Vija, have you returned? I miss you :( Do you have a new challenge for us this week? We are all journaling and staying in point range (looking forward never back!) and drinking our water, what's next?

Measuring condiments? (am I the only one who is 50/50 on this?)

5 fruits/veggies a day?

3 milk servings a day?

Extra 30 mins exercise session this week?

No breads, pasta, or rice after 4 p.m.?

Trying a new WW recipe this week?

C'mon, I'm letting you all in on my weaknesses...............

I know she is around!! I talked to her yesterday!! I think she is still asleep!! I know she will have something fun.......I hope that is a good word for us!!

I think she is still asleep!!

You cought me!!! Guilty as charged, but I was up WAYYYYYY late yesterday planning our trip itinerary!

OK, well how about we do an exercise challenge this week??? In honor of the 1/2 marathon that many of us are planning on and some are thinking about?

I know everyone is at a different point with exercise so sign up and tell us what you will do. here are some ideas.

If you aren't exercising at all....
1. walk outside 3x this week. (even if it is just around the block, small baby steps will get us there)
2. borrow an exercise video tape from the library and do what you can 3x this week.

If you have been inconsistently exercising....
1. commit certain days, schedule them in your calendar today and make the commitment (no excuses!).

If you already have a program...
1. Increase your intensity,
2. Add an extra day
3. Try a different exercise... tae bo, a different machine, take an aerobics class, go swim, adding in weights

What do you think? But please do this safely!!! Don't overdo it, and don't stress your bodies to the point of hurting them, challenging your body is excellent!

For me, I have been inconsistently exercising, so here is my plan...

A) Call for an appointment with the personal trainer
1. to get a long range plan in place to do the 1/2 marathon
2. To commit to 1x a week at the gym through the summer
3. to balance home workouts for best fitness improvements.

B) Exercise
Wednesday....walk outside
Thursday.... WATP tape
Friday.... hopefully a gym day (depending on the trainers schedule), if not then will switch with Mon or Tues
Saturday....If nice weather go for walk outside with family
Sunday...... work day (try to get in extra steps by doing some stocking of the department)
Monday.... Day off
Tuesday.....aerobics tape

So, I have scheduled in 4 days of exercise, and am going to have a long range plan in place. I'll keep you posted on my success!

Ok Since I do something everyday since April 1 here goes. Wendsday today Walk 1 mile do 100 crunches and 50 leg lifts each leg.

Thursday walk 2 mile doo 50 leg lifts each leg and 100 crunches.

Friday Pilates for 30 minutes, 100 crunches 60 leg lifts and 5 reps with hand weights.

Saturday Pilates for 30 minutes 5 reps with hand weight walk 1 mile, 100 crunches and 60 leg lifts.

Sunday -same as saturday

Monday walk 2 miles and do 100 crunches, 65 leg lifts and 6 reps with hand weights

Tuesday same as monday.

What do you think. I either walk do pilates or crunches now but only 1 of the three everyday!! So this really intensifies things!! I think I can do this for a week. Just keep this bumped up to the top please so I know what I said I would do. ! mile walk is in for the day now just the rest to go!!!

I'm not on WW --- but Vija said I may join in on these generic challenges! I think 'we' should do the one with no carbs after 4pm --- I could do that one really well!(I'm on Atkins for those of you that didn't know!);)

As my friend Vija knows -- I do not excersize AT ALL! I work in my in-home office and the most activity I usually get is walking next door to the bathroom (the room next to the office) and walking the short distance to the mailbox. I have my treadmill in my kitchen but have slacked.

This week will be TOM for me and I have a medical problem that sometimes causes me to be very inactive during that time BUT I will accept a challenge to walk 4 out of the next 7 days for at least 15 minutes. I know that isn't alot --- but I've been doing absolutely NOTHING lately! Is that an okay goal for this week Vija?

I will still continue the water! These are add on challenges right? So the staying within points from week one [I'm staying within my carb count] and water intake from week two are still in effect?
:D

Jiminy102, yes, that sounds like a great challenge for you!

Wovenwoner, I think that is an excellent goal for you! Plan in the days that you want to do it, and schedule it. Let us know so we can cheer you on. And yes, they are add on goals.

I have to kick it in gear as I have had a very rough week, but that's ok, a new week, a new challenge... pretty soon a new me!

I forgot to mention that we need to HAVE fun when we do this. Schedule in some sort of extra reward if you want as well.

I just got my walk in for the day already, and I walked to the gas station as part of the walk and bought myself a lottery ticket. wouldn't that be cool if I won? It would be a direct result of getting up and walking! Either way I win, healthy heart!

Also I had fun, because there was a curb during part of the walk, and my kids always try and "balance beam" it and go across it. I was in a playfull mood, and got up and walked across like a balance beam, arms out and the whole thing. A guy was driving by at that time and just looked at me!:earseek: I think just like that! ;) Anyway, I laughed and thought, I just had fun, you should join me!

No carbs after 4:00 p.m.??!!! NO WAY. I could not live without popcorn while watching Survivor :( .

I've been walking almost every day (either outside or on the treatmill depending on the weather). I will keep that up plus do a half an hour of stretching, floor exercises every night that I watch TV--instead of just laying the couch with my popcorn and diet soda ;) .

Oh, and don't let Mother nature stop you if it is raining! Take that walk anyway.

I heard this once, and it gets me out walking even in crummy weather days.....

If you don't melt while taking a shower, you should be able to walk in the rain!

(visual from the Wizard of Oz, if you will.........)

Bichon Barb, that is an excellent idea, I think I might borrow that one. I waste too much time while watching tv. I am trying to cut down, but this way I will be helping my body if I stretch, or do crunches perhaps.

Well, I've been doing Curves 3x a week, and I'm really trying to up the intensity each time. So that will be my challenge! :)

Ok, I have not been exercising, so I'll try it! I promise to walk outside at least 3 times this week. That will be fri/sat/sun, because my night classes keep me tied up during the week! As long as it gets done, who cares when! Wish me luck!! ;)

OK, I'm in again this week. I have been walking on the treadmill 25 min. a day at the highest incline for 6 days a week. I have also just added some various exercises twice a week.

My goal for the week will be to increase my time 30 min. 6 days a week, continue my other exercises and start doing crunches everyday. I will continue to journal and drink my water:D .

It makes a difference when you make a plan and a committment! Good luck everyone!

As long as you don't walk to Taco Bell, Tiffany. All will be well!

Oh no, my pm buddy has just shared my weakness with the world... Thanks for the reminder Debbie! I'll "try" to be a good girl this weekend!! ;)

Ok, here's what my goal has been: some activity 4 x week (walking, yoga, jogging, bicycling, toning or FIRM video) I have been consistent with 5 days for the past three weeks, so I'm now officially changing my goal to be some activity 5 x week. That is big for me b/c I always looked at beyond 4 as a bonus, if I've kept it up for a few weeks I need to think of it as a norm.

So, for this week I will do 5 activities:

Wednesday: toning video
Thursday: long walk
Friday: Y workout with casual 1/2 hour swim
Sat: jog/hand weights or tae-bo (have to dust that tape off!)
Sun: bike ride bonus or day off
Mon: jog/hand weights or yoga
Tues: jog/hand weights (or tae-bo if not sat)

*edited 5/9/03 for scheduleding conflicts and ability to go to Y - again on 5/14 to show actual
Actual:
Wed: toning video
Thurs: long walk (increased time 15 mins)
Fri: Y Workout (increased cardio 10 mins)
Sat: tae-bo
Sun: day off
Mon: jog and first day of 6 day workout from Shape Magazine
Tues: Cardio machines 30 mins and Day 2 workout

Also, for the record Barb, I suggested "no bread, potatoes, pasta or rice after 4 pm" Never would I say no popcorn! Seriously, I didn't mean no carbs, I was aiming for cutting out the refined stuff and super starchy stuff late in the day and have dinners/snacks full of veggies, fruits, and protein. I love my popcorn too - espeically Kettle Korn 3 pts for the whole bag!

And, Jody, I'm definately looking at this as a progressive challenge (point range, water, exercise, and..............) But i'm not in charge, I just think I am at times!

Shake your groove thing ladies!

Ok I said I would do so much this week I have no clue what I said I would do!!! So I am going to try to keep this on Page one so I can find it!!!

I finally found this on page 4!! Either we are all soooo good we didn't need this thread hanging around to keep us on track - or, well, I don't even want to think about the alternative!

I'm going to bump! this back up and edit my post to show what I planned vs. what I actually did. this should be interesting........

Vija - we are ready for our next challenge!!!

I just posted it!!! go check it out, it will be a fun one!

Exercise went well for me. I got in a lot more walking than I would have, and I worked out to some aerobics songs yesterday outside. I hope I didn't scare the neighbors too bad!;)
