The family and I returned home to the "real world" on Sunday. Our trip was fantastic and overwhelming and completely exhausting. Totally worth every penny!!
On to the reviews!!

1st Day
Lunch - Port Orleans Riverside Food Court
DH had a burger and fries which were underwhelming.
The kids were starving so DD had the chicken strips and fries (enjoyed them), DS had a pizza (loved it) and I used the kids meal credit for a teeny tiny piece of fish and five french fries. Blah. I was a little nervous that this would be the dining experience everywhere!!
:scared1:

Dinner - Whispering Canyon - Wilderness Lodge
Tons of fun! So glad our DTA made our reservations beforehand because it was a zoo! Lots of people being turned away.
DH - Chicken and Ribs combo
Me - Skillet
DS - Burger
DD - Chicken Dinner
Only complaint TOO MUCH FOOD
We wasted enough food to serve two other families. I felt sick about that.
Our server Jon, aka "Big Al" was wonderful.
The adult skillet is big enough to share, food was good. Beans were awesome!
The adult chicken dinner had THREE huge pieces of chicken, mashed potatoes and a veggie. My daughter barely finished one piece.
DS liked his burger.
The milkshakes here are KILLER. They will let the kids have milkshakes on the kids dining plan.
Dessert was chocolate cake and pecan pie which we took back to the room with us. We never ate them sadly. Too much food all week!
:thumbsup2
Day 2
Dinner at Boatwright's. Port Orleans Riverside
This restaurant is under-reviewed and not recognized nearly enough. The food AND service was absolutely top drawer. I think our servers name was Maria. She was a total sweetheart and took her time to explain the menu, what the kids might like and might not and how she would make sure that certain items could be left off if they didn't like them. She made the milkshake exception for our child dining credit so my ds wasnt' left out.
Appetizers: Red Bean and Beef Soup - out of this world kinda good!
Shrimp Cocktail - DS had this and felt SO grown up. Loved it and ate it all.
Chicken Noodle Soup- old fashioned goodness, daughter ate every last drop
Crawfish Cakes - so good my hubby will make the trip back to Disney JUST for those
Dinner:
Steak and Crawfish on the top - Again, DH raved about it
Shrimp and Scallop Linguine - DS gave it a good go - it's a big portion loaded with seafood. He really enjoyed it!
Chicken Fingers - DD ate them all
Pecan Crusted Chicken - HUGE portion, very good!
:thumbsup2

Day 3
Magic Kingdom
Snacks: Dole Whip (worth the search!), Ice Cream Floats
Lunch: The Launching Pad
Reminded me of a high school cafeteria line up. Quick service though even at peak lunch time. Sorry, I can't remember what everyone had!
Me - Chicken Caesar Salad, carrot sticks (kids dining plan) VERY tasty! Fresh salad and tender chicken. Highly recommend.
DS - Burger and Fries, unsweetened brownie - same old same old burger and fries. He said the brownie was kinda gross. I took a bite. It wasn't TERRIBLE, but I wouldn't pay out of pocket for it.
DD - Chicken Fingers - she really enjoyed it a lot. Huge portion though.
DH - Roasted Chicken - large serving, fresh and a nice flavour.

Dinner: Tony's Town Tavern
I had read many reviews about this place and waffled a lot on it. I was glad that I stuck with my decision. Wonderful meal! Our server was efficient and quick even though very busy.
Appetizers
Spinach and Asiago Cheese Dip - holy hannah! I could have eaten this all on it's own. FANTASTIC!!!!
Calamari - Husband and son shared this. LOVED it. Large serving included whole squid, deep fried which I found totally unappealing but they dug in.
Entrees
The kids both had spaghetti and meatballs. Huge portions but they really enjoyed it.
I had the penne. If I had the room in my tummy I would have eaten it all. It was very authentic Italian. Beautifully prepared!
DH had a steak that was incredible. He ate it all with lots of mmmmm's.
Dessert:
DS had a sundae with Mickey Mouse head sprinkles.
The rest of us managed to fit in the dessert platter - a trio with Tiramisu, 2 canolis and cheesecake. Yummy! And not so much that it was overwhelming.
An exceptional meal with excellent service. And the atmosphere is lovely too.
:thumbsup2

Day 4
Animal Kingdom
It was a brutally hot and humid day and we were all a little cranky and tired of wandering. I had planned on the Flame Tree BBQ, but the Restaurantasaurus came up first so we ate there. It's your typical McDonald's crapola, but the Jello was good.lol And the older gentleman working at the counter was a delight.
Snacks - Frozen Lemonade - perfect on a hot day
Dinner - BOMA! Animal Kingdom Lodge
Okay, *I* loved it. The family, not so much. However, it wasn't because the food was bad, they're just not adventurous.
A few of the things we ate:
Potato and Bacon Soup-:thumbsup2
Mullagatawyn Soup - :thumbsup2
Herb Crusted Prime Rib - :thumbsup2
Pork Tenderloin - :thumbsup2
Potatoes with Afritude - :thumbsup2
Pan and Sheeba - :scared1: Okay, this was gross. It's like grits with tomatoes in it.
Mealie Bread - :thumbsup2
Fufu - :thumbsup2 It's like squash but tastes like pumpkin pie. mmmmmm
Salmon with Coconut and Curry Sauce - :thumbsup2
Passion Fruit Meringue Tarts - It was alright.
Zebra Domes - Honestly, I didn't understand all the people raving about them. They were alright, but nothing to write home about.
Nut Roll - It had a name but I can't recall it now. it was very heavy but tasty. Take a smallll piece!
Boma was a neat experience, but I don't think I'd eat there again.
:thumbsup2

Day 5
Downtown Disney Day!
Lunch - Earl of Sandwich (counter service)
Again, another underrated and overlooked spot! Terrific sandwiches and fresh fresh fresh salads. A great bang for your buck. An adult can easily share a sandwich or a large salad. The cookies are quite tasty too!
DH - Cannonball Sub - really enjoyed it, very filling
Me - The kids Turkey and Cheese. Awesome!
DD and DS - Chicken Caesar salads. Huge and they loved them.
Chocolate Chip, Oatmeal Raisin cookies and Brownies. All pre-wrapped so you can take them with you because I promise you, you'll be full from the sandwiches.

Dinner
Wolfgang Puck's
Again, I waffled on this place because my family are pretty meat and potatoes people. Glad my DTA told me to stick with it. It was great! Our server Lisa D was a delight and made sure the kids were happy and that we were well taken care of.
Appetizers - spinach dip all around, bread,
Entree's
The kids both had pizzas. DD had the plain cheese and DS had the adult pizza with the cremini mushrooms and other stuff. It was very good and they ate it all. Thin crust too.
DH had the alfredo with two different kinds of meat but I can't remember what they were ! Sorry! He really enjoyed it.
Me - Ugh, can't remember but I know I liked it. lol
Dessert - Carrot cake and Cheesecake. We took it with us as we were too full. It tasted alright but nothing too spectacular.
:thumbsup2

Day 6
MGM Grand
Lunch - Pizza Planet
The atmosphere is loud, counter service. The service was very quick.
We had cheese and pepperoni pizzas with garden salads. (I think they were called the Woody meals and Buzz meals). They had a nice selection of dressings for the salad. The pizza was very very good. I was quite impressed at the quality.

Dinner: Sci Fi Dine In
If we had been paying for this dinner, i would have sent everyone's back. Thank god it was dark in there because I was afraid of what my steak was supposed to really look like. On the upside, our server (I think it was Janet) was a real peach. Very friendly, quite efficient. I have no fault with her at all.
Appetizers
Onion Rings - standard, greasy fair - It's a lot so get one to share.
Spinach Dip - not as good as Tony's but pretty decent!
I had a vanilla Coke which was really a treat. The milkshakes were terrific.
Dinner
DH and Myself - Butcher Steak, scalloped potatoes with cheese on top, green beans and carrot mixed in a garlic butter. The steak was like leather. God awful and kinda burnt. But to even it out, the potatoes were undercooked. lol The veggies were good. I ate them.
DD - Caesar Salad. They forgot to put on the dressing. Blah.
DS - Burger that was burnt and french fries that were "hollow".
Yeah, the atmosphere was really cool and truth be told, it was the only quiet restaurant we ate in for 9 days but never, ever again would I eat there. I'd go in for a milkshake and a relaxing break though.
:thumbsup2

Day 7
Epcot
I was soooo looking forward to our meals here and I wasn't disappointed!
It was another hot and steamy day and shade was at a premium.
Snacks - Gelatto in Italy

Lunch - San Angel in Mexico
The service was quick even though I completely butchered the names of the food. The server was great about it. lol
DH - nachos - huge serving, he ate most of it
DD - Chicken Quesadilla (kids meal). Really enjoyed it, big enough for an adult
DS - Tacos - messy! Get a knife and fork! lol Came with a black bean salsa and salad. He must have liked it cause he ate it all!
Me - Combo plate - UGH. NOT a good choice on a hot day. It sits like lead. It tastes great and it's enough to share for sure! It had a black bean salsa, taco, burrito and another wrapped up thing with melted cheese in it. We also had churros and buenelos for dessert, although we were full and hot and didn't eat much of it. The birds enjoyed them though.
We sat at a bistro table beside the lake which was lovely.

Dinner
Where else? Le Cellier!!!!
This place did NOT fail to impress. I am Canadian and couldn't wait to get here. As we sat in the lobby waiting for our table, the hostess played Canadian trivia with the American guests who were also waiting. We were not allowed to laugh or help in any way. Some of the questions were to us, ridiculous, (like the national food of Canada are fried beaver tails dipped in salt) but everyone was in good humour and it's so refreshing to be with people who aren't afraid to laugh at their silly mistakes. Everyone had a good time and she made the time fly by.
Appetizers
DH - Cheese Soup - delicious!
Me - Caesar Salad - terrific dressing. Just enough to whet the appetite.
DD - kids Cheese Soup - she loved it
DS - Shrimp Cocktail - he ate it all!
Dinner
DH and Me - Maple Glazed Fillet Mignon with cream cheese mashed potatoes. OUT OF THIS WORLD!!! You didn't even need a knife to cut it. Absolutely fantastic. The glaze was perfect, not overwhelming.
DD - chicken strips - again, the sucky kids menu. But she enjoyed it.
DS - had a seafood dish that he really loved too.
Dessert - DS had the Campfire Smores. Too sweet he said, but he gave it a good go!
DD had an ice cream sundae.
Me - I had the creme brulee. The perfect compliment to the meal.
Our server was a very nice girl from the East Coast and did a wonderful job making sure we were well taken care of.

Day 8
Lunch - Port Orleans French Quarter Food Court
Another delightful surprise!
DD - chicken wrap - excellent, fresh tasty chicken. Came with home made chips. It's big enough for two to share.
DS - Chicken Quesidilla - again, excellent. He really enjoyed it!
Milkshakes to drink (for those on the dining plan this counts as a drink AND a dessert here).
Beignets - These are like a fried donut, but they're square and hollow on the inside, coated with icing sugar. Meh. I can take it or leave it. The kids really liked them. If you are on the dining plan, they count as a snack credit and you can order either 3 or 6 for 1 snack credit. I felt truly bad for the woman working at that particular counter. She couldnt' make them fast enough as people were ordering 2 and 3 dozen at a time. She wasn't really happy about it either.
Dinner
Liberty Tree Tavern - Character Meal - Mickey's Not So Scary Hallowe'en Party
This place was a madhouse. lol We had reservations but it was still a zoo. The staff were all in full make up for the evening and characters were in costumes. The atmosphere was very festive and everyone was in good spirits.
The food was alright. If you are a traditional kind of eater, this is right up your alley.
Our server was very pleasant and efficient. We started with the salad with the strawberry vinagrette. A nice mix of greens and tomatoes, cucumbers, etc. Along with some terrific biscuits and a sweet butter. Very tasty!
Dinner was pork tenderloin, roast beef and ham on a platter - underneat the meat was a very nice stuffing. The meat was a little dry but not terrible. We also had mashed potatoes, green beans and carrots and macaroni and cheese. My kids were not terribly impressed with this meal but there were items that they did enjoy.
Dessert was apple crisp and vanilla ice cream. YUM! Just like home made.
The characters all came to our table at least twice and were very accommodating and goofed around with the kids. There were a lot of over-stimulated kids in that joint. lol I think the cast members were relieved that two kids weren't trying to climb all over them. lol

Day 9
Breakfast - Port Orleans Riverside Food Court
2 kids breakfasts - Mickey Waffles, bacon, sausage and applesauce. REALLY good! I was pleasantly surprised!
We had some counter service credits left so we headed back to DTD for lunch at Earl of Sandwich again. It didn't disappoint! Don't be discouraged if it's busy. The staff there have it down to a science and you are in and out quite quickly in spite of the crowds. Have someone find a table and you do the ordering. Much easier.
DH - The original beef - loved it
ME- The club - packed full, absolutely delicious
DS - Turkey and Cheese kids sandwich
DD - Chicken Caesar Salad again
:thumbsup2
I still have to total up the receipts but I'm sure it's over $2000 for meals. Thank goodness for the free dining! I wouldn't pay for the dining plan if my kids were going to be considered kids. The kids menu is really limited and not all that terrific. But when you take into consideration that our dinner check averaged $150, it's worth it. I would have to weigh in the new dining plan for 2008 though.
All in all, an exceptional dining experience!
Any questions, just PM me!

Really enjoyed reading your reviews, thanks for posting.

Great reviews. It sounds as if your family had a great time.:thumbsup2

Some of the items at Boatwrights must be new. Things like the steak and crawfish, crawfish cakes, and red bean and beef soup weren't there when I went back in May (and aren't on the menus posted on the DIS). Sounds like they've added some new delicious items recently.

Thanks for posting such great reviews. We have eaten at some of the places you mentioned and enjoyed the meals as you did (with the exception of Boatwright's...it was the worse meal we had on the trip). Some of the others you reviewed we will be trying on next year's trip. Thank God for free dining!

SherylR, thanks for all your info. I have a quick question--I assume that you stayed at POR. How did you get to/from POFQ? Is it walkable? Thanks!;)
