It's Official...IT'S PALIN

Anyone who wants to overturn Roe V. Wade is the enemy of women.

Even if you never would want an abortion, the ability to have it on the discussion board benefits all women whenever they see a doctor.

One statement has nothing to do with the other. I want Roe v. Wade overturned, but I still support abortion. Roe v. Wade is an abomination as a matter of constitional law and interpretation. It was not the proper way to do it.

He put his arms around her, not over her shoulders. My point, badly stated, was there was no genuine warmth between them. When Biden was introduced by Obama you could tell that they liked each other and could work well together. I just didn't get that vibe today.

I was struck by how giddy McCain seemed to be with her. I don't think I've ever seen him that excited (in a happy way).

If he had wrapped his arms around her and given her a big kiss on the lips you would be screaming about that. If he had patted her on the butt as guys are want to do, you would be screaming about that. It's a no win sititation with the gender difference.

Mondale and Ferraro had the same issues back in 84 if you want to go look it up.

He certainly does have a track record of accomplishments. But nice try on your part.

This pick makes McCain look like a hypocrite.

Sure he does. Keep telling yourself that! Let's see if we can name them:

1. Set himself up good with domestic terrorist who believes America is evil.
2. Set himself up good with slum landlord and help him embezzle funds from the government that were intended to improve housing conditions for the poor.
3. Set himself up good with wacky reverend who believes America is evil.
4. Set himself up good with the Arab Action Network (founded by a terrorist sympathizer).
5. Get himself a communist mentor (Frank Marshall).

I could go on and on, but I'm getting a bit sick . . .

Funny how people view things differently.

He looked nervous to me.

OK, "my friends" (sorry, couldn't resist ;) ). I've read through all 420 postings on this thread. All of 'em. And I can only conclude that McCain's choice of Palin has sent the Obama campaign into a tailspin of epic proportions. There are Democrats on here spouting stuff I haven't heard since the 1950s. Here are the Top 10 Arguments Against Palin — FROM OBAMA SUPPORTERS (and presumable democrats) — posted here in case you missed any:

10) Just because she has a baby with Down's Syndrome, it's no reason to vote for her.

9) She tried to get her wife-beater ex-brother-in-law fired from a law enforcement job.

8) McCain cheated on his first wife. (Don't know where that argument against her came from, but it's there)

7) She got "wind-fall profits" from the oil companies operating in Alaska and passed them on to the citizens of her state (it's oil profit-sharing, and the state has done it since the oil pipelines were created there).

6) She's so stupid she's being used by McCain as — OK, are you ready? — a "token."

5) Her poor husband will have to watch all those kids while she's busy being vice president.

4) A mother's place is in the home.

3) She will take away all the women's rights in America (except, apparently, the right to be the first woman elected vice president).

2) Her state is too small to consider her experience as the governor there as any real experience at all (Biden. Delaware. You do the math).

And the Number 1 reason Obama supporters say Palin is a terrible choice?

1) She's…too…inexperienced! (No, really, they're saying it all over the place, they really are).

Hellooo, President McCain!

Or that the Obama Supporters keep screeching for change, here is CHANGE. Not some down trodden Washington staple. But, someone who has shocked her party and her state back to it's senses. Wow, you all are really for Change, huh?:confused3

I am for change, but Palin is way too conservative for my liking. Pro-life, and a creationist? That's change in the WRONG direction!

Anyone who wants to overturn Roe V. Wade is the enemy of women.

Not only can you not speak for all women, you can't speak for anyone either.

I want Roe V Wade overturned because it is a bad decision based on a "right" which does not exisit in our constitution. It was bad law, by an activist court.

And I can say that and feel completely consistant with my belief that abortion should continue to be legal.

Do you believe for a SECOND that McCain would rather be running with one of his "colleagues"? Or that he needed to run with her because he's just not EXCITING enough?
Look, if you think this is a disastrous pick for McCain, why the need to rush to the Internet and start trashing it? Let things implode as you think they will.

Secondly, it's quite normal for a Presidential candidate to select a mate that will enhance the ticket. What good would adding a McCain clone do? Yes, Romney or Pawlenty would have been a "safe" choice like Biden. But if you see what you think is a gem in the making and want to take a risk, then so what?

I didn't mean it to sound like a mother's place is in the home. Every woman has a choice how to raise their family. I just said I feel sorry for the young kids if she wins.

Do you feel sorry for Obama's young kids if HE wins? What a double-standard.

They are both families with two parents. Both parents work.

And where in her role as VP would these come into play? Does she nominate Supreme Court Justices? Will she pass legislation, aside from a deadlock in the Senate? Will she sit on the Board of Ed and make your child learn Intelligent Design?

She is one heart beat away from POTUS.

That's exactly what this is going to end up like, too - Mondale/Ferraro.

I think I'm more insulted than anything that instead of finding a Republican woman with decent governmental experience (not 2 years as a Governor), they grabbed the woman with the shortest resume but was a beauty queen, who leaves the door open to Creationism, was back from maternity leave in 3 days, and has no experience with foreign relations that I can determine from her biography.

<sarcasm> But hey, she's a woman!!!1!!! And McCain's a veteran!!!1!! That's the ticket! :thumbsup2 In addition, she's an Evangelical Protestant and believes so strongly that abortion is WRONG that she chose to give birth to a child. THAT's proof for ya that she doesn't agree with abortion! No man can compete with that resume! </sarcasm>

Very frustrating. If this woman was the best the Republican Party could find... wow. I really hope she is the ever-living BOMB in the VP debates.

She is one heart beat away from POTUS.

And I repeat my former statement, aside from the Supreme Court Justices which have to be APPROVED by Congress. It's all checks and balances.

Biden wasn't a safe choice, he had to balance the inexperience of Obama. Do you think that MO or BO wanted someone who stated that BO did not have experience and should not be President. It's only McCain that is Using People.

The change I'm ready for is a change in direction this country has been going in. McCain's VP pick is about as important to me as his choice of breakfast foods when it comes to the kind of change we the people are expecting.

I think we've proved previously that Cheney doesn't sit on his hands all day long. He's managed to make the VP quite a powerhouse during his terms in office.
