iTunes question

I don't really know much about iPods at all, so this question may sound stupid.
Can anyone tell me what the easiest way is to get iTunes songs from a desk top computer to a laptop?

Install iTunes on the laptop

Copy the songs to the laptop and add them to your iTunes library

You'll get a message asking if you want to authorize the songs. iTunes allows you to have the songs on 5 different computers.
