It's Here!! We're Leaving for WDW!!! Travel Day!!

You go to school so late into the summer! When do you start school? Our last day is scheduled for May 24 -- barring no more snow days. Our Spring Break is probably shorter than yours though -- just 2 days -- next Thursday & Friday. The boys and I will go visit my parents for a few days and I am planning on doing some shopping then.

Fairy -- I am going through the same type of thing with my DS12 - just on the cusp of puberty here. I am hoping and praying that his newly found moodiness will lessen on vacation -- I know he isn't my "little boy" anymore, but hopefully he'll revert to his more cooperative, childlike state when it's just us. Plus, our days are so jam-packed, he really won't have time to even think about being uncooperative!

Panotchr-- good luck with selling your house. Ready in 6 days, wow, you are superwoman! I know what you mean about husbands going on trips without you -- we return from our vacation on 4/28 and he leaves a week later for 5 days in Miami!

No Disney planning news here. DH and DS12 went camping with scouts this weekend. DS9 and I enjoyed some time digging for garage sale items. Also, the snow is thawing quickly and that means running water everywhere. Our basement remains dry (knock wood), but we are dealing with water in the basement of my brother's lake cabin (we take care of it; they live out of state). I'll go back again tomorrow a.m. and likely there will be standing water that I'll have to shopvac out. Hopefully the 60+ degree temps and some open windows will help to dry it some. We LOVE, LOVE, LOVE having the cabin access in the summer, but the spring can sure be a mess!

Have a good week at school. My 3rd grader's class is working on writing a book -- originally we planned to submit it to the Scholastic Book Writing contest, but now we have decided to take our time and just do it for the children. We missed some school due to snow and it threw us off schedule-wise. We are enjoying the process and that is what counts.

Disney moments today -- actually 2. Does your heart jump when you see the WDW commercial? Mine does. Does your heart jump even when you see Orlando on the national weather map? Mine does.

Okay, probably weird -- but I can't help it! Waaaa!!!!! :<)

WHOA! Why are the posts backwards? What used to be page 5 is now page 1!???!

I'm just getting caught up on my reading tonight after a week away from home for work. My work computer "caught" a couple major viruses and I had the IT guy freaking out all over me so I didn't dare venture to the internet after he had just gotten it cleaned up so needless to say I am really behind.

Glad to hear that your back from your ski trip and had a nice time. I hate driving at night, especially in unfamiliar territory, add in that fog and ice and I would have been an absolute mess! Glad you made it there safely.

Wow - it must be 18 days to go now right? I love disney math and the countdown. You are getting so close now. And packing has started, that always makes a trip seem closer and more real. I am excited for you and can't wait to hear about the whole thing.

TiggerandTink: Glad to have you back! It really stinks to have computer problems...especially when you are addicted to the DIS!

Maddie2: Sounds like a great weekend of sorting and such for the garage sale but the water checking would drive me mad, I imagine!

Panotchr: Wow! You are, as Maddie2 said, a superwoman!! May your house sell quickly and without problems! (It's getting close to St. Patty's Day, so I thought I would sound as if I have some Irish wisdom! hee hee :) )

Well, I have had a busy two days at work. Mondays are always an adjustment...weekends with two kids just isn't the same as weekends without kids...there is always something going on and I just don't have that "down" time anymore. Then add in the fact that I had an observation today and even though I feel in my heart I'm a good teacher, I always get nervous and want to do the best, best, best I can. It went well and now I can say "Whew!"

I only have a couple of minutes...have to figure out a quick dinner for the girls before taking them to a special program at school. Just wanted to stop in, say "hi" , and to say:

only 16 more days!!!!!

I am not a superwoman, just motivated. We live next door to some folks who think it is okay for their children to bully mine. Enough is enough and so, that was completely motivating for us. When the husband in this house is aggravated, then it is BAD.

Speaking of Captain Safety Pants... CSP as he shall be known as... he is in Orlando this week on business. He is in Downtown Disney without me. Now, he likes Disney, but do you know he has not even been in one single, solitary shop yet?!?!?!?!? Me?? I would have already shopped til I dropped. I would have ridden the monorail around and around just to say I did. LOL

He was content to eat at the Olive Garden and chill in his hotel room. Can you even believe that?

He did drive over to Port Orleans Riverside and take pictures for me. We have never stayed there and he was just as curious as I was. He did give it a big thumbs up.

My 4th and 7th graders had their state writing test today. I am so over all these stinking tests. Poor kids fret so much. It is hard for those little people whose moms and dads don't even care.

Maddie: We are having a HUMONGUS GINORMUS....yard sale here in a few weeks. You should see all the stuff in our garage.

Oh yeah, I miscounted our days left in school. Tomorrow we have 54 more, but more importantly.....140 more til Disney :)

Panotchr-- I am sorry to hear that you have such horrible neighbors. I would be motivated if we were in that situation too. You've gotta do what is best for your family and I'm sure your children appreciate what you are doing for them -- and for you all. Good for you.

Good luck with your garage sale! Since you are moving, I'm guessing it's a lot of big stuff? Great time to get rid of stuff you don't want to move to your new home. We are mostly getting rid of little stuff -- clothes, toys, books, household misc. I am amazed at what my boys are wanting to part with -- actually, I am holding back some of what they what to sell. I have big Rubbermaid trunks for each of them for baby things, favorite toys & books, etc. My oldest even said to sell his blankey! NO WAY! (probably wouldn't sell anyway, the edges are frayed :<) ).

We have state standardized testing coming up too. They are scheduled for 4/2-4/20 and we leave 4/18. I have spoken with one teacher and she said testing is really focused on the first two weeks, with the last few days for make-ups, etc. THANK GOODNESS!!! We didn't find out about this until AFTER we booked our vacation. Whew!

We had conferences this evening for our 6th grader. Sure is nice to hear such wonderful comments. We already know he's a great kid, nice to hear others think so too. In Language Arts, they had to write an Alphabiography -- a bio story for each letter of the alphabet. SO fun to read! I already knew most of the stories, but it was interesting to read his viewpoint.

TiggerandTink -- Welcome Home! Away from home for a week? That must be hard -- lots to catch up at home, I'm sure. Thank goodness you have a vacation to look forward to! :<)

Fairy -- Congrats on getting through your observation! I'm sure even the most experienced teachers get a bit unnerved when under the microscope. I have a feeling that you don't have anything at all to worry about. You remind me of my son's 2nd grade teacher (last year). She was his favorite teacher EVER -- and mine too! Your energy and love for the children and your job shines through -- even here!

Have a great week and I'll catch you on the weekend. We are leaving tomorrow after school to visit my parents. The plan is to stay 3 nights -- but we'll see. They are getting older and less patient with kids around -- so we may end up coming home early. I love my parents dearly. It is so hard to start to see the changes of old age. :<(

I made another payment on our trip today! YAY!!

The realtor caravan came through our house this morning and another realtor is showing it tonight.

We graphed Lucky Charms marshmallows today and built a leprechaun trap. Kindergarteners are so much fun!

Happy St. Patrick's Day to everyone :)

I had to send a quick note. You all must be sending good vibes my way. Heard from my realtor tonight that someone that saw the house today is writing us an offer tomorrow. Wow! The house was listed on MONDAY. Let's hope it really happens and we can start on our new house soon.

And the OTHER good news???? Only 138 days til we go to WDW!

Happy St. Patrick's Day everyone. Wear a little green tomorrow :)

Luvin the pre-trip report!!! You are so close to going you all must be so excited! I definetly can't wait to read the actual trip report!! I love all the nicknames you have given to everyone, especially "yes officer" I have a feeling it's going to be interesting! We are taking our trip in June with friends and their 4 kids....it was so nice to hear them say I was really informed on WDW, I should just plan it all out. *evil grin* :rotfl: LOL I know we are going to have a great time.
It was fun to read about all you kindergarten teachers, my kindergarten teacher was my most favorite teacher ever. When I ran into her when I was in my 20's she still remembered me, she recognized me before I recognized her....it made me feel so special still!

Oh and by the way, I think the RV trip down would have made for a far more interesting trip report for us readers :lmao: :rotfl: not necessarily for your sanity but...

Thanks! I'm glad you are enjoying it...we are getting very, very, very excited...only 13 more days to go!!!
Sorry...I just have to put it in those big red letters every time I think of it!!

Maddie2: Isn't it great to hear good things about your children? That's why even if I have something that's not so positive to say (like "you're child has trouble following directions" or "I think your child might end up in prison one day" (Just kidding on that one! lol!...I might think it but would NEVER say it!) to a parent, I sandwich it in between all the good I see in the child. Sounds like you have a keeper in your 6th grader, though!

Well, it almost seems impossible that it's only 13 days away, but it is. I finally downloaded a ticker, even, which is really silly considering that I have no trouble at all knowing how long until we leave! But, it looks pretty down there! AND it confirmed my counting!! Hee Hee!

We still have a lot to do to get ready. We still need to go buy those travel necessities and I desperately need a new swimsuit. I only buy a new one every other year because the trauma of going shopping for one sticks with me for so long. I know, I know...I should embrace my body...it's a wonderful gift from God and if I put a little more effort into it's upkeep it wouldn't be such trauma to shop for a swimsuit. But, anywho...I will go tomorrow.

Princess and Prince are over for a sleepover...they are funny.
Just wanted to check in with everyone and say "hi"...I'll write more tomorrow when I am not chasing little ones around! Boy, it does bring back memories and reaffirms for me that yes, I am DONE having babies! lol

OMG I have never heard it phrased like this before and I love it!!! I know the swimsuit trauma as well, LOL! I have to go shopping for a couple new ones also and I am not looking forward to it!! I haven't bought a new one in about 2 years. :scared: have fun with the kiddos!

OMG this totally sounds like me. I HATE shopping for a swimsuit and I am putting it off as long as I can before our trip. I hate the wearing just as much as the shopping but I am going swimming even if it kills me. :rotfl:

I hope the house offer comes through for you. How exciting.

13 days, I'm jealous. I want to be that close.

Hi everyone! We are back from visiting my parents. It was so good to be there, home is where I live with my DH and children, but Mom and Dad's home is pretty great too. All in all, it was a wonderful time.

Good luck with the swimsuit shopping! Ishkabibble! I am of like mind on that one -- but since I don't wear it very often, it has not gotten worn out and is still in good shape. I don't have to shop for a new one this year! Yeah! Trauma avoided! :<)

Panotchr -- Wow! A possible offer already? That is fabulous! All the energy spent in your whirlwind clean/paint up is paying off!

Fairy -- Is your heart aflutter yet? As our trip grows closer, I know mine will! We leave one month from today!

I'm off to work with my son on his pinewood derby car. The big race is next weekend. DS9 draws the design, DH and DS9 do the wood cutting/sawing/sanding and then I step in to help DS with the painting, stickers, etc. Have any of you ever been involved with a Cub Scout Pinewood Derby? Any words of wisdom? We also have DS12, so we've done this for a few years, but we never seem to do very well. The winners have the dads that own car repair shops and the like. My DH has many fine qualities, but auto expertise is not one of them. ;<)

Have a great Sunday!

Hi, guys! Sitting in the parking lot of an outlet mall...swimsuit purchased...gotta love the swim skirt! I actually got two...one with a skirt to wear at the pool and one to wear to the EPCOT Aqua Seas Tour...I hear we'll be wearing a wet suit and my body does enough to create bulges; don't need a swim skirt bunched up in all that rubber, too! Hee Hee!
We're pretty set now for new trip/spring clothes and I have to say that I LOVE my DH...he is one of the few men I know who absolutely loves to shop...comes from having three sisters, I think!
Well, Lou has changed her mind and does, indeed, want to go into the next store, so I will sign out for now and check back in later!

Okay...I managed to get a Photobucket account and upload the pics there...now to try to get them here...

I thought I would start with some funny ones...there's a running joke in our family that no one can truly look cross-eyed but me...

Here's Chief telling me that he can look cross-eyed:

Here's Boo telling me that she can look cross-eyed:

Please note that they are just looking like they are falling asleep...

Wow! It worked! I can see how this could be adding to my addiction...lol

Now let's see what else I can serve up for you...
Here are Princess Boo and Princess Lou two years ago at Halloween...I didn't make these costumes as I usually do because I just couldn't pass them up when we passed them in BJs.
