It's a Great Big Beautiful Trip Report

What awesome updates! I love all of your colorful pictures from the party, and long for the day I can get to one. The horseman sounds like it could be a highlight for night- and who can resist candy?!

Fabulous updates! "Snaaaakes in Spaaaaace" really cracked me up. And it sounds like your costume was so much fun for the CMs -- giving a little Disney magic to them in return! :goodvibes

:) I'm glad you liked the Pigs in Space reference! It is one of my all time favorite running bits. I am currently trying to decide whether I have time to volunteer at the EMP when the Muppets exhibit that was just in Orlando comes here in May. There is a cool interactive part of the program and they are looking for volunteers to staff it. Take a look here: http://www.empsfm.org/education/index.asp?categoryID=64 under Mudgarden Muppets Interactive Volunteer. What do you think? I'm a little worried about the puppet security duties - imagine having a puppet injured or abducted on my watch!

It was incredibly fun to bring magic of my own into the park. The opportunity to wear a costume is one of the most special things about the Halloween party.

The party experience is a perfect combination of being a relaxed and playful grown-up and carefree kid at the same time!

Incredible update my dear! The parade looks awesome!:thumbsup2

I am a total parade nut now. A friend actually had to convince me to hang around to watch the afternoon parade for the first time many years ago. I wanted to be out riding rides but she knew that Disney parades were special. There is nothing like being curbside on Main Street with all the lights twinkling, music playing and spectacle passing by.

Now I'm off to make a little spectacle of my own. I am involved in a four week variete/comedy festival that is now in the final weekend of its run, which is one of the reasons my posts have been so few and far between. I've been playing in one of the pit bands for the show and helping out with tech. We're down to the final five shows, and then we will dance and party in celebration of the great shows we've made. It's been super energizing and ridiculously fun. Thanks for hanging in there and I'll be back with the final days of this trip as soon as I can. I'm dying to get on to the December trip, not to mention my weekend at Disneyland!

Awesome parade photos!! I still have to see the Halloween parade yet --- on my list.

Sorry to hear about the folks who kept taking pics during the fireworks -- with flash!! Don't they know??

I definitely know that sad feeling...it's a world of difference between check-in and check out...but I know you have more reports coming!!

Oh and I love the CM reactions to your costume!! I would have loved to see them!:rotfl2:

You are so creative, what I can't wait to see is the costumes you make for you and your family for the Halloween party!

You're so right about the difference between the first and final days of a trip! It's actually a great thing that traveling in the World is so happy that it makes departure day so sad. I haven't stayed long enough yet to be ready to go home. I don't know exactly how long that would be, but I suppose I'll just have to keep trying to figure it out. :thumbsup2

I've never had more fun with that costume. Now I'm plotting what to do for next year...

I told some folks on DIS that I think the perfect number of days at Disney would be 18 (or more). It usually takes me about 7 days to cover most of the parks with a down day or two thrown in there. Then I'd want 2-3 more days to devote to the pools, explore the resorts, get a massage, go shopping, etc. Then I need another 4 days to go back to the parks and see the really minor attractions and/or people watch and see the little shows. Then I'd use the final 4 days to go back to each park and hit the major attractions again. Any additional days would just be icing on the cake!

I love this plan!!!!!

This is now my goal.......:cloud9:

It's nice to know there are other devoted DIS fans out there!! The DIS folks I told that to originally thought I was crazy...they said after a week at Disney they were ready to go home...can you believe that?? :rotfl2:

I can't imagine going from my resort to the airport with a genuine smile
on my face. Being ready to go home is what seems a little crazy to me!

Penultimate Day - Puffed French Toast Ahead!

Because I was headed for early morning entry to the Magic Kingdom with breakfast at the Crystal Palace, I didn’t have to allow time to eat before leaving my room to walk to the Monorail. I did make a fabulous cup of strong coffee and drank it as I got ready to go. I’ll drink the coffee at the Crystal Palace because coffee and breakfast go together, but I needed an actual blast of caffeine to get the day started properly. The light gently grew brighter as I prepped to go while Stacy pumped up the energy on the flat screen. I spent a few moments out on my balcony, appreciating the view of the gardens and water.

Instead of going the short way to the GCH, I walked to the beach end of my building and stepped out into a pristine and softly beautiful day. I don’t know if there was some “I’m sad to go home so everything looks even more wonderful than usual" effect at work, or if the morning was really so much more beautiful than the others, but I enjoyed this sunny walk the most of all my amblings down the beach during my stay.

I walked through the gardens in the lobby, stopping to take a picture of a cel I had been admiring. I have a t-shirt with this image so was tickled to find the inspiration art here.

I had a lovely Monorail glide to the Magic Kingdom and spent some time enjoying the quiet streets and taking pictures of the early morning park before heading over to breakfast.

There were some special seasonal statues in the hub of the characters in Halloween wear:

The Crystal Palace beckoned...

There is always a hubbub and a wait at the CP, so after I checked in at the podium I walked around the area and took some pictures while waiting for
my table to be ready. It was just a few minutes before I was heading in to breakfast deliciousness.

I have my favorite foods at the CP, and always hit up the Mickey Waffle station (I eat the ears first), the puffed French Toast (oh delightful sugar-cinnamon coated puffy tenderness), bacon, sausages, fruit and cheesy potatoes along with the smoked salmon, biscuits and pastries. It was only sad that I could fit in only so much even with careful pacing and planning.

Pluto was super excited about the food and decorations...

I waddled out of the CP and took the long way around the hub to the Tomorrowland rope drop. Mickey and Minnie, the welcoming hosts as usual:

I was planning on starting the day zooming through space, but SM was down so I picked up a fast pass for later and rode Buzz a few times instead. I rode Winnie the Pooh as had become my 10:30 tradition (ever since winning two dream FPs at that precise time there) and then headed over to BTM.

It was significantly more crowded today and lines were already building up past my willingness to wait so I decided to use my FP for Space Mountain, pick up another one and then head back to the resort for pool time. I had a fireworks timed reservation at California Grill for the evening, so figured I could come back in the late afternoon to finish up my time at the MK before dinner to bid farewell to favorites like the TTA and Splash Mountain.
I walked through Fantasyland to get back to Tomorrowland.

After spacing out, I went back down Main Street to the exit, taking pictures of the pumpkins lining the storefronts along the way.

Whenever I left the MK I always had a little debate with myself about which form of transportation I wished to use to return to the Poly. If the launch was in sight or at the dock, I'd usually take the water route, but today I wanted to enjoy the Monorail a little bit more and have a few more times of standing clear of the doors. I only wish that we had as many public transportation options a short walk from my front door at home!

It wasn't "I'm sad to be going home" that made everything look better because it looks amazing to me now! Can you believe I've never been to WDW during Halloween season? I can't wait to see the decorations!!!!:yay:

The best part is that everything will look even bigger and shinier when you're there!
You are going to have a fantastic time.

Amen to that!!

Of course, in their defense, they are commando folks who do the dawn to close type of touring...that would definitely wear me out, too. I used to be like that but now I ENJOY my trips instead of 'gotta get my $'s worth'...

Your pics from the Poly look soooo serene!! Gorgeous!

CP sounds YUM! I haven't eaten here yet, but I could eat some of that French Toast now.

Seriously, your photos are amazing. I hope you enjoy taking them as much as we like looking at them! :3dglasses

And you have completely whetted my appetite for the Halloween party! CAN'T. WAIT. FOR SEPTEMBER!

That morning was SO SPECTACULAR!! I could have stayed in that crystalline moment all day.

I'm so hooked on the Puffed French Toast that I haven't even been able to branch out as far as Chef Mickey's!

I do love seeing the World through a viewfinder. When I went to Disneyland in February it rained cats and dogs (or is that mice and chipmunks?) and I wasn't set up to use the camera in those kinds of conditions. I so missed it during the hours I had to keep it tucked away.

September, baby! We are going to have so much fun that no one will believe our trip reports! :woohoo:

So, so beautiful, and so completely peaceful! Wish I was there right now. I love your closeups of the pumpkins. You're going to have so much fun in Sept., I just know it! Yours and girlbombs TR's will be a blast to read this fall.
