I submitted a question about the butterfly garden & here is the response posted in the newsletter:

That's great, thanks for checking. Would you mind letting me know the details of the newsletter you received (was it mouseforless?) or an email address, as I'd like to ask them for permission to include that info in my Port Orleans website.

BTW, I only have one more week to go :yay:

The Butterfly Garden - when it says "behind the Acadian house" does that mean the side closest to the parking lot or the side closest to the river?

I submitted a question about the butterfly garden & here is the response posted in the newsletter:

Q. Hi. I just read in your newsletter about the butterfly garden behind the Acadian House at Port Orleans Riverside. I have never seen this mentioned before. Can you tell me more about it? I will be staying here for the first time next month with my two sons and we all are looking forward to our stay! Thank you. (Submitted by J. Corbin)

A. The talented gardeners at Port Orleans Riverside designed the garden behind Acadian House to attract butterflies. This means that they chose plants that produce nectar (that butterflies can drink) and plants with specific foliage (that attract egg-laying butterflies and that caterpillars can eat). The garden also has woody plants for shelter during bad weather and for roosting or sleeping. A water source is also present. The garden is tucked behind the Acadian House to give the butterflies a low-traffic area protected from the wind.

Since you are staying at Port Orleans Riverside, a stroll over to check out this garden could be a nice diversion during your downtime at the resort. I don't think I would try to fit this into my Disney itinerary if I were not staying at Port Orleans Riverside or Port Orleans French Quarter, but it is one of the special touches that Disney adds to its resorts; one of those little-known secrets that make a visit special. Have a wonderful vacation!

How cool!!!!

Quick question about the POR pools -
How are the pool bottoms? I know some pools have rough bottoms that tend to scratch up little feet, toes, knees, etc.
Will I need to bring water shoes for the little guys, or will they be okay barefoot in the pools?

I've been racking my brains trying to remember. If memory serves (and that's a big if) the bottom was smooth. I went with DD4 and DD8 at the time and there were certainly no complaints of a rough bottom. No one wore (or wanted) water shoes. :surfweb:

Subbing!

We are thinking of going to the POR for our next trip in a couple of years. It may take me a while to read through this thread! Thank you for all your advice-I am looking forward to learning about this resort. We are staying at the Pop in sept and plan on visiting a mod or two while there to help make decisions for the next trip.

Have a great day everyone!:goodvibes

My trip's about a month away now and I can't wait!

Thanks for the posting on the butterflies, I'll definitely try and get to that garden as I wander around the property :)

I am so psyched and want to leave now! lol

Hi we will be at POR in 12 days! I was wondering if you might have some suggestions as to what building I should request??? It will be dh, myself, DD6 and DS 17 mos. Our dd has seizures and since I will be alone with the kids a couple of mornings we would like to be as close to a bus stop and the food court area as possible. Should we ask for something in AB or the mansions?
Thanks! We are so excited, it really won't matter where our room is! LOL

Dos anyone have pictures of the current refillable mugs and the price. If no pictures, can you describe them please?

Can anyone tell me if the trundle beds in some of the AB rooms are free, or do you have to rent them? Thanks.

The closest building to bus stop and food court is 14 in AB followed by 15 and 18, also in AB. If you explain the reason for your request (i.e. medical), the likelyhood of your getting one of those buildings is increased. See the POR resort map here: http://www.wdwinfo.com/resortmaps/port-riverside.htm :surfweb:

Hi! I hope I did this right, it's my first post to this board. I'm trying to decide between Port Orleans Riverside (building 14) and Pop Century. It's only $160 more to stay at Port Orleans for our trip, but I've read a ton of posts of people complaining about long waits at the bus stops there. We're going the second to last week in September. Any comments from people who have stayed at both resorts? Thanks!!!
