iTunes question

My son has an iPod and he has been downloading music onto our computer and then syncing his iPod with the computer - thus putting ALL the songs onto the iPod. Now, my daughter has an iPod and wants some, but not all of the songs downloaded onto it, so syncing is not an option.

How do 2 people use one iTunes library and only get the songs that they want on thier iPods?

Set up a separate play list and only move the songs you want into it.

My husband and I each have our own library on our computer. You can share songs between libraries.

change the auto sync settings for her iPod and just have her upload her playlist. I'm sure there is a lot of help for his in the apple forums or in the iLounge forums.

Set up a separate play list and only move the songs you want into it.

Make a separate play-list for each child. Then click & drag the songs you want from your library into the individual play-lists.

just set up the ipod so you can manually upload songs. In the bottom right hand corner of itunes (when an ipod is connected) there's a little ipod icon, this displays your ipod options. click it and select manually manage songs and playlists. This allows you to choose exactly what music in the library you want on your ipod.

We have two ipods in my house and one itunes library, so my music (cool hip stuff) and my dad's music (old fogey stuff) can peacefully coexist in the same place. Just make sure you NEVER switch back to automatically update ipod, that will erase all your music and replace it with what's in your library.
