It's Official...IT'S PALIN

Oh for pete sake! That comment was actually PRO McCain. I meant it was unnecessary for him to defend the man's inability to raise his arms. Don't look for trouble where there isn't any, but I apologize to YOU if you took it differently.

Sorry. It's a hot-button issue for me. He was broken and battered in service to his country. It left his arms looking funny. I probably do overreact when people comment on it in what I perceive to be glib ways. I see that you weren't doing that.

Dick Cheney has proven that the VP can be a very prominent player in an administration.

Does that same line of thinking go for Obama and his kids?

And if you didn't notice, Hillary was employed full time as an attorney AND was out campaigning with Bill while raising Chelsea. She used a LOT of that experience to her advantage to give her credibility as being more experienced than BO on the campaign trail this time. She was a very active and travelling First Lady while still raising Chelsea. Working moms are a reality. Don't underestimate a woman's ability to work and raise a family at the same time.

I know working moms are a reality. I just expressed concern that as vice president of the United States she won't be around much for her 5 young children. Many working moms aren't around much for their young children, and that also concerns me. That's why there are much more SAHMs than SAHDs.

From what I've read, Chelsea had a tutor and traveled a lot of the time with Hillary.

McCain is running a reactionary campaign. The selection of Palin for VP is a result of Mc Cain having to do something over the top. He needed something to attract attention to an otherwise dull campaign. Even the announcement today was at an Obama-like venue with a large audience unlike the smaller groups McCain prefers.

Maybe Chaney will give her some tips while they go hunting together. :rotfl2:

Seriously though, McCain had cancer twice, is this his idea of someone that could step into the presidency from day two?

He was actually making a joke. Maybe you don't know what a joke is. Palin as a vice-president nominee... that's a joke.

You better check again. He said it twice - the second time he may have been making a joke of it b ecause of the first time, but the first time he said it he was serious.

I think I'm more insulted than anything that instead of finding a Republican woman with decent governmental experience (not 2 years as a Governor), they grabbed the woman with the shortest resume but was a beauty queen, who leaves the door open to Creationism, was back from maternity leave in 3 days, and has no experience with foreign relations that I can determine from her biography.

<sarcasm> But hey, she's a woman!!!1!!! And McCain's a veteran!!!1!! That's the ticket! :thumbsup2 In addition, she's an Evangelical Protestant and believes so strongly that abortion is WRONG that she chose to give birth to a child. THAT's proof for ya that she doesn't agree with abortion! No man can compete with that resume! </sarcasm>

Very frustrating. If this woman was the best the Republican Party could find... wow. I really hope she is the ever-living BOMB in the VP debates.

How much time did Obama take off when his children were born?

This is great. :thumbsup2
I haven't enjoyed watching politics this much...well, ever.

No matter how you feel about McCain / Palin, Obama / Biden, you've got to admit, this is about as interesting as it gets (unless Hillary had made a last minute attempt to grab the nomination, then it would have been even more interesting).
The next few months are going to be fascinating to watch (in spite of all the mudslinging coming from both sides), and knowing that we'll have something new in the White House just makes it all the more exciting.

Anyway, feel free to continue with the debates, I just wanted to get my two cents worth in there.

And I repeat my former statement, aside from the Supreme Court Justices which have to be APPROVED by Congress. It's all checks and balances.

You said:
Or that the Obama Supporters keep screeching for change, here is CHANGE. Not some down trodden Washington staple. But, someone who has shocked her party and her state back to it's senses. Wow, you all are really for Change, huh?

I told you she is a change in the wrong direction BASED ON MY BELIEFS. What is so hard to understand?

Look, if you think this is a disastrous pick for McCain, why the need to rush to the Internet and start trashing it? Let things implode as you think they will.
Secondly, it's quite normal for a Presidential candidate to select a mate that will enhance the ticket. What good would adding a McCain clone do? Yes, Romney or Pawlenty would have been a "safe" choice like Biden. But if you see what you think is a gem in the making and want to take a risk, then so what?

Because the OS are now scared to death that he is going to lose in November, and they think if they shrilly shriek and shout, and trash Palin longly and loudly enough, that they can telepathically make an implosion happen.;)

How much time did Obama take off when his children were born?

So Obama is the Messiah AND he birthed his own children???

Seriously, you Republicans tell the craziest stories!!! :rotfl:

One statement has nothing to do with the other. I want Roe v. Wade overturned, but I still support abortion. Roe v. Wade is an abomination as a matter of constitional law and interpretation. It was not the proper way to do it.

:thumbsup2
I'm so glad there are people out there who truly understand why Roe v. Wade should be overturned.

Very frustrating. If this woman was the best the Republican Party could find... wow. I really hope she is the ever-living BOMB in the VP debates.

I guess it just matches the best the Dems could find.;)

Everyone needs to give both sides a chance to "duke it out" in the debates. I for one am glad to see a campaign where there is sooo much diversity for a change. Breath of fresh air for once.

Oh, you mean like DawnCT1 and corndog, etc, have been doing for the past few months on this board???

Pot... Kettle.

Here are the Top 10 Arguments Against Palin — FROM OBAMA SUPPORTERS (and presumable democrats) — posted here in case you missed any:
Looks like we got some more to add:

11) McCain just picked her because she's more exciting then him!

12) She only took three days of maternity leave after giving birth! (Heaven help her if they find out she didn't breastfeed!!!!)

Honestly, you have no idea that a refreshing comment that is!!!

Class?? CLASS? Pretty classy to leave your crippled wife for a younger, richer one. Pretty classy to vote with Bush 90% of the time and then claim to not be tied to him.

And running the finances of your home and knowing how many homes you have are two completely different things. That's pretty out of touch with most of America.

As the future president said last night, "It's not that McCain doesn't care. It's that he doesn't get it."

Well, it sure is good to know that BO gets it. He knows us small town folk and how bitter we are and how we cling to our guns and our religion because we ain't got nothin' else to do. And don't forget how he gets the poor - so much so that he really made a difference in their housing conditions when he was funneling money to Tony Rezko who was supposed to clean up the asbestos in the delapidated apartments people had to live in that were LOCATED IN BARKY'S DISTRICT. Oh, and don't forget how he is helping his brother who lives in the little shack in Africa.

Yea, he gets it. HA!

OK, "my friends" (sorry, couldn't resist ;) ). I've read through all 420 postings on this thread. All of 'em. And I can only conclude that McCain's choice of Palin has sent the Obama campaign into a tailspin of epic proportions. There are Democrats on here spouting stuff I haven't heard since the 1950s. Here are the Top 10 Arguments Against Palin — FROM OBAMA SUPPORTERS (and presumable democrats) — posted here in case you missed any:

10) Just because she has a baby with Down's Syndrome, it's no reason to vote for her.

9) She tried to get her wife-beater ex-brother-in-law fired from a law enforcement job.

8) McCain cheated on his first wife. (Don't know where that argument against her came from, but it's there)

7) She got "wind-fall profits" from the oil companies operating in Alaska and passed them on to the citizens of her state (it's oil profit-sharing, and the state has done it since the oil pipelines were created there).

6) She's so stupid she's being used by McCain as — OK, are you ready? — a "token."

5) Her poor husband will have to watch all those kids while she's busy being vice president.

4) A mother's place is in the home.

3) She will take away all the women's rights in America (except, apparently, the right to be the first woman elected vice president).

2) Her state is too small to consider her experience as the governor there as any real experience at all (Biden. Delaware. You do the math).

And the Number 1 reason Obama supporters say Palin is a terrible choice?

1) She's…too…inexperienced! (No, really, they're saying it all over the place, they really are).

Hellooo, President McCain!

Thanks for the update! I can't keep up with this rocket of a thread. Informative stuff there, loco. :thumbsup2

I am for change, but Palin is way too conservative for my liking. Pro-life, and a creationist? That's change in the WRONG direction!

Could you provide a link please regarding here creationist belief? I've seen that referenced a few times but have yet to see any substantiation, and I'd like to read more about that. Thanks.

If you are so comfortable with McCains choice for VP, how do you feel she is qualified?

His first, important decision he had to make as the Rep. nominee was to pick his VP. He did not choose the most experienced, someone who could step in and take over the helm.

His choice was obvious pandering. Because of that I think he is using her to gain the undecided womens vote. But, I believe most people will realize her inexperience, and choose not to be taken in by it.

Don't even bother attempting to make the "inexperienced" argument. Palin is much more experienced than Barky.
