It's Official...IT'S PALIN

Give me a break.

I am so sick of liberal women spewing their rhetoric as if they speak for us all. You do not speak for me. I am a woman and today Sarah Palin made me feel proud to be a woman, a Republican, a conservative, and an American. Her views mirror mine almost exactly.

I'd hardly call that "my enemy." Speak for yourself. Let the rest of us speak for ourselves.

Good for you, I would never speak for any other woman but myself. Now you know how my son and I felt after hearing Barack speak. We all have something to relate to.

Awesome choice, and I like her.

The hypocracy extends to experience as well, she has as much experience as Obama.

Hillary is not the VP candidate, big difference.

You're right. Palin is not needed to win the election for McCain (although it won't hurt). Hillary was the only thing that Obama had to even try and give him a chance. Do you really think Hillary would have spoken if Obama didn't need her? No way. He can't stand her, and she can't stand him. But he used her anyways - now that's fake.

I personally would be uncomfortable leaving my young children much of the time for work reasons, whether it be as a business traveler or as VP of the US.

I wanted Hillary to break the glass ceiling, very strongly, but I was glad that she had a GROWN child that she didn't have to raise anymore.

That's all I meant.

Obama has young children as well......he doesn't have to raise them?

How creepy was it that McCain stood at her elbow during her speech? How fake were those hugs they gave each other? Like air kisses, air hugs.

How is a man who can barely lift his arms higher than the 2nd button on his suitcoat supposed to hug someone?

This is so sad but true.

My girlfriend adopted five non white children....and she and her husband are white. She was a foster parent first and fell in love with these girls.

I called about the possibility of adopting a child with an adoption agency that deals primarily with minority children. They practically THREW children at me. That was several years ago and I found out I had health issues so I dropped the inquiry.

I was amazed at how many children were "available". I remember asking about it on the DIS and got flamed like wildfire. People were going to China, Russian, everywhere to get children while there were so many here wanting parents... :sad1:

It was such a bad day at that office when that "father" called. The white birth mother had lied about the birth father--she'd been raped, poor thing, and for some reason tried to tell us the baby's father was also white. The adoptive couple took the baby to a pediatrician who "dropped the bomb". We quickly got on the phone and called the last couple in our black/biracial program that a baby was available immediately. They jumped on it. The little boy would have just turned 9 this year, and I hope he's doing well.

If DH and I had turned out to be infertile, we'd already agreed we would look into adoption, and not just adopt a white infant. Who knows? Maybe we still will do it in the future. But for those who are pro-life and think adoption is an easy answer to the abortion issue, it isn't. The birth mothers and the children who were adopted can have issues with the situation for years. It's not an easy decision for a woman to come to or deal with, nor is abortion.

Again did someone give a speech yesterday. I think that post is on Page 5 of the community board now. Good Job McCain

This is OT - but I think this is sad. Friends of ours adopted a minority child - he just turned 19. Lots of friends of ours our now adopting foreign (non-minority) children. They all said it was very difficult to adopt a child here in the States. Personally, I don't know if this is true or not. I think part of the problem is our extremely litigious society and worry about what will happen down the road.

Don't feed the trolls.

;)

I don't see how this is a good pick, AT ALL. The Republicans shout "inexperienced" at Obama, but the truth is this woman is not qualified at all for the job. She's only been governor for a year and a half, she's pretty much a newbie at this. Plus, while talking today she seems so unoriginal at speech-making, and she even ripped off Hilary's glass ceiling bit.

It's pretty much a cheap way to get womens' votes, imho.

Me too. And given McCain's age I cannot elect him if I dont feel he has a rock solid VP.

That is just beyond sad. :sad2: Hopefully, their true colors showed early and the child, hopefully, went to the right home.

I just got off the phone with a friend who is a BIG Hillary supporter and she is thinking about coming over to the other side. How exciting! She feels, right now, McCain and Palin can do more to get this country on the right track. YEAH!!!!

Well, it will be pretty awkward at first.... seeing that McCain doesn't know her at all. Do you think he has "Palin" written on his hand? Or do you think his staffers point her out to him? "Over there - that's your VP nominee... go say hello."

My DH said McCain was saying, I picked who? :lmao:

Well, I leave for lunch and this all went into the toilet a lot quicker than I'd have thought... :confused3

But the way I look at, Palin's got more executive experience in government than any of the three guys on both tickets! McCain, Biden, and Obama have only been members of Congress... Palin's actually had to run something!

Ask Jimmy Carter, He thinks that McCain is overplaying the POW thing anyway. Six years or 144 days, no big deal. I think that man has hit himself in the head with the hammer to many times

I think that's a fair question, but I do think McCain's health is pretty good for his age. Cheney's health was a question mark in 2000, but as VP with a healthy running mate, I think most people didn't really care. I just saw my 76-year-old uncle recently and he's looking really good. I think he and McCain will both last another 8 years.

Wait, so Palin can give advice to McCain about how to be president because she is the one with "executive" experience? Isn't your argument negating his experience, putting more weight on her two years as governor over everyone else's years in Washington?

Well I HOPE she would advise her president, what with that being her JOB and all as vice president. She's a sharp, sharp woman. I'm sure he'll listen to her. She has executive experience, he has 3 decades of legislative experience, and they BOTH have experience reaching across the aisle, challenging the status quo, and confronting corruption. It's a dream ticket, and it's a WINNING ticket. I think we just saw this election end today right before our eyes…and I think Obama's people know it. Yay for the hockey mom!!
:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

If it's not a big deal, you go do it.

The trooper she wanted fired was a wife-beater. That's who I want to serve and protect me. I think I'll give her a pass on this one.

So she got to be judge and jury? We have laws and they should be followed, to wrongly fire someone, even for a good reason, is not someone I want in power.

THis wasn't addressed to me but I just want to thank you for saying it.
