It's ALL about the FOOD! An October 2012 PTR! - Trip Report Started.

I am sure he wouldn't mind as long as he could do something he wanted to! Might as well make use of that AP!

I interject the regular scheduled programming for this personal life update...

So today.. I am both extremely happy and extremely sad..

As you may or may not know.. I am currently living apart from my husband.. no we aren't "separated" We just happened to find a house we love in a different state and financially the only way we could make it happen that we could purchase it was I had to keep my job in California. He moved to Colorado February 1 and I've only seen him for 8 days at the end of February since then.

So anyways.. the reason I am happy and sad today is... His best friend had me over for dinner on Wednesday and told me that he was flying to Colorado on Saturday (today) to surprise my husband! I gave his friend an extra hug to give to Hunter for me... so I asked Hunter if he had gotten anything from Chris from me.. when he replied a great big hug I just broke into tears because I want to be the one to give him one so bad and i've been crying since..

So I'm very happy that my hubby gets to spend the weekend with his best friend (and super excited we pulled off the surprise even though I had to sound like a stalker wife all morning asking him where he was! :rotfl2:) but I am super sad that I have to wait 3 more weeks to see him!

Paula, those 3 weeks are going to fly on by and you will be with Hunter before you know it.

I know they will... but then the 2 weeks we are together will go even faster!

Thankfully I did get my vacation approved for my Birthday so 3 weeks after I leave in May I will get to see him again! (provided I can find airfare that won't cost me an arm and a leg!)

Unfortunately the visit after June is as of yet unknown... I have extra shifts scheduled for most of the weeks through July so it may be August or September before I see him! :confused3

Then October is the Disney trip so we all know how fast that will go by!

Then once I'm back from Disney I have lots of extra shifts through the first week of January.. I need to find a time to go see him in November or December! No way can I go from October till January without seeing him!

I know I would go crazy if I didn't see Scotty for lengths of time like that. How soon before you will be able to move to Colorado to be with him?

That is so sad but sweet. I'm so glad you got your birthday vacation approved and you get to see him in 3 weeks at least. You're right, the time with him will fly by. At least you know it isn't forever. :goodvibes

Awww, it's bittersweet knowing your DH was surprised but you couldn't be there to hug him yourself. Just take it one day at a time!

We are hoping I will be able to move there in February but I think I will need to stay a bit longer as money isn't getting saved as much as it should be! Of course a no holds barred Disney trip isn't going to help anything! :rotfl2:

I would say I should just cancel the Disney Trip but to be honest its the only thing that keeps me want to keep plugging along while being alone so I need to plan this trip for my sanity!

Less than 3 weeks! I was able to switch another one of my days so I will be able to see him in 20 days! I will be on Vacation for 15 days and only using 3 vacation days! My other 3 days I would normally work I was able to trade! Trading works better since I don't get that much vacation!

20 more days and then I get to see him!!

So... Today marks.... 7 days till ADR's!!!!! :cool1::thumbsup2

Well at least some of them. I will only be able to make the first 11 days worth. And since our arrival day doesn't have any I guess I still only get to do 10 days worth! :lmao:

Anyone have any more thoughts on my choices?!?

I was reading that the food at the WAVE isn't very good. Has anyone eaten there? In 2009 it was getting good reviews but I guess that has changed!!

If we don't have The Wave before MNSSHP maybe we should just grab CS in MK? Or somewhere else on the monorail loop?

What are the better CS places in MK that might be open during the party?

I don't know what CS is open during MNSSHP, so I am also interested in this info. I had a terrible experience during MK evening EMH hours during which I couldn't find anything to eat, anywhere. I'm still not sure if anything but popcorn carts were open... but I was STARVING!

We ate at the Wave in Sept 2010. I enjoyed my food, but it wasn't a place I felt like we needed to return to anytime soon. That was also the meal where our table was never cleared- dishes just kept piling up all the way through dessert!

I guess we will have to figure that out! I ran into a similar problem at DL. We couldn't find anything open!

As far as the Wave I think I would rather get cheaper CS food than just ok food at a higher price. The comments I've been reading are that the service is poor and the food is not very good. Sad to head cause when I was reading reviews from '09 they were pretty positive! Especially of the desserts and now the reviews are that they are pretty awful! oh the decisions! I could move 'Ohana to that day but I'm afraid that would take too long plus I don't think I want to waddle through the party (or I could dress as a penguin and then a waddle would be appropriate!)

I'm wondering this, too! My plan is to have an early dinner at Raglan Road... but I'd like to know what QS places are open during the party, in case we get hungry later. The only one I recall reading is Cosmic Ray's, and even then only the one window that serves burgers is open. I can't remember what other places are open. I'm pretty sure CHH closes during the party. I guess we'll have to wait until closer to October to find out!

Pecos Bill's, Casey's Corner, and the Lunching Pad are all open as well.

Thanks Jenny for answering for us!

I think I have pretty much decided against trying to go to the WAVE that night for dinner. It would be early and with lunch at Raglan Road we might not even have been hungry anyways. Instead we will have lunch around noon at Raglan Road and then dinner at a CS when we get Hungry at MK! Plus this way we can enter the park at 4pm with the MNSSHP tickets!!

So... I'm feeling really depressed today and contemplating canceling this trip. I know that sounds weird that something I am looking forward to so much but it is going to be quite a bit of money. My hubby is just going along to appease me and I don't know. In one way its the only thing I look forward to as I am stuck apart from my hubby but in another I wonder if it will cause it to be longer till I can move to CO if we go on the trip. I have time to decide. I will be out the money for the DVC exchange but that is it at this point. The other option would be to shorten the trip to just the week at DVC. The problem with that though would be missing the Swolphin F&W classic which I think hubby would REALLY enjoy..

Like I said.. I am just feeling really down and sad and alone. Hopefully after I see my hubby in a few weeks I will feel better.

Aw Paula, I am sorry you are feeling down. What ever you decide on I am sure it will be the best for you and your hubby, but I hope that you get to go since it is something that you love.

Paula, I am sorry you are down. I hope that you find a solution that makes you happy.

I'm so sorry you are having such a rough time. I don't envy all the tough decisions you have to make :(

Sorry you are feeling down and having mixed feelings about the trip.

Thanks everyone. I am feeling a little better today but still frustrated over a lot of things.

I want this trip SO BAD! It's all I can think about and it gives me something to look forward to when I am all alone in my room! When I look at the costs of everything it doesn't seem like that much until you add it all together and then the amount is staggering! I imagine I will have to find a way to cut out some of the events if we go but I know those are what would make my hubby happy so that is why I am so TORN!

The thing that really has me frustrated right now though is the airfare costs! When we originally decided for me to live apart from my hubby the costs so go see him were under $200 round trip and now they are $300+ r/t! Multiply that times the 4 more trips I need to book and its $1200!! I was counting on no more than $700 for the same trips! So that's $500 I wasn't planning to spend right there plus with high gas costs the cost for my hubby to come get me from the airport will be high as well. UGH! Like my hubby says nothing can go easy for us! Why couldn't we have won at least a little bit of those millions! LOL!!
