We will be celebrating my kids' birthdays in Disney. Although we can't be there for the actual dates. Can I still get the It's My Birthday Pins at Town Hall or does it have to be the actual date? :confused3

We can't go on the dates because we can't pull them out of school. So we are celebrating during Christmas break. Thanks for any help. ::MickeyMo

:cheer2: :jumping1:

We took the kids (DD5, DS9) there last week as a birthday present (birthdays were a couple weeks ago) and got birthday badges at MK, MGM, and AK. We usually explained that this visit to WDW was their birthday present and that was enough.

Yes I was there for my bday weekend, one day was my actual bday (at AK) the next (of course) not my bday (at MK). I really wanted it for MK though. (Not much happened at AK.) They really don't care at all, and I mean that in a good way....just ask for a birthday button, they don't card you or anything. I started to explain "yesterday was my birthday, but..." and the real nice CM just handed me the button and said "have a good time." There aren't any special cuts in line or discounts so I don't think they feel obliged to monitor this. I did feel a little weird like everytime someone said "Happy Birthday!" I wanted to blurt back..."it really was yesterday..." But it was neat. The garbage can in Tomorrowland stalked me down signing happy birthday real loud and asking "So...how old ARE you??" Unfortunatley, the rest of my party, with no hesitation, revealed it to him and thereby the trash can did too to the rest of the world in and around Ray's Starlight that day. :earsgirl: Gotta love it.

Our son loved that! We were there on his birthday. We were also walking along as Mickey was being shuffled between areas. One of the members saw the birthday badge and brought Mickey over to him. Now we have a picture of our son, Mickey and his body guard. LOL
He wasn't sure about wearing it at first. He warmed up to it when he was getting stickers and stuff.

We are "giving" our dh a suprise trip for her 4th bd. We are going a week before her birthday. I had not considered getting the pin or anything, but the CM on the phone told me to get the pin and listed her birthday on our reservation.

We love celebrating a birthday at WDW. You can get the birthday sticker at guest relations at any park, however if you have a charecter breakfast and tell them it's your birthday, you'll get birthday pin! The advantage is that the sticker lasts a day but the pin, well, forever! (unless you take a regular disney pin and stick the sticker on it;)

I'm going this year to celebrate two birthdays - last year's which I missed by being enroute to Iraq and the upcoming one, that comes just a couple months after our trip to WDW.

We've done birthdays at both WDW and DL and WDW is definitly better at making sure your birthday is celebrated!

In reference to the previous poster: Unless things have changed in the last year, I got a birthday button in Oct 2004--not a sticker...and this was at City Hall, not a character breakfast. (Maybe they ran out of buttons that day? )

I will be there for my birthday...can I get a pin at Epcot anywhere?

Are there any "special benefits for being there on your bday>

You can get PINs not stickers at all the parks at guest services (epcot past the globe on the left ) .
We went the day after DD B-DAY for 3 days and got pins at MK& E ,because of the discusions on here whether right or wrong on days other then the exact day I made little stickers and put yesterday and 10-27 on add.lables cut down with permanent markers in replace of the TODAY.All the CM's thought that was great 1 even chased us down for some FASSPASSES to TT .

My opinion is DISNEY is all about imagination and make believe and if the TRIP is to celebrate your B-Day then it's your B-DAY while your at the WORLD

Benefits in terms of discounts, ride priviliges, getting something, etc.. .I didn't experience any. But many CMs will give you a nice loud HAPPY BIRTHDAY lots of smiles and overall pleasantness. My guide book says "you just won't believe what can happen!" Not sure what that was all about, but perhaps it varies among age of guests and what you do that day. I'm thinking the characters might interact more with a birthday child, or perhaps in a sit-down restaurant they might sing, who knows. I didn't do either of those. It was just neat being there during that day with my family, and seeing many others in line with their button and us wishing each other a happy birthday.

Well my DD12 with her altered pins Got all the Happy birthdays, fastpasses ,extra candy (MNSSHP ) more photo's at VISA,special (in pocket ) pin during a trade, and the embarrasment of being pulled out on mainstreet and sung to during the (MNSSHP )parade.Yes it is nice to be thought special from others then your family and friends .

1. We told the resort that it was a trip for the kids' birthdays. My DS got an autographed card and photo from Mickey, my DD got a photo and signed card from Cinderella delivered to the resort room while we were in the parks.

2. At the Fantasmic dinner, both kids got cards and a birthday cupcakes from the CM/waiter.

3. My DD got a trading pin and a Disney Vacation Club pin from the Vacation Club CM in the hotel.

4. My DD got to sit in the front row at the Pocohantas show at AK and the CM told everyone it was her birthday and let her bang the drum to start the show.

5. Both kids got numerous "Happy Birthday" greetings from CMs all over the parks.

6. At the Perfectly Princess Tea Party, my DD got a place card that said it was her birthday and a special greeting and autograph from Princess Aurora.

i hope i get to see some of this. ill be celibrating my Bday 1 month early next month.

As others have said, they won't card you or your child.

The up-side is that not only will the "birthday" person get many greetings every day that they wear the pin, but some of the freebies mentioned above.

The downside is that the more people 'abuse' the system (from my birthday was yesterday / is tomorrow, to last/next week to last/next month to ::sigh:: next/last year), the less special the birthday pin becomes. (Sort of like from the Incredibles: when everyone has a birthday pin, no one cares). CMs will stop offering the greetings, the goodies and the special recognition when every 12th person has a birthday pin - and remember, roughly 1 in 12 people have a birthday in the current month.

IMHO, when it's done in the Disney spirit - to celebrate on one day a child's birthday that was missed by a few days either way - that one day can be magical. However, when someone wears a pin for days - or keeps the pin and wears it every day of every visit - it steals something from those who are legitimately celebrating a birthday, and is a little sad :confused3 .

Be well!

My trip was a gift from my mom for my 21st birthday that I got to finally take 4 yrs late. I got a pin at Magic Kingdom for my scrapbook. I didn't wear it at all because it wasn't really my birthday but I wanted the pin in honor of. I felt like I would be taking advantage of special attention if I wore it 4 years late.

You can get them anytime. If your b-day is in Jan and you cannot visit until Aug, you can still get the b-day button.

I can not stress this enough. Get a Birthday button and wear it. You will indeed get attention and maybe just maybe if you wish upon a star, you will get some pixie dust. :rotfl2:

I happened to be there for my birthday this year, and got lots of birthday greetings from CM and other guests. I was stopped and had happy birthday sung to me at AK, and was ushered to the front row of seats at Kilimanjaro Safaris, ("Birthday girls ride up front!" they said).
We visited three parks that day and got buttons from each. Lots of fun.

My sister hasn't been for her birthday, and work doesn't grant time off for the time of year that I'd need to go to take her for her birthday, so I'm going to encourage her to celebrate her "Un Birthday" one day of our trip.

I didn't see any other birthday buttons on any other guests while we were there, so somehow I don't think the "abuse" is rampant.
