Will be at POR 07/16 - 07/23. Requesting the Magnolia Bend section. Thinking about Magnolia Terrace or either Parterre Place. Pros of Magnolia Terrace are that it is closer to the main pool but at the last bust stop while Parterre Place is close enough that you can walk to the main stop. I've seen threads here that it is about 4-5 minutes to main building from Parterre Place and 7-8 minutes from Magnolia Terrace. I have 2 children ages 11 and 9. I'm torn between being able to get on the bus at the first stop in AM if staying at Parterre Place versus being able to get off the bus in PM right by building Magnolia Terrace? Any suggestions? Some of the horror stories I've seen about the bus service have me nervous.

It sounds as if building 14 is the best to ask for in AB. Does anyone know if they have a pool view from this building? How far is the main pool from here? We are coming in October and have never stayed at this resort before, so I am a little confused. Thanks!!

Does anyone know if POR beds has enough space to fit suitcases under there? We had a terrible stay at GF and now considering two moderate rooms instead of the deluxes - just wondering how much storage space they have? How much drawer space. We're a family of five so technically we could all stay in one room but I don't know how much space they have. Has anyone stayed with a family of five for a length of time (10 to 12 days) and now felt really cramped?

BTW we went over to POR for the carriage ride and River Roost Lounge SHow and it looked really nice.

The beds are high and there is plenty of rrom to store luggage underneath. It may be a little more difficult with the bed that has the trundle underneath. The drawers are quite large also. To me, you should have enough room. If you haven't already, check out my POR review thread with pics.

Wow - your pictures look great. It looks like a resort the kids will love. I know we'll miss the monorail but I think we'll all enjoy this resort. I'd love to be able and save a ton of money but having all of us in one room. (We spent so much money for this trip - 15 nights at GF and 2 nights and Nick Hotel). Do you think that would be too crowded. THe kids are getting older (they'll be 6, 7 and 8) and don't spend as much time in the room as they used to so I thought maybe we could get by. GIve me your honest opinion.

DisneyMomx7...

We stayed at POR in March for 6 nights with 3 full grown teenagers and we loved it!

As another poster stated, lots of room under the one bed (trundle under the other). For the amount of time you are actually in the room, it worked out incredibly well for us (mind you we tend to be organized and keep things tidy)!

Would stay again without hesitation!

We are going on a DCL cruise Sept 2006. We have decided to come in Friday before the cruise and DD wants to stay here, she has never been here.
My DH, DS and I stayed here in the AB section when it was Dixielandings. DD wants to stay in the Mansion.
Tell me if I am wrong but the only smoking buildings are AB 18 and Oak mansion?

Thanks

Thanks - we also keep things organized and neat (bring shoe racks and toiletries holders as well) so I think we could manage. It was different when the kids were younger and napped longer etc. Now I think they'll enjoy the resort more and room less.

Is Parterre Place close to French Quarter as well? I cant wrap my brain on how long it will take to walk to French Quarter (they were booked, and DD is a huge Dragon Fan!!) to slide down the Dragon!!

Also, if anyone reading this has stayed at Parterre Place, the mansions look on the map to be larger (ie more rooms in the mansions) than the AB section - is there really a difference, or is it all good?? How many floors at these resorts?? (2? 3? 4? or more???)

And one more, is it possible to find out how many connecting rooms the Mansions have? I know I've read a post or two on some rooms having corner rooms that connected???

we stayed at the AB with 7yro twins and 11yro and my messy DD. we had plenty of room!! the Trundle bed was really great and the twins always flipped a Disney Coin to see who would sleep there each night!! there was a pool right in back of our room and so they were all very happy in the resort

Who do I contact about the carriage rides?

How far in advance should and can I do it?

Is there a cancellation policy?

Do any of the mansion rooms look over the river?

I reserved a king. Requested top floor, end room, mansion.

Are the mansions pretty quiet or is it the AB section.

I need this trip for peace and serenity. HELP.

Call 407-WDW-PLAY for reservations.

Your carriage ride should be cancelled with more than 24 hours notice if needed. If not, you’ll be charged the full price of $30 to the credit card they take to secure the reservation,

I think you can make reservations 90 days out.

Yes- several mansions face the water- but not all rooms in the mansion face the water. They are also a little bit longer walk from the dining hall- but its a pleasent walk and wont seem long at all (IMHO)

Is there anywhere I can see pictures of the rooms? I know I said Mansions is where I was requesting but the AB looks a lot more private. Is that true?

Can guests of PO-R swim at PO-FQ? Are they still considered "sister" resorts?

thanks!

When I booked my reservation last week, I asked the CM and he said no. Everyone I've spoken to on here has said that he was wrong. I was told that the pool says "For Port Orleans Guests Only". It doesn't say POFQ or POR only.

You absolutely can use both pools. When you receive the Sassagoula Newspaper upon check-in it lists the amenities of both resorts to use.

They are sister resorts and all amenities are available to guests staying at either one.

You certainly can swim at both pools. We didn't, simply because as a couple with no kids we were happy with the POFQ pool- gotta love the theming! However, if I had kids I might want to give them the opportunity to explore a different pool.

Enjoy!!
