It's home!

Congradulations on the new camper, looks great!

WD hitches will always make noise and is normal, there is a lot of tention on those load bars. If you have to make any tight manuvers, remove the WD bars, it will not harm the truck. But in most cases unless your trying to do a tight turn you wont need it. The noise will be there even if you remove the friction sway stabilizer.

A sugguestion for your clearance, rather then going through the pains of removing the rear stabilizer ever time, I would get a bunch of 2x12 boards and lay them lenth wise side by side spanning the driveway. If you start the stack about a foot before the low point it should give you the clearance for the 3-4 feet youll need before the tounge lowers and gives your the clearance back. You could do it with fewer boards, but that means trying to run the length of the 2x12 while manurvering, thats why I suggest spanning the driveway. Just keep the boards at the house and drop them in place as you prepare to back in.

My WDH makes a ton of noise too, we say that our camper is "speaking whale" (like Dora in Nemo?) because it's kind of the same sound. lol. I do find if I pull of the anti-sway (leaving the swing bars for the WDH in place) that it dramatically reduces the noise.

Congrats on your new rig.

When we had a travel trailer the sway control used to make a God awful sound too. I used to spray the connector with Liquid Wrench graphite, and that would help the noise some.

Very nice. Does the Murphy bed come down over the sofa or is the sofa part of the bed?

The sofa bed is hinged between the back and the seat and folds down flat before the Murphy bed comes down over it...the bed is supported over the couch rather than laying on the couch.

It's almost as if 4077 has his own personal FW cabin! Think about it:  - Murphy bed - Bunk beds - Full bath - Full kitchen I'd say he's ready to go. :drive: Bama Ed

So I guess anywhere I go, I am at the Fort?

Thanks for the ideas! I removed the sway control after I got home before driving around the block to get better angle for backing in to driveway, and the noise I was referring to was completely gone. I guess whatever noise comes from a "loaded up" WD system must be almost inaudible compared to the sway bar.

Its a towing trick we use for loading very low cars onto rollbacks. all you need to do is change the angle enough to clear. If the sway was most of the sound you can reduce it with some graphite spray (less messy then grease) or use wax from an uninstalled toilet bowl ring. I use the wax on my hitch ball, its so much better then grease when you accidentally bump into the hitch.

Brought our camper home and realized we couldn't get it up the driveway, oops. There is a sort of "dip" in the driveway that the back end couldn't clear. Soooo my husband built these ramps to get it in and out. They are HEAVY and a PAIN - literally. One fell on my brother's foot.
Used to put the camper back up the driveway after each campout, about once a month in season - but lately, we have been leaving it in our court there in front of our house from April to October.

These photos are circa 2010, so the ramps are a little weathered now and we've gotten a new truck since then.
