting. And we are finally getting to go pick out his wedding band. The first one we ordered didn't work out so well. They sent the wrong materials and the wrong size.

Anyway busy week, and I had to share baby William's picture!

Congrats on the nephew! What a big baby! Hope everything went well!

Thank you! My sister and nephew are doing great today. She'll be released tomorrow and they'll get to settle in at home. I know she spent a lot of time sleeping today so her husband got some quality father/son time. I went and picked out the cutest little suit for William to wear at the wedding. Can't wait to dress him up in it. 36 more days!

I love your proposal story...so sweet! I also was looking at that same figurine but I couldn't justify the cost. DF told me that the money could be put towards something extra special at Disney, so I decided to save it for then :) Congrats on the nephew, I love his name!!!

Thank you! I love little William so much. He's adorable. I can't wait to spoil him more. He's gonna love his Aunt Jacque. My DF told me the same thing as yours did about the figurine. It was just way to expensive. Like you said, more money for the honeymoon! I think we are just going to skip the cake topper all together and get some sugar flowers on top of the cake.

This week as flown by! And now, as I am sitting at work, I am looking at the calender and realizing I've only got 29 days until the big day! Woo hoo! Sometimes it seems like it will never get here, sometimes it seems like I don't have enough time to finish everything. This week was fairly productive though. We bought Evan's wedding band. Well, we bought him another one. The first one we had ordered online through a company called Goldenmine and they sent the wrong size and the ring looked cheap and was totally not want he wanted. We returned it and went and picked one out at Kay and he loves it.

I spent lots and lots of time with new nephew William on Monday and today. He is so wonderful. And what's really cool, he is only a week old and he can roll himself over and push himself up. I see a strong boy in the future. Maybe even an NFL linebacker or Jiu Jitsu champion. :cheer2:

Also today I picked up my bridesmaids dresses and groomsmen's shirts. So excited they came in! However....my dress is still not here yet!:worried: I called Alfred Angelo and they said not to worry, it might be here next week. I don't know how they expect me not to worry, but we'll see what happens.

Another thing I am anxiously awaiting is my Mickey Mail. I work nights and am usually sleeping in the middle of the day, but I set my alarm so I can go check the mail at noon and then go back to bed. :lmao: I am so ready for our honeymoon!

I guess that is all today. I will have some pictures next time of dresses and shirts. My phone is being wonky.

30 days out from the honeymoon and we got our Mickey Mail today! I was ecstatic to say the least. I am sure my DF didn't quite know what to think, but once he visits the World for the first time, I am sure he will understand.

Aside from that, I have no other news today. Just one day closer! Yippee!

Hope y'all have a wonderful day!

And still no dress!:confused3 I am starting to get really nervous, and a little bit upset with Alfred Angelo. They have assured me it's been shipped to the store, but say they can't track where it's at. It was supposed to get there two weeks ago, then last Friday, then yesterday. Everything else has come through just fine, but this one little thing is gonna make me pull my hair out! Ugh!

On the bright side, since we are 21 days from the wedding, we are 23 days from the honeymoon! I am beyond excited! And my fiance is starting to get more excited the closer we get. I know he is going to love it just as much as I do.
:goodvibes

Anyway, I finished my centerpieces this week, and think they turned out well.
IMAG0535.jpg

I will be putting flowers in half of them and floating candles in the other half. The wax seal on the raffia was a pain. I actually caught the wax on fire, then the raffia, then a small spot on the carpet. Fiance was not excited about that, but it's only a dime shaped spot and just looks like dirt. We need to recarpet anyway.

I also bought purple flower petals to sprinkle on the tables, a bunch of purple and white paper lanterns and a canopy for the dance floor. Hobby Lobby and Oriental Trading are awesome.

I think that pretty much sums up the week. Hope y'all are having an awesome day!

Alfred Angelo is usually really reliable. I'm sorry you didn't get a dress yet, nothing like the added stress! Hope it comes in for you soon!!
