we LOVED Saratoga Springs! :cloud9:  We own at SSR and just had our first visit Dec. 31- Jan. 3rd. We were quite nervous as I had read so many conflicting reveiws of the resort. We bought there b/c of the great incentives but we had toured the resort and liked the looks of it.

Here is a brief report of what we loved:

We checked in on NYE at 11:15am and had planned that our room would not be ready until after 4pm. I crossed my fingers that we would get into our room by 6pm. Well some pixie dust must have fallen on us b/c our room was actually ready when we checked in at 11:15am! I never imagined that would happen. We had a glitch with our Dining plan but the CM, Jose, got it fixed immediately and was extremely helpful and kind.

We were in Carousel, villa #7714 on the 3rd floor. I had not requested a location b/c I did not know what would really be best for our family. We were thrilled with Carousel. We overlooked the parking lot but we could see all of the PI NYE freworks from our balcony. How great is that!! :lovestruc

Our room was spotless and I am extremely picky. It was cleaned by Connie and she did a fantastic job. There were no maintenance issues and we were very comfortable. The decor was lovely and the beds were cozy.

Food at Artist Palette was very good. We ate 2 meals there. Awesome CMs, clean restaurant, pleasant atmosphere. We did not have time to try Turf Club but we did play pool in the Lounge one afternoon.

It was such a great stay and we will be happy to use the resort many times in the future. I can, however, see where the resort might be a challenge for someone that does not have a car with them. We were quite far from the food area and pool. We drive to the parks so waiting for the buses is not an issue for us. If you were carless, it would be quite crucial to be in a centrally located building.

We joined DVC in May 2007 and have stayed at AKV, HHI, BC and SSR. We will be staying at VWL in Feb. and then will do a split stay at BWV and OKW in March. We will be back at AKV in a grand villa in May. We feel fortunate to have tried all the resorts, other than VB, in less than our first year of ownership. We plan to try VB in Oct. in combination with another DCL cruise.

So far, our ressies have had a retail value of over $16,000 (including our cruise and our upcoming stay in an AKV grand Villa), very close to what we paid for our first contract. DH is a Realtor so we will hold off on any more add-ons until the real estate market levels out but we are so thrilled with DVC. We plan to add on at least another 200 points (we currently have 340) and we look forward to many great years of DVC vacations!! :goodvibes

Glad you love your home resort. (It would be a real bummer if you didn't.) We joined DVC last year and SSR is our home resort as well. We never heard all the complaints about SSR being too large to navigate until after we became members. Honestly, I don't see what all the fusss is about. We stayed at SSR last May and, yes, the resort is huge but it's easy to manage, even with two kids. We think it's beautifully landscaped and love the room decor. Can't wait to head back in May.

:) Nice to hear happy news. Glad you had a great time.

OT.... Lots of double and triple posts today. I had a double myself early this morning.

But I also stayed at SSR checked in 12/30 into two studios at 11 am, both studios were ready! The resort is wonderful, the pools are great. The NYE fireworks are really worth watching with no crowds! I will be making my reservations for NYE in 3 weeks! Oh, now the weather was a little cold, maybe DVC can do something about that!

We enjoy our stays at SSR too.

We just returned and had a great trip.

We are making our ressies for NYE in 3 weeks too! This will be our 5th year!

LIFERBABE...by any chance did you have a wreath on the front of your car that was shaped like a Mickey head with a red bow? Not sure whose car it was but it was soooo cute.

We are also making SSR NY ressies in a few weeks. Thought that we would make it a tradition. We sail on the 7 night cruise on Jan. 3rd so we can do 3 nights at SSR before we sail. I loved watching the fireworks from our balcony and DH loved watching them by the CP pool. It was a fun party. The next night we snuggled in to watch the Sugar Bowl with UGA vs Hawaii and we were so content and cozy. I will spring for a 2 bedroom on our next trip however so that we have a little extra space!
