Light up like the Christmas Tree. ;)

For newbies, be aware that MS tends to be extremely busy in January. In the past DVC has even issued a "warning". Seems lots of families get together over the holidays and map out their plans for the coming year. In January, they start calling MS to make plans. Add that to the Christmas/Thanksgiving 11 month dates and the dues payment questions and things gets busy.

I just called myself and had to try several times just to get through to the 800# at all. Be patient....this soon will pass. :)

Thanks so much for the warning for newbies. I wish someone had told us last year. We joined last January, and when I tried to make ressies, MS phones were busy for days! It made me start to wonder "What did we get ourselves into? Is it always like this?" I'm really glad to see this post.

I must have hit redial 30 times this morning - but I got through and got exactly what we needed.

Me, too!

I had to call on December 30--this was a Monday and included the eleven month window for Thanksgiving, the Friday after, and the Saturday after. I felt lucky to get through on the first try and have them pick up right away first thing in the morning--I was trying to book a studio at HH at the 7 month window so I was very concerned.

I hit redail 2 times and got through - waited about 3 minutes then got my ressies for dec and this March no problems - luck was with me today:D

I have to start my day by day for BWV standard tomorrow for 12/6 to 12/12.

I have been trying MS all day (not consistently but sporadically).

No luck so far!!

As a newbie, why not go through the email registration on the member site? I have booked two trips through this method so far, and both have come out great.

Nink, I just emailed MS. I am looking for a cash ressie however so by the time they get my email, if there are any member discounts, the discounts could be gone!!!

Add me to the list of those pushing the redial button this morning. After I got through, I only had to wait just a few minutes to speak to a person. Tomorrow, my reservation will be complete, so hopefully I won't have to worry any more. I started to get a little paranoid this morning , I even dialed the 1-407 # just to see, and it was busy too.

Wow, I've had to be on the phone with them several times in the last week about various facets of our upcoming trip. I've gotten through without a hitch every time. Crossing my fingers that the trend continues...I've got to call again today!

I called today to make a studio reservation for June and a 1 bedroom reservation for November and got the busy signal for a while and was so excited when the phone actually rang. The auto attendant said the wait time was 9 minutes and this was at lunch time. I was able to get the rooms I wanted at my resorts of choice but found out from relatives that they want to go in September now instead of November  so I'll be calling again tomorrow!

no wonder why the # was busy when my hubby tried to call.

Glad he got the busy since he needed DCL for his question and not DVC..

This is a rather scary thread for us newbies, as I too, will be calling for my first day of day by day ressies starting tomorrow. Any tips for us? I assume it's the 800 number that's in the member guidebook? And is it then option 3? Just want to make sure I'm ready!

I too booked my first trip home for August today. Hit redial alot, then when I got through waited about ten minutes, then when I started talking GOT CUT OFF! Michelle actually called me back - I was so greatful!

Erika...yes, it's that 800 number in the guide book that you call for reservations.

I called MS last Thursday just to bank some points....got through in 2 minutes tops!

Another message for the newbies....Mondays are the busiest days for MS....avoid calling then unless you have to. Since I was banking points, no need to call on Monday.

When I talked to the MS CM, she warned me that this week would begin the crunch season at MS. She said it would tail off at the end of the month, and then the other crunch season is April/early May (7 month window for December and 11 month window for Spring Break!).

And nink.....I think most call (like me) because they want the immediacy to know their trip has been definitely booked...they don't want to wait a day or two to find out! Also, there is not a clear indication that an e-mail is treated with the same "first come, first serve" mentality as the phone calls.

Granny, that's exactly my concern. If I knew for sure they looked at them early in the day, I'd use it more often.

Whew, you guys had this newbie getting worried, but I got through immediately, had the first night of my reservation (my first ever!!!) and was off the phone by 5 minutes after!!!!!!!! Yay!

Called right at 9:00am and got right through, got a great cm (Garth) and got my first night at BWV standard for 12/6!
