It was inevitable

Disney will probably end up having to eliminate the use of bikes in all locations and walking in only designated areas.

I'm happy knowing nothing about this field of the law. There are uniform standards for roads etc, however, and claiming the sidewalk was separated from the road "by a thin strip of grass" doesn't strike me as saying WDW did much of anything wrong. All the sidewalks in my neighborhood meet this description. I'm about to go to dinner where there is no grass between the sidewalk and the road.

The whole thing is just sad.

Losing a child has got to be the worst thing ever. What a tragedy. :sad2:

I'm surprised it took this long. I'm wondering where this will go next.

I agree. I truly feel for the family and cant imagine what they must be living through.

Any skepticism on my part is directed at the sad state of my profession.

I hear ya, the lawsuit was inevitable but the pain that family must be in is terrible.

This is so sad, I really feel for the parents...but I have to wonder, where were the parents? There is NO WAY I would let my child out of my sight when on vacation...especially in a place so big.

I cannot agree with you more.

I just do not understand how someone wishes to cash in on the death of their child. It is not that one needs money for ongoing medical treatment of a child that survived but will be in need and their lives will never be the same.

If they wanted to sue Disney to "teach" them a lesson and donate any monies awarded to a charity then I can see the lawsuit. I hope I will never be placed in such a position, but personally I think it just would be distasteful to sue.

It is the same as suing a doctor who has malpractice insurance. It is not teaching him/her anything. The insurance company pays off and the doctor continues to work.
