The boats are open, but they don't move all that fast -- I don't think you would need any more protection than you would just walking around. We were there in January, and we didn't have any issues. We went at night, and just wore pants and a light jacket or long sleeved shirt.

We got back Tuesday night and we loved POR! We were in AB--building 28. Just a standard view room--but the view was so neat--a little creek and lush landscaping everywhere. My husband thought I had sneaked and upgraded us to deluxe it was so nice!
Ooooh giving away TR stuff :rolleyes1 :rotfl2:

I'm beginning to think more about an AB room rather than Mansions, any opinions? :)

We have never stayed in the mansions but I have to tell you I love the AB section. Its like staying in a cabin, I like that sort of thing :)

We are also going in March (5-14) and staying at POR for the first time. We have stayed at Pop several times as well and we really like it. We just wanted something a little different since this is our 25th anniversary trip and we won't have any kids with us. The pictures look beautiful and we can't wait! We have requested the mansions--hopefully, we will get a location that is close to most things. One of the reasons we liked Pop so much was because everything was so close. Your questions were the same things I was wondering! Keep the info coming!:goodvibes

We stayed in AB last month and LOVED it. I have never stayed in the mansion but I doubt I ever will because I loved AB a lot. Rustic and peaceful.

SplashMom... We're going March 10 -14 and doing the Pirate and Princess party on the 11th. Which night are y'all going? We've stayed at Pop Century in March in 2004, 2006, and 2007. I wonder if we were there at the same time? Too funny that we're upgrading this year to POR, too.

I hope y'all have a great trip! Happy Anniversary!

Thanks everyone for answering my questions. I know we are going to have a great time. I love the sound of POR and I think it's going to be a wonderful vacation. The boat ride to DtD sounds great!

I'll have to keep my eye on this thread. My friends & I are staying POFR (I'm assuming that's Port Orleans French Quarter, if I read the abbreviation correctly) ;)

We stayed at POR for our 10th anniversary. The resort was perfect. We requested the mansion area. Very happy with a view of the gardens in the Magnolia Terrace building. The building was very close to a bus stop and also close to a bridge that went over to Old Man Island. Made a short trip to the food court. DH went over every night for hot chocolate after we returned from the parks. We received a signed card from Prince Charming and Cinderella for our anniversary. Was a great stay. We took our kids the next year for Christmas. They fell in love with the place too. Hope you have a great trip.

Awesome pics! Thanks so much for sharing those. It really helped to see those different shots. It's such a beautiful place!

Thanks again.

What great pictures! Thank you so much for sharing them. Now I'm thinking I should get an extra memory stick - looks like there are many beautiful things to photograph around the resort! :thumbsup2

We will be staying at POR in December and will be taking the boat to DTD.
Where does the boat dock in DTD?

The boat docks near Capn' Jacks, you will also walk by the Rainforest Cafe when you exit. You can take another boat to Pleasure Island at the same dock, or just walk over.

Just spent last night and today ready all 112 pages. :scared1:

DW and I will be going May 13 - 20. I was originally convinced we wanted Magnolia Bend and a mansion room but now it's AB all the way. Hopefully building 27.

Hopefully a code is waiting for me when I call to book. Thanks to all for the great photos and all the tips.

I have stayed at POFQ (did not have one complaint) in the past and will be staying at POR for the first time in April.

For those of you that have returned recently..how are the rooms?
I have been reading such mixed reviews on cleanliness, worn out rooms, etc.
I realize most peple tend to post a hotel review only if they had a negatvie experience..but I trust the people on this board more than hotel review websites.

Crossing my fingers for a AB room :thumbsup2 . My TA put the request on our reservation, but I know that may not mean much :confused3 .

Thanks!

Just checking back in with the thread!

After staying at Port Orleans the last THREE visits to WDW....I am sad that we won't be back to PO or WDW this summer!

Two visits to POFQ and one to POR....three of the best visits we have had! Always a relaxed setting with 'deluxe' views and more ...at a great price!

Off topic....we used the same photo for our icon....haha.
If you by some chance took the photo and don't want me to use it, let me know. It's just a photo I found while googling epcot stuff a million years ago.

Nope, not mine! I always also randomly google Epcot and save the pictures to my computer.....

Funny and cool though, it's a great picture!:thumbsup2
