You guys are talking about which rooms to request so I am looking for some advice. It will be me,dad and kids, age 8 and 10. Any suggestions on a building I should request? When would I request it? Any other suggestions would be great... Thanks

Of all the moderate resorts, it sounds like the most peaceful, with nice riverwalks and lovely grounds. I have seen many people say that the grounds out do some of the deluxe resorts!
As far as things being more spread out, that does not worry me at all - let's face it, there's a lot of walking to be had at WDW anyway.
We normally arrive in Orlando from the UK around 2pm at the airport, and about 4pm at the resort (this is the first time we have stayed on Disney, it's normally Lake Buena Vista). We often spend a couple of hours in DTD, walking there from the hotel on Hotel Plaza Blvd. This time, we'll be able to take a boat!
Looking forward to it - I'm over 40 now but feel like a teenager just thinking about it!
My family and I stayed at the POR this past November. It is beautiful!! We had our two children along, but it definitely is a great resort for romance!dizneyheart said:Thanks for your response. My husband and I are both 50 and are traveling without the kids. Since he has not been to Disney since 1980 (I was there in 2001) this will be a great treat. For his 50th birthday I gave him the Richard Petty driving experience ( he will look great in that suit and helmet)![]()

Make sure you book in advance if you want to take a carriage ride. We tried to make reservations once we got there, but it was already booked. They only had one opening and we had dinner plans for that night.

We'd like to try the bayou section and I was looking at the map and I'd like to request building 27, but it's listed as smoking, but I've seen others post it as non-smoking? Does anyone know for sure which it is?Or if smoking is allowed in all of these buildings - 17, 18, 27, 28?

I have been several times but have never stayed on the property. So far I have changed our choice of hotel several times. I want this trip to be romantic and fun. We are an older couple but have only been married for a year. Is this the right place to stay. We would like a moderate hotel.
