Nevada is talking about repealing its ban on gay marriage. We could be the first state to write it into our constitution (around 2016). Do not know why it was banned in the first place. I do not like laws that get involved with people's personal lives. We have enough laws on the books. Glad to get some good news after the crazy week this country has had. Hopefully, they catch the other suspect in the Boston bombings before he dies, so they can interrogate him and see if anyone else helped them.

Interesting and I learn something new every day! I thought same-sex marriage was already legally recognised in a few states on the East Coast. Is there a difference between writing it in the constitution and legally recognising the union?

It is, but it has not been listed in any state constitutions. When something is listed in the constitution, it is harder to remove or reverse. It takes two votes (meaning two passes by all voting parties) to add or repeal something in the constitution whereas, it only takes one to amend a law. I think this is a good step though. Hopefully, it will be written into the national constitution soon. Basically, the extra vote makes it harder for one group to reverse as offices change every two years. If someone were to vote to repeal it in one vote, they can be kicked out of office (not re-elected) before they get a chance to vote against it a second time. At least, that is the impression I got from the news report today. I will be doing more research. My sister has been with her girlfriend for over 13 years. They want to get married but are waiting until it will actually be honored. Crap's sister married her wife in California during the brief time it was legal. To my knowledge, California honors the marriages (although it does not currently accept any more). The only problem is they live in Nevada, which does not honor it yet. They have to pay a stupid premium to be on each others insurance and a number of other different things that are not fair.

Same-sex marriage debate is an on-again, off-again debate in Australia too. This week, it had some press coverage because New Zealand just passed the law through their Parliament to make it legal.
Our current politicians are incredibly conservative! 65% of the Australian population are happy to recognise same-sex marriage and would like it to be legal. Sadly, both sides of politics over here do not. :sad2:

I'm all right... Been having computer issues lately. How are you guys?

Sorry about your computer. I have a feeling my laptop will be dying soon. I will not replace it though, since my iPad works fine for most things and I still have the desktop for others.

We are doing well. No one is sick (cannot wait until the kids are older and stop bringing home sickness all the time). Crap comes home from his business trip tonight, so that makes me happy.

I'm okay. Mundane life seems very pleasant right now compared to what is happening in Boston.

What about you? I hear wild weather and flooding in Chicago....are you okay?
