OK, I'm making a book from 3x5 note cards, gonna take em to Kinko's and have em spiral bound, but I want to make sure I have everything. The sections are as follows (in no particular order):
Phone #'s Parks (each park is divided into sections)
Flight Information Musts
Caribbean Beach Info Skips
Daily Itineraries Pressed Penny Locations
To Buy For Lists Secrets
CM comments list Hours
Priority Seating resies Others:
Minature Golf info Hours
Pressed Penny Locations

Can anybody think of anything I might have missed? Something that I'll need?

Thanks guys!

Hi Keebles. Welcome to the Dis:earsboy: Have you seen a publication called The Passporter? It's a book with pages and pockets made for the kind of info you're putting on cards. I don't know what Kinko's charges and how much work it's going to be to get all that stuff together, but you might take a look at the Passporter book before you go to all the trouble. Enjoy your trip:earsboy:

Thanks Micca! I know about Passporter, but I wanted something much smaller with our info and I wanted all of us to have one.

Looks comprehensive to me:earsboy: Do you have the hours for the night time shows & parades? Might come in handy in the event of last minute changes in plans. Have fun:earsboy:

Yeah, got those too...was going to do best locations for parades and fireworks, but so many people have such different opinions on which location is best, I'd thought we'd wing it. Besides, my sister is not the type to sit and wait 2 hours just to see a parade.

I was going to make little cards of the layouts of the airports, but Memphis and Atlanta don't really have as detailed maps as MCO does. I did take the seating charts of the planes and put a red dot on our seats and printed those.

I had lots of first-timers in the group I took last month, so I also included a transportation page. Explained bus system, where the monorail goes, how to get from one resort to anther resort since no direct buses, operating times for buses, other options when available (ferry, water taxi, etc.). My group found this VERY helpful. They'd have never found the water taxi from MGM to Epcot, and wouldn't have been able to get to our dinners at other resorts without the tips!

Also included a bit explaining hidden Mickey'sand pointed out a couple to get them started.

We went in December, so I also included info on the special events for the holidays.

My park pages also included suggestions for places to eat (counter service,sit-down, and snacks). We've been a lot and our family is constantly asking what we would suggest...so I just put it all on paper so they could have a handy reference.

HTH,
Katie

Katie,

Your planning pages sound very helpful. Would you perhaps share them with me? I was especially interested in the transportation, where to eat recommendations and the hidden mickeys sound fun too.

Katie: I , too would be interested in your transportation page.

Will be happy to share, but don't know how to upload them, or have anywhere to do that. Will email them to you...just PM me your email address and I'll send them on. It's in Microsoft Word 2000 format (Microsoft Office 2000) so hope you've got that. Let me know if you want the whole thing (LARGE file--2.43 MB) or just a smaller section.

I put it together like a book--regular paper, turned sideways and folded in half. Pages as sending will not be in correct order for printing, but are in the order so that same topic pages are together. If you want a printable version later (print, double-sided, then stapled in middle) I can tell you how to rearrange it for printing.

I checked in our entire family (9 rooms) since I was the trip coordinator and they were all under my name, assigned their rooms (so the right ones connected, etc), and got the front desk to give me keys to every room so I could put out their welcome gift baskets (one per couple, plus one for each child), turn on the heat (cold day in December!), and turn on the lights...lots more welcoming to come into a well-lit room that's already nice and toasty :) This book was on the bed beside the welcome baskets, along with an itenerary in calendar format. Let me know if you're interested in that, too.

And if anyone knows how to upload this where everyone can see it at their will, please tell me how!

Katie, instead of e-mailing me a copy of your book would you just adopt me into your family? I'm really nice and my kids aren't too bad either. Put us down for two connecting rooms... :teeth:

Well, you'd have to talk to my parents-in-law about that! You see, I talked everyone into the trip so was told "well, you picked it, you plan it! besides, you go so often you know everything about it!" So plan it I did, with a hidden agenda! If they have a fabulous time, they'll want to do it again!! Heh, heh! Best part...when it's whole family trips like that, my in-laws pick up the tab!! :bounce:

So to guarantee the fabulous time I made sure every need was met and had lots of surprises for them. The paid for the rooms, yes, but I put together the gift baskets as my personal "welcome to my happy place" gift. Guaranteed my own pixie dust, I guess you could say!! :wizard: Everyone was so pleased with them, as they were all different, specifically planned for each person, and with a Disney bent they thought was cool, even though noone else is a Disney nut like me and DH. Made sure they had lots of information so they could plan their days. Emailed them tips/tricks/menus ahead of time to review. Sent them a package of maps with our itenerary 2 weeks prior so they could familiarize themselves with the place and get an idea of what they were in for. Picked out new/different restaurants for this crowd that were sure to please/impress. Used every discount I could to help save them money, even buying a Disney Dining Experience membership to save on our meals (so glad we're still FL residents!) Packed our hospitality suite with snacks, brought Christmas decorations so everyone would be in the spirit, and spent most of my time being "cruise director" rather than hitting my favorites. Which was ok, since my stated goal was to make them have such a good time that the whole-family trip becomes an annual event! (Of course planning to make every 2nd or 3rd one a trip to Disney!)

:cool1: It worked! They had such a good time they all went in on a Mickey watch they presented to me at our good-bye dinner! And, I'm now planning a week at the beach for 18 this summer! And was designated family trip planner for life :) (Yay! Lots of headaches, yes, but I also get to guarantee we do stuff I like!) They actually said "If you'll plan it, we'll pay for it!" Woo hoo!!!!!! That's all I needed to hear!

Of course, my DH now thinks I like my computer more than him, as I do tend to obsess over the details....but he had a good time, too, so he's not too jealous! And we're hoping to take ourselves and our 2 kids, and maybe half the group (his parents, brother, SIL, niece & nephew) back in the fall! Probably not a freebie, though (darn!) but still wanting to go!

Katie
