"It's Coming and it's BLUE" - A July 2010 TR - COMPLETED!!

Kara!!! You're so sweet and I love having you as a Dis friend. Can't wait for that Girls of the Dis trip.

Ok, before I comment on your update. WHICH WAS AWESOME cause I'm dying to try Ohana on my next trip. I have to show you something.

I was at Value Village today, looking for a pair of yellow pumps to go with my Minnie Mouse costume when I came across this.

SSPX0478.jpg

So my first reaction is, "Is that...omg, it IS!!! I have to show Kara! Should I get it for Kara? Does she already HAVE N'Sync action figures? Maybe I should ask her..." So yes, you were the first to pop in my head!

They were wrapped up like this.
SSPX0477.jpg

I carried them around with me while looking at all the stuff. These dolls were $6. If you want them, I can get them and send them to you. Just a thought.

Those are really nice pictures your dad took! Very paparazzi I gotta say. Especially with your mom's head and Katie's back.

Yeah...your room location is awesome. What a view.

I've still yet to visit the Poly, but I know I WILL be. I already KNOW I'm making an Ohana ADR for my 2013 trip. I should make some dinner...getting hungry from looking at your pictures....oh hey, I have chicken wings I can make! Sweet...

And yes, you must try those bath bombs. I got the one simply labeled "relaxation" and boy....was it wonderful. I also tried one labeled "blue" just to see what it would be like. All it did was turn the water blue....not enough to dye skin thank goodness.

Also, the reason our bus ran out of gas is because it kept getting stuck in snow banks and stuff, so it was using up a LOT of extra gas on that day. There was so much snow, you could barely see the road.

I know what you mean about not being a pool girl, I'm not one either! I think I went in Stormalong Bay once on my Disneymoon. And I know I only went in the POR pool once on our last November trip. If I have a choice between pool time or nap time, I'm taking nap time...every time! :)

The Poly is SO beautiful! I want to be there now too!!! I can't believe I have to wait until October to go back to WDW! Why can't we all just go, whenever we want! Ugh!

OMG I can't WAIT to go to Ohana again! The bread pudding is my favorite thing in life.

I looked over at Mom and we exchanged “I have no clue what is going on” looks. Because I always think in terms of worst case scenarios, I couldn’t help but think that our bus driver had gone insane and was either going to run off and leave us sitting in a bus in the middle of World Drive or she was going to murder us all.

Haha! I know my transportation paranoia would have kicked in here. :lmao:

I've had an account on the DIS for a while now, but I didn't get up the guts to start posting until a little over a year ago. It's a bit intimidating, y'know? But, now that a year has passed, I am so thankful that I did it. It's been a joy getting to share my Disney memories with all of you. But also, it's been so much fun just getting to know you all. I don't have many people (outside of my family) in the "real world" who "get" Disney. My friends will listen to my Disney stories and pretend to be excited when I flail over everything, but I've never really had someone who'll flail with me. I'm really glad that I've found that here.

::yes:: I tend to lurk most of the time, but I love The DIS for giving me that much-needed connection to Disney and people who get it.

I'm loving your TR. It literally makes me LOL. And crave a strawberry daquiri. Win, win! :thumbsup2 Looking forward to more.

A Special Message to All of My Readers:

Guys, before I post the next update (which I will do momentarily), I just wanted to take a moment to thank each and every one of you for reading, commenting, and just being all-around awesome people! Your comments and kind words mean the world to me. Getting to know you guys has made the place I love more than anything in the whole entire world even more special. And that's quite the accomplishment. Kudos, guys. Kudos. :rotfl:

Anyway, basically what I'm trying to say is that you all rock! Thank you for putting up with my ridiculousness and I look forward to sharing the rest of this trip (and those in the future) with you guys!

GROUP HUG!
:grouphug:

Just wait until you become *that girl* that everyone goes to for Disney advice... I spent the weekend putting together an Excel document with 4 tabs in it for one of my Mom's coworkers :sad2:

But it's her first time to Disney!! She has a daughter age 7 and a son age 5 and I'm SO EXCITED for them! :yay:

Okay, I think the WDW blues are getting to me, because I just got teary-eyed through your whole update! I think it's because we were there at the same time.

Ohana is always yummy! :goodvibes Kristen, Chris, Fiance, and I were eating at Yak & Yeti that night...but you have to be surprised when we post about it!

Great report! I just now am tuning in and I love it!
My husband have two little girls and now a little guy, an I hope they love disney still when they are older.
We are also HUUUUUUge! Buckeye fans...even with all the drama;)
Can't wait for more.:thumbsup2

Ahh I get so excited when you post new updates
But oh my GODDD I totally understand your obsession with 'Ohana. I had always heard it was good and a difficult reservation to get, and after seeing food pictures of it I decided to try it on my past trip in February.
Needless to say, it's now the family favorite. Nbd :upsidedow
I wish I was there right noww! Next time I go I need to make sure I'm starving so I can stuff myself with a weeks worth of 'Ohana food.
Best restaurant ever :lovestruc
Isn't it just the most amazing place? The food seems so simple, but it's to die for! Someday we need to like rent 'Ohana out for the evening and have a DIS party. We can all just stuff our faces for hours and hours. It would be spectacular.
Mmmmmm Ohana. :cloud9: And can I just tell you that your TR is making me SO excited for our stay at the Poly in July!! :woohoo: This TR is the best! :yay: I get so excited when you update it! :)
I'm so excited for you to stay at the Poly! You are going to absolutely love it.
Yeah I agree 100% !! This is my favorite trip report ever
Aw, shucks.
I know what you mean about not being a pool girl, I'm not one either! I think I went in Stormalong Bay once on my Disneymoon. And I know I only went in the POR pool once on our last November trip. If I have a choice between pool time or nap time, I'm taking nap time...every time! :)

::yes:: Exactly. Nap time always wins. Plus, after a morning of sensory overload in the parks, I like to be able to just enjoy the quiet, air-conditioned goodness of my hotel room.
'OHANA!!!!!!!! :cheer2:

That's how I feel about it....
:rotfl: Why did I even bother writing out a whole post when I could have just posted this incredibly accurate assessment of my feelings about 'Ohana? It would've saved me so much time. LOL.
Haha! I know my transportation paranoia would have kicked in here. :lmao:

I'm glad I'm not the only one with transportation paranoia.

Thanks, dear! And I'm really craving a strawberry daquiri right now too. I think I'll have to stop and get a smoothie after my dance class later to attempt to stop the cravings.

:yay:
I always have these visions of all of my friends calling me like 10 years from now for Disney advice as they plan trips for their families. LOL.

Aw they are going to have so much fun!
YUMM! I really need to get my butt to 'Ohana! The food looks so SO good! :faint:
Yes, you do. It is SOOOOOOOOOO good.

I got teary-eyed writing it, so I don't blame you. It just feels like we were there so long ago, y'know? I'm ready to go back!

Don't worry, I'm really good at feigning surprise. ;)
Great report! I just now am tuning in and I love it!
My husband have two little girls and now a little guy, an I hope they love disney still when they are older.
We are also HUUUUUUge! Buckeye fans...even with all the drama;)
Can't wait for more.
Welcome! I'm sure they'll still love Disney when they're older. How could they not? It's just so magical. :wizard:

Yay, more Buckeye fans!

Kara!!! You're so sweet and I love having you as a Dis friend. Can't wait for that Girls of the Dis trip.

First of all, I love that you saw those and thought of me. And I love that I've become, like, the crazy friend who's still obsessed with *NSYNC. But, this probably shouldn't come as too much of a surprise, I actually already have those guys. :rotfl: Granted they are in a box in a closet in my parents' house, but I do have them. But thanks so much for offering to send them to me! You're such a great *NSYNC-obsession-enabling friend! :thumbsup2

Yes, definitely make an 'Ohana reservation for your next trip. You will not regret it!

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAH I totally would've bought the "Blue" bath bomb as well, just to see what it would do. But that's lame that it just turned the water blue. As soon as you put it in the tub, it should like explode with glitter and start playing that "I'm Blue da ba de da ba da" song. That would be way more exciting. Clearly, I need to start my own line of bath bombs.

JULY 27TH PART ONE: SOBBING IN THE SHOWER

Well, folks, we’ve reached the part of our trip in which I started to catch a major case of the sads…It was our last full day in WDW. :sad1: I know, I know. I’m sure you’re just as torn up about it as I was at the time. Last full days are just so bittersweet. It’s like, you’re sad because it’s your last full day, but at the same time, you want to try and have the most fun you can possibly have, so you do your best to downplay all of the “I’M NOT LEAVING TOMORROW. NO ONE CAN MAKE ME” feelings and focus on the “I’M IN MY HAPPY PLACE AND NOTHING CAN RUIN THAT” feelings. But it’s tough, and, inevitably, some of those “IT’S JUST SO SAD!” feelings make their way out and you randomly burst into tears throughout the day.

Or at least I do.

On this particular morning, I completely lost it… in the shower. THE SHOWER. Of all the places to have that first “I DON’T WANNA LEAVE” moment, my crazy self picked the shower. I guess I must just care really deeply about the green-tiled showers or something. LOL.

Anyway, I pulled myself together and we made it up to the monorail station like 10 minutes before 8:00. There were Extra Magic Hours at the Magic Kingdom this morning and we were ready to go take advantage of them.
676.jpg

There were a lot of people waiting when we got up there. It wasn’t like the line was backing up through the Great Ceremonial House (yet) but it was pretty busy. It was strange because, even in the middle of July, it’s normally not that crowded. Or, at least, we've never been up there while it was that crowded.

We waited for 10 minutes before a monorail finally showed up, but, despite the fact that it was empty, it didn’t stop to let people on. Weird.
677.jpg

We waited 10 more minutes before another monorail showed up – this time with some people on it – but they weren’t letting any of us board. Huh? Everyone standing in that line looked at each other with “What is going on?” faces. The CMs on the platform weren’t saying anything, and we were really confused. If they were having technical problems, we would have really liked to know before we wasted more of our time standing there waiting for nothing.

We gave it 5 more minutes, and when a monorail still hadn’t arrived to pick us up, we gave up and headed down to the boat dock. At this point, the line for the monorail was backed up into the GCH. It was ridiculous. The fact that no one would tell the guests what was going on or how long they might have to wait was extremely frustrating.

Anyway, we headed outside where there was, thankfully, a boat ready and waiting to take us to the Magic Kingdom. We had already missed a big chunk of EMH. We didn’t want to miss even more.
678.jpg

You can tell we were in a hurry because I didn’t even bother trying to center the boat between two of the lampposts. I just took the darn picture. LOL.

679.jpg

The Magic Kingdom! We're finally almost there!

680.jpg

My feet! The Seven Seas Lagoon! The reflection of the sun!

Despite our transportation issues, we still managed to make it through the turnstiles by 8:30, and made a beeline to Fantasyland to enjoy our Extra Magic Half Hour.

But first, some Cinderella Castle pics.
682.jpg

Ignore Katie's head in this one. For whatever reason, I always wind up walking behind the rest of the family and they ALWAYS manage to step right into my shot. I have an insane amount of pictures of the back of their heads.

684.jpg

685.jpg

687.jpg

Mom noticed that Mary Poppins and Bert were a-meetin’ and a-greetin’ right by the carousel, so we headed over there. Mom’s a big Mary Poppins fan. I don’t really remember what we talked about, but they were both very sweet.
279-1.jpg

Next, we headed over to the Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh. I kind of adore this ride. It makes me smile. And bouncing with Tigger makes me giggle. And Katie and I always sing along with the “Heffalumps and Woozles” song. It’s a spectacular song. A heffalump or woozle is very confuzzle. A heffalump or woozle’s very sly. SLY! Sly! Sly!

The real queue was under construction at the time, so we entered (and exited) the ride through this make-shift queue. It was rather strange.

CONTINUED IN NEXT POST~

By now it was almost 9:00 (aka rope drop time for everyone else) after grabbing Fastpasses for Peter Pan’s Flight, we joined the huddled masses waiting to be let into Frontierland. Why Frontierland isn’t open during AM EMH is beyond me, but it’s not.
700.jpg

Oops, my lens didn't open all the way. It does look kinda cool though.
701.jpg

Right at 9:00, they dropped the rope and we were off.
704.jpg

Hmmm…I can’t help but wonder if the family in green is on the DISboards. LOL.
705.jpg

706.jpg

708.jpg

Ooooooo Look at those nasty July crowds! Y'all should probably just cancel any trip you might have planned for July 3rd-8th this year. ;)

Thunder Mountain wasn’t open yet due to technical difficulties, so EVERYONE wound up headed for Splash. It was kind of a mess.
709.jpg

711.jpg

But once we all funneled into the queue, we basically walked right on.

In the words of Stacey, "There doesn't seem to be any track." Er, water.

Even though my family tried their best to convince me otherwise, I was still pretty certain we were going to plummet to our deaths. As you all know by now, I’m the Queen of Worst-Cast Scenarios. LOL.

724.jpg

I just love the briar patch. It's so cute!
726.jpg

It was a really sunny day.

Despite the lack of water, the ride was as enjoyable as ever. Except, I managed to get soaked. I always make sure to A) ride behind my dad and use him as a human shield and to B) duck down during the big drop, but this time, I somehow managed to prematurely un-duck and got hit in the face with a giant wave of water. It was…wet. And *I* was wet for the rest of the morning.
730.jpg

I kinda look like Brer Rabbit in that "You may get wet" picture I posted earlier. Guess I should have heeded the warning. LOL.

UP NEXT: More MK Fun! princess:

Great update!!! :thumbsup2

I hate that feeling on the last full day. :( I always try to rebel and hide or protest so I don't have to leave, but someone always makes me. Ugh.

That's weird about the monorail. :confused3 I hope that doesn't happen to us this July! Good thing you caught a boat right away though! :)

Those castle pics are great! :cloud9:

We were there from July 11-18 and the crowds were about the same as you guys. Maybe a little less on certain days...but after Wishes on that Saturday night...the 17th I think?? Forget about even moving or breathing for at least 20 minutes. It was so crowded that one of the little ice cream carts that was all folded up and such got pushed over on its side. That was nuts. :scared1

The Winnie the Pooh ride is so cute! I love the bouncing part it's so fun! And I love singing along with the Heffalump and Woozle song too!! :goodvibes "They come in ones and toozles, and if they so choozles, before your eyes you'll see them multiply ply PLY PLY!!" HAHAHA. Love it. :) The queue was not a makeshift one when we were there a few days later though. It was just really small, but a lot of those green walls weren't even there, if I remember right, but the big tree was still being worked on. I love the new queue though, it's so entertaining! If I didn't love the actual ride so much, I would probably just skip it and play in the queue with all of the preschoolers for a while!

Splash Mountain is my all time FAVORITE ride ever. Although the Disneyland one is slightly better, the WDW one still entertains me to no end. :yay: I love getting soaked on that ride though, because when I don't I feel like I didn't get the full experience and I need to ride again. Maybe it's because I ALWAYS get completely drenched on the DL one and 9 out of 10 times I end up in the front. :thumbsup2 My brother and I always fight over it and I usually win. :lmao: I always seem to end up toward the back or in the very back at WDW though. So I am DETERMINED to be in the front at least once this summer!

Anyways, enough of my tangents.

Can't wait for more!!popcorn::

***By the way, in that pic of you on Splash Mountain, YOU ARE MAKING THE DEER FACE!!! I cannot tell you how proud I am that the beautiful deer face is making it's way into other people's TR's and lives. I am touched. Spread the magic everyone. The deer face is your friend.

:lmao: :rotfl: :rotfl2:

I had a feeling you would already have them!! I was at a party last night and Pop started playing on the speakers and I was like, "Oh snap, they're playing my song!!!" I remember how enamored I was with the Lance "stripping" scene.

You should TOTALLY make your own bath bombs that explode with glitter! It would be a HIT at pool parties!

Awwww, last day. I'm getting sad too!

Wow...what a weird thing that happened with the monorails. Sounds like the same thing that happened to me on my way to Montreal (in my mini-TR)!

It's great that you were able to get on a boat. I was half expecting to read about this SUPER LONG LINE that had formed for the boats because of the monorail!

Well, half an hour is STILL good in the mornings! It means you're already IN the park when it opens! EMH mornings at MK sure are popular.

I've never been on the Winnie the Pooh ride. I can't wait to try it out with the new queue.

Huh....too bad about Thunder not being up. Must've been crazy over at Splash.

Awww, you got all wet! I dunno if I like the briar patch or not. I think it's kind of scary...

Boooooo!!! Last day in WDW feelings are so conflicting!!! On one hand, you are sooooo sad that you are leaving but on the other hand you know you have to be thrilled that you get to spend the whole day in the parks! What a conundrum!

Sounds like you've had a great morning so far!

Well, you probably know by now that I'm a crier on the last day too. I totally cry like all day at random moments.

Ugh, first thing in the morning, trying to ride the monorail seem to be the worst. As you'll see in our next update that I'm getting ready to type!

I actually love that pic of your feet on the boat. I could almost feel the breeze from the boat and squint because of the sun. Ahh..to be there right now!! :sad1:

Your Splash pics made me smile. I am having WDW blues, so anything and everything from the MK melts my heart now.

BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Yeah I just laughed out loud. Like a lot. Pretty sure if my family was in the room they would have given me a very strange look.

This whole report has Frump and Kristen writted all over it.
Splash Mountain. Polynesian. Monorail. July. Deer Face. Winnie the Pooh. Like really. To the tee.

Loved the update :thumbsup2 This is still my favorite trip report. I got really disappointed when I saw it was the last day because I realized that there's only a few updates left. :sad1: I guess I'll enjoy it while it lasts!

HAHAHA I have been waiting for you to read my comment so you could laugh A LOT. :rotfl2: I'm sorry I'm slightly obnoxious. :confused3

Splash Mountain, the monorail, the deer face and Winnie the Pooh are the bestestest. :thumbsup2

And I'm pretty sure the Poly will be on that list soon once I stay there. I'm already in love with it. :cloud9:

And I always go to WDW in July so yay!!

Sorry Kara I'm distracting little frumpish Jess from the beauty that is your trip report. :worship: I just can't help myself!! :lmao:

This is my favorite too. I always crack up when I'm reading it. :rotfl2:

I know. I've debated just hiding in the bushes and hoping that my family forgets about me, but it's never worked. They always remember. Why do my parents have to be such good parents? :rotfl:

Yeah, I don't really know what was up with the monorail. But I've stayed at the Polynesian 6 times and I've never had a single monorail issue aside from that one, so I'm sure everything will be A-OK for your trip! :thumbsup2

Oh my gosh. The post-Wishes crowds in July are TERRIFYING. I'm a tad on the claustrophobic side, so it's awful. There are just so many people! And they're all moving in different directions! And there are a zillion strollers everywhere! It's horrible.

I think I may need to borrow someone's preschooler so that I can justify spending time playing in the new Pooh queue.

Aw, I hope you get to ride in the front this summer. I've never actually ridden in the front (I like having people in front of me...I'm weird like that) but my sister swears by it. It's the unspoken rule in our family that Katie gets the front seat on Splash Mt. and Space Mt.

LOL. Peace, love, and deer face, everybody! :hippie:

Awww, you got all wet! I dunno if I like the briar patch or not. I think it's kind of scary...
Whenever I hear *NSYNC in public, I always scream and then sing along loudly. My friends hate me for it, but an *NSYNC fan's gotta do what an *NSYNC fan's gotta do.

Yeah, I was kinda shocked at how not busy the boats were, but I guess everyone wanting to go to the Magic Kingdom was already upstairs waiting for the monorail.

Exactly. We made the most of our half hour. :upsidedow

I mean, the briar patch is scary when you're hurdling down into it, but when you're just floating past it, I think it's kinda cute. But I'm weird so I'm probably the only one who feels that way. "AWWWWW! Look how cute the sharp, pointy things are!" ;)
Boooooo!!! Last day in WDW feelings are so conflicting!!! On one hand, you are sooooo sad that you are leaving but on the other hand you know you have to be thrilled that you get to spend the whole day in the parks! What a conundrum!

Sounds like you've had a great morning so far!
Exactly. The last full day is definitely one of those roller coaster of emotion days, but we tried to make the best of it. I think we were pretty successful.

Yeah, it was weird. We hadn't had any monorail issues all week and then BOOM! it was broken or something. I just wish they would do a better job communicating what the problem was and how long the wait might be to the guests. It wouldn't have been that hard for them to be like, "We're sorry, but we're having some issues this morning. Perhaps you'd like to head outside and catch a boat to the Magic Kingdom."

I actually have that picture of my feet on the boat hanging on the cork board in my room for that very reason. It's like you can just feel the sun when you look at it. Oh, Disney, I miss you!

I feel so honored that my TR has been bestowed with the "Frump" title. I'm not worthy! :worship:

Don't worry. I'll probably be able to drag this thing out for a little while longer. And, come July, I'll have a brand new trip to share with you guys! I promise that it'll be 87575939237584 times more spectacular than this one.
:rotfl2: :rotfl: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

:rotfl2:
Well, Kristen, I guess this means we're Disney Twins. We should probably order t-shirts with our faces on them or something. :rotfl:
