It's a-LIVE, a-LiVE...Trip Report, That Is

We headed down to get in line for Fantasmic around 9:45 for the 10:30 showing. We were admitted a short while later and got seats in the back middle of the theater. While we were waiting for the show to start, my husband bought us some water and this awesome R2-D2 popcorn container:

At about 10:15, they announced that there was a possibility of canceling the show due to inclement weather in the area, but told us they would wait until 10:30 to make a final decision. At 10:30, they announced that the show was definitely cancelled :-( It hadn't rained or anything yet, but I guess they thought the chances were too great.

They did do a little consolation show, which I think they described as a sampling of Fantasmic. Basically, they ran some of the fountains and set off some of the fireworks.

It lasted about five minute or less. It was nice that they still did something rather than just sending everyone on their way after waiting so long, but we were still disappointed. I haven't seen it in about 12 or 13 years, and my husband has never seen it. We are going to try to see it Saturday night after dinner, provided that the weather cooperates.

Since the park had already closed, we made our way out of the park right away. As you can see from this picture I took on the way out, everyone else was pretty much doing the same.

I was afraid we would have to wait awhile for a bus with so many people exiting at once, but luckily, we did not have to wait at all. There was already a bus at the bus stop with room left on it. Interestingly enough, it was a yellow Mears bus, not a Disney bus. It actually had nice comfy chairs like a tour bus, as you can see in the picture below:

We made it back to the resort pretty quickly, changed into our swimsuits, and went for a swim in the 50s pool. Now it's time for bed, and I am exhausted! Luckily, we plan on sleeping in until at least nine tomorrow. :woohoo:

Love the pics! I've never been on TGMR, but I want to try it next time. :) Come on, did you make it to F! ?

You have never been on TGMR!?!?! I know some people don't like it because they think it is outdated (which it is somewhat), but I still love it. I try to go on it at least once every trip.

As far as Fantasmic, they cancelled the second show for weather reasons (see my post for more information.) We are going to have to see it another night :-(

Bummer about Fantasmic, sorry about that! :( We just haven't done it, we're usually less than half day at DHS. That'll change on our November 2013 trip, I intend to make a full day of it for Osborne lights and F! If only it were sooner!:) I'll definitely hit it next time we go!

Ooh, jealous...never been at Christmas time! Sounds like lots of fun!

I wondered why you didnt ride or get FPs for TSMM. Glad to see you did!!! That is my DH's favorite. I promised him three mornings at DHS so he can ride and FP it each time. Whatever keeps him happy. :confused3 Love RNRC and ToT!!!!!!! Bummer about Fantasmic! Hope you get to see it on Saturday.

Yeah, we would have liked to ride it a second time, but they ran out of fastpasses so quickly. We did NOT want to wait 90 minutes, as much as we like the ride! Fingers crossed for Fantasmic on Saturday!

I am very proud of my pure score on Buzz Light Year!! Some people just prefer to do things the old fashioned way!! ;-) sour grapes!?!!! ;-)

This is my husband if you can't tell. He thinks I must have cheated, or else I never could have beaten him :-p. Men!!!

DH--Pure score!? Yes, you do have sour grapes! In fact, on TSMM Mania you and the guy in front of us in line both tried to argue that your pull string was malfunctioning. That sounds like sour grapes to me :-p.

This morning we slept in for once! My husband got up around 9:30, and I got up around 10. Once we were both awake, he ran down to the food court to grab us a couple of breakfast items using our snack credits. He ended up getting a croissant and a cinnamon roll, and we each had half of each.

After breakfast, we headed down to the Hippy Dippy pool and went swimming for a half an hour or so. This was the first time we had been to this pool; we usually go to the bowling pin pool right near our room. The Hippy Dippy pool actually seemed cooler in temperature than the bowling pin pool, which is usually a little warm. I think I like both pools equally, although the Hippy Dippy does have the added benefit of the flower showers.

After swimming, we got ready to head to Downtown Disney for lunch and shopping, and as luck would have it, a bus pulled up about a minute after we reached the bus stop. I am really loving our luck with the Pop buses! :woohoo:

Stay tuned for a Downtown Disney update later today!

Does "old fashioned way" mean losing??? :rotfl2: I am terrible at any kind of shooting game so DH and DB always beat me. They prefer to ride together so there is some competition.

We arrived at Downtown Disney just before one o' clock.

Our first stop was Earl of Sandwich for lunch.

Since it was rather busy, my husband got in line to place our orders, while I got us a table. I would definitely recommend doing this, as sometimes you have to wait several minutes for a table to open up, and it's very hard to carry a tray around for that long while looking for a table.

My husband and I both got the Carribean Jerk Chicken sandwich.

For dessert, he got a cupcake with sprinkles, and I got a chocolate chip cookie.

Both were very good! I once read someone on the DIS comparing Earl of Sandwich to Panera Bread, but I don't think that's a fair comparison. I love Panera Bread and eat there at least once a month, but Earl of Sandwich is much better!

After lunch, we headed over to Once Upon a Toy. I took a few pictures of the carousel and the cool landscaping displays on the way:

We saw some cute items in Once Upon a Toy, but we didn't buy anything. I love their Mr. Potato Head parts, but not having a kid, I have no reason to buy any.

Next, we checked out Team Mickey, but didn't find anything that we wanted.

We finally made a few purchases when we reached World of Disney. With so much merchandise in that store, how could we not find something to love?

34730999-D694-4C9F-BC4E-6DFD8B7D8437-5333-00000559969F3EDD.jpg

We ended up purchasing a hand towel for our kitchen, a travel mug, a picture frame, and a Tigger baby sleeper. I am not entirely sure who will get the baby sleeper, but it was too cute to pass up. We have a couple of babies that were recently born/are about to be born in our family, so we could give it to one of them. It's so cute, though, that I am pretty tempted to just store it away for if/when we eventually have our own child.

Next, we stopped by the Lego store. We didn't buy anything but couldn't resist some of the picture opportunities. Being the complete dorks that we are, we enjoyed seeing the Lord of the Rings Legos (especially my husband), and the Harry Potter Legos (especially me.)

As we left the Lego store, I noticed another cool landscaping display:

Over the past few days, my husband has been checking out the Disney iPhone cases, but he couldn't decide what he wanted to get. He finally chose one today from one of the carts at DTD:

Our last stop was the Christmas store.

660C1445-5C2A-4A21-9238-322F4B26364E-5333-0000055A4FF50977.jpg

When we were there a couple of years ago, we wanted to get a bride and groom ornament, but we didn't end up buying one because we couldn't get it personalized in time. This time we picked one up and had them put our wedding date and names on it.

FA2C74C6-7BAE-4829-A4AE-3CB4A763C4DC-5333-0000055A55426BCC.jpg

We also got another ornament, which we had them personalize with "Happy Anniversary" and our names and anniversary date.

FEB92E74-1732-4B48-A275-CC66637A4044-5333-0000055A5A4E2DC4.jpg

The personalization for each ornament actually ended up costing more than the ornaments themselves!

After the Christmas store, we went out to the bus stop to catch a bus to the Polynesian, where we are having dinner tonight. We only had to wait five minutes or so for a bus, and as it pulled up, it started to drizzle. At first, I thought this was perfect timing, as I believed it wouldn't start raining heavily until we were on the bus. However, I was mistaken. In the time it took for them to unload and reload the bus, it turned that quickly from a drizzle to a downpour. We ended up getting slightly soaked as we got on. :(

The bus from DTD actually stops at Typhoon Lagoon. Since it was pouring, pretty much everyone was leaving TL at the same time, which made traffic in the parking lot a nightmare. It literally took us about a half an hour just to get out of the TL parking lot!

Luckily, we eventually made it to the Polynesian in one piece! Check back later tonight for dinner at 'Ohana and an evening at the Magic Kingdom.

How many times can I say, "I'm really enjoying your trip report!" More than any other I've followed so far. Probably because your and DH seem to enjoy many of the same things my DH and I do. You sound much like we may have sounded taking an early anniversary trip. 15 years later though, ours will now include more kid pics and antics.

I'm probably going to shed a tear when you say your headed home.

Keep having fun! Never leave! :)

Loving your updates!!! Can't wait to hear about Ohana,we have reservations there when we go next week!!!

Just joining in. Really enjoying your TR and pictures. :goodvibes We are staying at Pop Century for the first time in November.

I was born and raised in Wilmington, DE and my DH was born and raised in Salem, NJ. We left Delaware last summer and now live 60 minutes away from WDW. :woohoo::woohoo:

Glad to have someone from my neck of the woods following along! (Check your PMs; I sent you a message.) :-)

Aww thank you! I usually try to look for people who do similar stuff to us when I read trip reports too; I can relate to them better!

I will probably shed a tear when we go home too...wish we could never leave!

'Ohana will be coming later tonight or first thing tomorrow morning at the latest. (Yummy as usual, especially the bread pudding!)

We arrived at the Polynesian almost two hours after we got on the bus at DTD.

That storm really messed up the transportation time!

We were about an hour and a half early for our 'Ohana reservation, so we decided to head over to Magic Kingdom for a while. When we first got there, the sign out front said they closed at ten, whereas the Times Guide and website said eleven. We stopped at City Hall to check; they confirmed it was eleven and that the sign was wrong. (We actually saw on our way out that they had fixed it.)

I snapped a picture of Main Street on the way in. No better sight than the castle on Main Street!

We hadn't spent much time in Tomorrowland this trip, so that's where we headed.

One of my personal favorites, the Carousel of Progress, never has a wait, so we decided to go on it. I know some people don't like this
attraction, but I have always loved it, especially its theme song, "There's a Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow."

By the time we got off of the Carousel of Progress, it was already time to head back to the Polynesian for our reservation at 'Ohana. We decided to take the boat over to the Poly rather than the monorail, and we arrived just in time for our 6:50 reservation.
