There is a paved trail that runs along the river from the two resorts that is about 1/2 mile. Very casual walk, and if you do it early in the AM you will see little rabbits along the trail. The boat ride between the two resorts is about 5 min. long and the boats leave about every 15-20 mins. These are by far IMO the best two mods on Disney due to the water taxi to DTD. My preference in POFQ due to it being the closest to DTD by water and the small size. We stayed at POR twice in '06 and loved it so we stayed at POFQ this FEB. and literrally were a 2 min. walk from our room to both the front lobby and the same distance to the boat launch on the river. You can't beat that.:thumbsup2 :teacher:

Thank you so much. We might try the walk once or twice but I'm not sure if the little one's will be able to handle it. Especially if it is too hot. It sounds like the boat is our best option.

:welcome: to the DIS HIHOmom, personally I would catch a bus to MK. it's then a short monorail or boat ride to either the CR or Poly, there is also a walking path to CR from MK if you're up for it :thumbsup2

TEMinnie, love the Llama :rotfl:

I appreciate the welcome and apologize for not replying to you sooner. Still making my way around these boards trying to figure things out. I figured your route of taking bus to MK, then monorail was the best. Just wasn't sure if we should bus to Epcot since it was closer to POR, then monorail. Or if taking the bus most of the way was best. We'll opt for your suggestion. Thanks again.:thumbsup2

It really is a 5 minute walk -- it is conceivable you might have a longer walk from your room to the main pool or the food court. I'm not telling you not to take the boat, but if you want to get there quicker, walking is the way to go.

Does anyone know if I'll be able to push one of the beds up against the wall at POFQ? My 2yo will be sleeping with his big sis and I'm afraid he'll climb over a regular railing in his sleep :scared1: Thanks :goodvibes

I don't know that it's the quickest way but my vote would be to ride the ferry from POR to DTD then take the bus to the other resorts. It may be quicker to do the monorail thing but the boatride to DTD is really nice. Also, as far as the bus from POR to MK or Epcot, sometimes the ride is quick and others not. Just depends on how many other stops the bus makes along the way since it's shared with Magnolia Bend and POFQ. The MK bus is usually the most crowded and several times DH and I opted to wait for another bus to come along.

Take a cab. 10$ tops. Get there in 5 minutes.:thumbsup2

We had a dinner reservation at Coral Reef at Epcot and it took us 45 min. just to get to EPCOT. I would call and reserve a cab to take you and have them at the resort at least 45 min. before your reservation. It will take you 5-10 min. to get there and maybe 10 bucks.

Does anyone know how long it takes to walk over to the French Quarter. Is it too long of a walk for our sons, ages 7 and 5? We are going in May with friends who booked their reservation before us at POFQ. After comparing Riverside with French Quarter, we decided we wanted to stay at POR....looks too beautiful. I know there is a ferry that runs between the two. How often do they run and how long is the ride? Thanks so much. I sooooo can't wait to go!

This is just something my 5 year old did last week, he counted the steps from the lobby of FQ to POR building 14 going thru the food court. 1,093 steps. Sounds worse than it is ,it's such a beautiful walk .

Hello all!
I and the DH will be at POR the second week in Sept. I'd like to know more about the carriage ride. There's not much info. on the WDW site. What does it cost, how long is the ride, do you make reservations for it??? Give me some feed back, please. And in advance, THANKS! :upsidedow

Hello , We just took this ride last week. It's $30 plus tip,it is 30 min. We had our DS 7yrs. & our DD 5 yrs. they both loved it as did we. The trip before we didn't have reservations and the were booked the week and a half.So I would recommend calling ahead. Our ride was at 6:30, the timing was perfect it was just getting dark for the romance part and light enough to see everything.

When we stayed at POR we could have pushed one bed against the wall, not sure about POFQ though :confused3

It took you 45 mins to get to Epcot from POR??

When we rode the bus, it took us less than 15 mins. :confused3

Thanks for the info.
If I buy water bottles at the parks and save them...
could I refill them with water at the drink area at riverside mill? Then I could just put them in the fridge in our room (if we have one. not sure if all the rooms do or not.)

POR Gift shop (has a grocery store section)
which sells Bottled Water there is a
smaller bottle (think either 16oz. or 20 oz)
and there is a larger bottle
(can't remember size but it might be a 1 litter)
We purchase a few 1 litters for the room and
got the rest of our water with
DP with CS Breakfast (comes with an extra bottle of water)
or for our snack credit.

I'm assuming the grocery store has milk? I bet it's expensive? Does anyone know? We'd like to wing-it for breakfast. Want to get to the parks asap in the morning. We'll use the DDP for lunch and dinner. We also have a Character breakfast planned at the Crystal Palace on the last day of our trip. My family is big cereal eaters so I plan to pack a box of cereal and maybe some mini-muffins. Has anyone ever done this?

The gift shop does sell milk and I don't recall it being too expensive, then again I'm from NJ and a gallon of milk is around $4.89!!

Thanks. Yeah, I hear ya. It seems like groceries in general lately are more expensive, even in PA.

We did this and thanks to the fridges you can manage to keep a few things in the room. We ordered milk and snack and other breakfast stuff from gardengrocer.com/ They delivered the food to the bell station and they kept it for us until we could pick ut up. They even refridgerated the perishables. Good luck!

Yikes! The cows must be living well in New Jersey. I bought a gallon of milk at Kroger here in Texas yesterday for $3.50. Gas was cheaper at $2.769.

We had someone in a motorized cart that had to get on at our stop at POFQ, that alone took about 5 min. Then we had to go to all of the POR stops, which was about another 15min. and then we headed over to EPCOT which then is 15min. We had to run to Coral Reef and got there 5min. after our reservation time.

for us...it was around 25 minutes, I think

The original question was mine. We actually ended up ordering a case of water from staples.com and having it delivered to our hotel. It worked out really well and was a lot cheaper than buying water in the parks.
