I have stayed at POFQ (did not have one complaint) in the past and will be staying at POR for the first time in April.

For those of you that have returned recently..how are the rooms?
I have been reading such mixed reviews on cleanliness, worn out rooms, etc.
I realize most peple tend to post a hotel review only if they had a negatvie experience..but I trust the people on this board more than hotel review websites.

Crossing my fingers for a AB room :thumbsup2 . My TA put the request on our reservation, but I know that may not mean much :confused3 .

Thanks!

We stayed there at the end of September begining of october 2007 and we had absolutely no complaints. We stayed in Acadian House (part of the mansions) and the rooms were clean and not worn out at all. The resort was luch and beautiful and just the relaxing atmosphere we needed after a long day at the parks. We will be staying there again at the end of april and we can't wait! :yay: Hope this helps!

We stayed in Parterre Place in October, and we had no complaints at all. I thought that it was just beautiful, and the room very clean.

We stayed in AB (bldg 25) and our room was spotless the entire time we were there.

When we checked in, the tub/toilet/sinks were spotless, the carpet was clean and the room was fresh smelling. :thumbsup2

We were in Magnolia Bend for marathon weekend in January. We found the rooms to be very clean, and even had a little incident w/housekeeping. We came back to our room in the early afternoon and forgot to put the do not disturb on the door, but the room had already been serviced, we thought. Just at a very inconvenient moment, the housekeeper banged on the door. DH told her we were all set, but she just kept yelling through the door. He finally got tired of being polite and told her to go away. To which she replied, "I'll be baaack". It was surreal.

Anyway, we called once for extra towels and cream, and they brought 20 towels and cream sets. I guess they want to make sure you have much more than you need!

this thread is THIS close to making me book a weekend trip to POFQ or POR in a few weeks just to get away from this cold, cold winter!!!

I'm telling you, I'm about ready to break out the Disney Visa card! Someone please come take it away from me and cut it up already before I do something drastic! :scared:

We were at POR in building 35, January 24th-30th. The room was pretty clean for us. (However, there was some mold on the shower curtain, but that didn't bother us.) A couple of our pillows smelled a bit like sunscreen so I asked for new pillows and they brought them very quick. We kept our "do not disturb" sign on the whole time. But a couple times during the trip they left a bag with new towels, cups, coffee, soaps, etc. on our door...so that was nice.

We just got back last Tuesday. Our room was very clean--and I was worried as we have severe allergies and asthma. I had asked for a "no fragrance/no harsh chemical" cleanings and apparently they did just that. I smelled nothing!
We usually always stay at Hiltons so I have that kind of expectations and they were met here! (actually better, cause we got a cute llama...:goodvibes

i know i am all over this thread, but I can't help but rave about this hotel. there is only one complaint we had the entire 9 days was the case that the fridge is stored in had a broken off hinge. we called the first day, dh was afraid we would get billed if they found it broken after we left. i called, they put it back together within the hour, when the repair guy got to the room within 30 mins, he said they put in the request as a level one high priority fix. i gigged and said it wasn't the door to the fridge, just the wooden furniture that it was inside. my favorite part of being there, was having to worry about absolutly nothing! we got towel animals almost every day, the kids loved rushing back to see what we got. on the 2 days we didn't get one
(both days of the weekend) their stuffed animals were set us soo cute.

DH & I stayed in POR-AB in December, and just loved it. The room was always clean with fresh towels and soaps when we got back to the room every evening. I have lots of friends who love POFQ but I really like the rustic, woodsy setting of POR-AB. We didn't get the building that I requested (based on other reviews) but got bldg 16 which was really great. Off the "beaten path" but just close enough to the restaurant and bus stop, and most importantly, the gift shop. I almost spent all of my souvenir money there.

Will be staying at Pop Century in Dec. (such a long time :sad2: ). I know it gets great reviews but I will miss POR-AB. (unless Disney Visa sends out a really good Dec. code).

Luna, I am with you, so much in fact, that I DID use the Disney Visa and made my reservations!!! I have so had it with this #$$%%% weather!!!!! Right now it is 1above zero!!!!!:scared1:

Hi Disney pals. I'm new to the boards. I've been reading about POR. Myself, hubby and two boys ages 6 and 4 will be taking our first Disney trip on 5/21 to 5/26. Have had 2 prior Disney trips before kids. Stayed off-site. This is the first trip staying on WD property. Looking forward to staying at the POR. Looks beautiful. Hope to be in the AB section. Have asked TA to request either bldgs 18 or 14. Keeping my fingers crossed. I think I'm more excited than my children to be going.

Can anyone answer this for me? I know there is no bus service between the resorts from POR. Which is the quickest way to get to the Polynesian and Contemporary from POR for dinner reservations. Should we take the bus to Epcot or Magic Kingdom and then monorail to the resorts. Or is it quicker to just take the bus the entire way. Any help would be appreciated.

The quickest way is to go to DTD and get on the Resort bus that you need.
You can either go to DTD on the Boat Shuttle (about 15 mins.) or bus which stops at one of the water parks (forgot how long that took).
We did that several times on our last trip and it worked out great.
I would give yourself enough time to arrive earlier than your ADRs.
We waited to get on the CONtemorary bus for about 30 mins and then it is around another 20s mins. to drive there.
I forgot we were already in DTD for shopping so this may not be the fastest way.

:welcome: to the DIS HIHOmom, personally I would catch a bus to MK. it's then a short monorail or boat ride to either the CR or Poly, there is also a walking path to CR from MK if you're up for it :thumbsup2

TEMinnie, love the Llama :rotfl:

oh how I wish that I could!! It was 7 degrees here last night! Why, why do I live in such a cold place?!? :confused3 Have a great time on your trip! Are you going alone? and how long are you staying for? btw, we are less than 2 hours from each other.. I'm up here in Syracuse!

Does anyone know if there are coffee pots or hairdryers in AB? We are going with another family as a grand gathering and have requested connecting rooms (I know no guarantee). We will have our own cars, so would prefer to be in a building near a parking lot also near the food court/swim area. What building would you suggest?

You will absolutely love POR. My DDnow 5 still asks when we will go back to Port Orleans Riverside. They had such a great time there. The one thing I wanted to mention is that I requested a building in Alligator bayou and I ended up being placed in Acadian House in the mansions and on the third floor no less! I remember feeling so disappointed and frustrated but in the end we absolutely loved our location. So what I am saying is keep an open mind and rest assured that there is no bad place to be.

Have fun!
