Made the decision to resign from my job today. I've been treated very badly by my employer, and while I probably have grounds to take the matter further, I won't.
I'm (I was....!) a Deputy Manager in a private nursing home, and I worked a 38 hour week, working 12 hour days and some weekends. But I asked if I could change my working hours due to the fact that DH is working away all the time at the moment and so I needed to be there for the kids.

They agreed to allow me to work Monday to Friday, working just over 30 hours per week. Then I was told a couple of weeks ago that a new 'Deputy Manager' was to start, and I would be demoted. :guilty: I wasn't told this when they allowed me to change my hours. I'm not sure if this is even legal!!!!

So this new Deputy started on Monday. I feel so humiliated that the only thing I can do is resign. So I have 4 weeks notice to work - and find a new job!!

Sorry to hear about your job woes. Here is hoping you find a better job quickly so you can plan Disney again.
Best of Luck

don't blame you for resigning over that, what a way to be treated :sad2:
sure you'll find another job soon that you'll be very happy in
good luck! :wizard:

Sounds like the only thing you could have done in the circumstances. All the best finding another (and better :) ) job. :wizard:

cath it sounds like they treated you very badly, im sure you will find a much better job
good luck :)

I'm really sorry Cath!! It's a disgraceful way to treat you- I'm sure you've done a really good job. Well it's their loss and I'm sure they'll appreciate what they had when they've lost you. Good for you - not an easy decision but you've come away with your dignity intact and I'm sure you'll find a better job really soon. :grouphug:

What a horrible way to be treated.

Good luck with the job search.

Cath

They have treated you badly. fingers crossed for a new job soon :)

Cath, I am appalled by how you have been treated. I'm not sure it's legal either?

Sometimes the best thing to do for your own sanity and mental well being is to call it quits. Good for you for having the courage to do that!

Good luck to you my friend and I'm sure there is another far better job for you out there.

:grouphug: I'm so sorry to hear about how awful your employers have been, I've been in your shoes, and when I handed in my notice (even though I was worried about a new job) I felt relieved that I'd done it. :wizard: I'm sending some pixie-dust to wish you lots of luck as you look for a new job and once again GOOD LUCK !!!

There must be something better out there, but from the little I know what your (ex)employers have done is illegal under UK and EU law. If your children are under 6 you have even stronger rights, but in the meantime go to your local CAB and ask what thye think.

Good luck :grouphug:

Obviously I don't know the full circumstances, but what you've said sounds like a case of "constructive dismissal" to me. I would go to the Citizen's Advice Bureau. You may have a case for compensation. :wizard:

Good luck with finding an alternative job.

I would find out if there is anything you can do.I think they (BOSSES)think they can please themselfs. Good luck on finding a new and better job :grouphug:

Lots of luck in finding a better job soon - there'll be one out there somewhere for you :)

Commiserations Cath but congratulations on having a whole new set of opportunities open up for you, take the time to decide what will really make you happy and persue that career!, in the meantime :grouphug: for feeling pushed out

I don't blame you I think I would've resigned. Good Luck with your job hunting:)

I know exactly how you feel Cath, 10 years ago I did the same thing. I was fortunate enough to find a job to go to before my notice ended and I've been here ever since. It really was the best thing and I hope it is for you too. Fingers crossed you too will find another job very soon and more importantly one that will appreciate you and make you happy.
