Made the decision to resign from my job today. I've been treated very badly by my employer, and while I probably have grounds to take the matter further, I won't.
I'm (I was....!) a Deputy Manager in a private nursing home, and I worked a 38 hour week, working 12 hour days and some weekends. But I asked if I could change my working hours due to the fact that DH is working away all the time at the moment and so I needed to be there for the kids.
They agreed to allow me to work Monday to Friday, working just over 30 hours per week. Then I was told a couple of weeks ago that a new 'Deputy Manager' was to start, and I would be demoted.
I wasn't told this when they allowed me to change my hours. I'm not sure if this is even legal!!!!
So this new Deputy started on Monday. I feel so humiliated that the only thing I can do is resign. So I have 4 weeks notice to work - and find a new job!!
