We're back from my happy place :( We stayed in room 2557 (AB side, second floor, near the West Depot and a quiet pool). That building has no parking lot views and our room was NOT on the side of the "quiet" pool. So while we got the enjoy the close proximity of the pool, we didn't have to worry about the noise. Perfect.

The food court was great. We tried the pasta station - amazing. The broccoli tasted a bit off both times I had it, but everything else was fresh and tasty. Great portions. Breakfast was delish also. With breakfast on the DDP, adult meals get 2 full sized drinks, btw.

Buses were ok. Usually it wasn't bad, but a couple times, it was pretty awful. The worst was one night after MK EMH, which is to be expected, but it seemed like there were 2 buses for every other resort before there was one for PO. Standing room only that night! The other time it was rough was one night at DTD. Other than that, I can't really complain. Catching the bus from the west depot was never a problem and we never had to wait long for any bus from there.

We saw many duck families with babies, large herons, etc.

The love bugs were pretty brutal when we were there, but nothing compared to some of the pics I've seen on here. DS4 was totally freaked about them, but by day 7 or so he had learned to co-exist with them LOL

Mousekeeping was fine. Nothing special but the room was cleaned well each day. We were a little sad to have no towel animals the whole 12 nights when a room a couple doors down had several different kinds displayed in their window on the AC unit throughout the stay, but it didn't ruin our stay LOL

Two of the pressed penny machines were down in the POR lobby. Of course, they were the coolest ones LOL

Honestly we enjoyed our stay VERY VERY much and after really thinking hard, that is the worst I could come up with LOL We love POR!

The boat ride to/from DTD was nice and relaxing, as usual. We had a funny driver once, which made things interesting. The other time, our driver didn't say a word :confused3 I remember a driver from 2005 who was wonderful - a great tour guide. Didn't see him this time.

We just got back from a week at POR, too, and really enjoyed the resort. We checked in really early the morning of 6/3, straight from the airport. They didn't have a room for us yet, but could tell us that it would be in Building 14 of AB. Score! We ended up in 1449...a corner room with a river view, which was a surprise upgrade for us. The room was very quiet. We were happy to see that the AC unit was the older kind with the knobs that would stay on all the time. We talked to some other families through the week at other resorts who had the kind with the motion sensors, and they were not happy. (One family at another mod had tied a washcloth on a string to the ceiling fan blades to keep the AC on...so we were happy that POR didn't have that issue.)

The food court was good, overall...liked the fresh pasta for lunch or dinner and loved the fresh yogurt and fruit parfaits for breakfast. DD did not care for Disney pizza overall, and we wished there was a better variety for kids. She would have loved a kid's pasta serving, but she shared ours, anyway. Coffee was just as bad as everyone had warned, so I bought a latte from the bakery one morning. It was tiny but tasty.

We were surprised that the room felt as spacious as it did. We unpacked right away and got the suitcases out of the way, which helped. there was lots of storage space for toiletries in the sink area on the shelves, which worked well for us. We never felt like we were on top of each other, but there were only three of us.

DD took a couple of days to get used to the trundle (according to her, but she never seemed to have any problems sleeping!). It is pretty close to the air conditioner, so she needed extra blankets to keep warm. Make sure you put your child's head at the end away from the AC. Also, I recommend rolling up extra towels for "bumpers" around the corners of the trundle closest to the room...the metal frame is definitely a toe-stubbing hazard (learned the hard way!). Otherwise, it worked great!

We tipped Mousekeeping every day and never had a problem. No towel animals, but DD's stuffed animals were always lined up at the window to greet us.

We totally enjoyed the pool, the carriage ride, the arcade and the grounds in general. DD loved watching the ducks, herons and lizards. Everyone at check in and the concierge desk was great. They gave us 1st Visit badges at check in, which got us a lot of fun comments from CM's in the parks.

The only problem with the buses was Wednesday night after Wishes -- it was pouring buckets and the buses could barely keep up with everyone trying to leave the minute the fireworks were done. I think it was mostly a problem, though, because we were all soaked and freezing. They did pick up and drop off at the main entrance first (is that South Depot?).

Next time we visit, we would definitely consider POR.

My family and I stayed at POR in Alligator Bayou in August 2004, and although I didn't remember to take photos of the room, I distinctly remember bright red theming. But in all I photos I can find of the Alligator Bayou rooms online, they're blue or green! Did they renovate since 2004, or is there different decor in some of the rooms, or what?

Hi There...I am sure this has been asked before but this thread is quite long. I am planning a trip to WDW with my mother and my daughter and we are staying at POR for the 1st time.

My mom has some trouble walking due to bad knees and so I thought it would be best to be close to the bus stops and the food court, if possible. We also prefer to be in one of the mansion rooms. Can any of you help with what kind of room request to ask for? Which mansion? Thanks!!!!!! :goodvibes

Hey there! My mom and I did a Mother / Daughter trip over Memorial Day weekend and my mom has bad knees and she had broken her ankle 2 times in the past year so I had a similar concern. We stayed in building 95 (Parterre Place) and it was awesome! We were so close to the main building and the buses that Mom had no problems at all!

Enjoy!

They did an extensive renovation just after your stay that was just about complete by our first stay in July 2005. They also just renovated the food court this past spring. HTH!

When I stayed there I was in Oak Manor, and I thought that was a good location. It wasn't very far to the main building, which has the food court and a bus stop. We almost always used that stop.

I would note your mother's mobility problem on your reservation and then tell the CM at check-in. That might help you get something closer.

Have fun! I loved POR! :goodvibes

Thanks Sk8Leigh! I took your advice and added my mom's mobility issues to our reservation!! Thank you!

Thanks for all the info DisneyFan719!!! I am glad to hear that your mom didn't have any problems!! Ohh I can not wait for this trip!

I am at work right now and have not had time to read through the whole thread so I wanted to ask a question.

I'm sure POR has a laundry room, does anyone know if there is more than than one laundry room??

As far as I can remember there is one located at the quiet pools.

I'm sorry if this has been asked before, but I didn't read through the entire thread.

Are the rooms with the trundle beds guaranteed or are they by request?

I think if there is 5 in the party then you get a trundle bed room if not it's if they have any spare that you would get one.

I Asked this as a separate thread but I thought it might get a better answer here:

Are the trundle beds made when you get there or will I have to make it up when I get there?? We will be arrive close to midnight and I just wanted to be prepared.

Also do those beds come with a sheet set, pillow AND a blanket or should I bring a blanket for it??

Thanks!!!
Kimba

Good question! We will be arriving past midnight so I'm wondering too. I am sure you don't need to bring a blanket as these can be requested if there isn't one.

We stayed in AB38 in MAy. We had a room with a trundle. We never asked for it and we were only a party of 4. I never checked to see if it was made up or not, but i would assume so.

The trundle bed will have a bottom sheet over the mattress. There will be a top sheet, pillow with a case, and a pink velour blanket for you to make the rest of the bed. HTH!

Hello, Is there a website that center around Port Orleans? I know Buzz has one for Coronado Springs and I have seen another for POP.

DH and I are considering staying at either Riverside or FQ in January.

Thanks!

Hi everyone,

I just got a quote from dreams unlimited and the quoted a room at POR and I just don't know much about it. We (dh, me ds11, ds14) are value resort people. I have tried to read thru this thread and there is so much.

I guess I need to know the basics, the readers digest version of this hotel.

Oh she booked us here because they still had free dining rooms.

Please Help
Deanna :bored: :cat:
