does POR have any "preferred" buildings? are there any buildings that have closer/easier access to the main bldg (food court) and main pool? i know that bus stops are scattered throughout but we'd like to be as close as possible to the main bldg and are willing to pay for it if necessary (mom is elderly and can walk, but not far distances)... i also realize that it's "just a request!" tia!

There are some buildings that are closer than others, but POR doesn't have preferred location booking (yet).

and which buildings would those be? we'll be checking in early on a monday, so i am hoping that we'll have some options and get our request granted, i just don't know what to request! LOL!

I have an old map. If they haven't changed the building numbers, then #14, 15 or 18 in Alligator Bayou, and certain areas of Oak Manor or Parterre Place.

We really enjoyed the food court last year, I hope they did not change it to much! My son keeps on telling me that he wants the large taco bowl like last year, and I think its gone!

If you don't mind a walk to the POFQ food court, you'll definitely find the taco bowl. We returned from there on Saturday and my DH had the taco bowl just last week. :)

The CM will tell you which rooms are available when you are checking in. The Cm will have a map of the resort and you can decide at that point which will be best for you. I We stayed in AB 38. It was still a walk tot he pool and the food court and i think no matter where you are there will still be a bit of a walk. AB does not have elevators so if you choose AB, ask for a first floor if anyone in your party has a hard time with stairs.

Does anyone know what order the buses usually go? Do they go South-West-North-East? I never really paid attention when I stayed at POFQ last year where the bus stopped at POR.

Thanks!

Our stay was the front or South, West, North, East.

During our May 2007 trip, the buses went S-W-N-E when coming from the parks...however, when coming from DTD they ran backwards...not sure why.

Just returned and for morning pickups it was almost always POFQ, W, N, E, S.

In the afternoons it was usually POFQ, S, W, N, E.

Dropoffs were always POFQ (if before 3pm), S, W, N, E.

We never encountered a 'next bus' scenario all Memorial Day week. Alot of return trips were certainly StandingRoomOnly, but you could get onto the bus if you made it to the line.

Hi There...I am sure this has been asked before but this thread is quite long. I am planning a trip to WDW with my mother and my daughter and we are staying at POR for the 1st time.

My mom has some trouble walking due to bad knees and so I thought it would be best to be close to the bus stops and the food court, if possible. We also prefer to be in one of the mansion rooms. Can any of you help with what kind of room request to ask for? Which mansion? Thanks!!!!!! :goodvibes

Just booked POR for a get away for my wife and I Sept 26- Oct 3/07. Our first trip away by our selves after 20 yrs of marriage (yup we didn't have a honeymoon either)

We were in the Acadian House building #80 it is not a long walk to the North Depot at all, and a short 3 minute walk to the foodcourt....however, I think that Magnolia Terrace might be closer to the foodcourt and it has a Bus Depot right in front of it....here is a resort map for you to refer to http://www.solarius.com/dvp/wdw/riverside.htm hope this helps.

When I stayed there I was in Oak Manor, and I thought that was a good location. It wasn't very far to the main building, which has the food court and a bus stop. We almost always used that stop.

I would note your mother's mobility problem on your reservation and then tell the CM at check-in. That might help you get something closer.

Have fun! I loved POR! :goodvibes

just got back from riverside few weeks back (may15-22). It was my first trip to riverside - i chose it mostly because of reviews from here. Awesome experience - loved the resort. Last time i stayed at allstar - definitely worth the extra money to switch to moderate. I stayed at building 95 - got most of my room preferences. Loved the boat ride to downtown, walk along the resort, surely bike. Will go back again.
