It was all started by a towel...

It appears that DS has outgrown at least 7 pairs of the shorts I had planned to bring to WDW.

I went to Nordstrom and found 4 more, and one pair at Dillard's. NONE of them on sale, of course. :headache:

I went to Rack and bought him 2 that look ridiculous - those will have to go back.

I found some sport sandals for myself - hopefully they will be comfy.

I managed to add 2 more nights to my 2010 ressie this morning. I still need 4 more, so I suppose I will be calling every morning for the next 4 days.

My stye refuses to go away. I was REALLY hoping not to have it surgically removed, but it sure looks like that's where I am headed. :sad2: I guess it could still magically disappear before Friday, but since it has been there for 17 days I kind of doubt that it will spontaneously resolve.

This 2010 thing is tedious. :headache:
But I did add one more night, and I modified off the first night, which we decided we didn't need. Seems like a waste of points to fly in late on a Thursday. We might as well go early Friday and stay another full day at the end.

I think I have decided that DS will just have to get by on the shorts he has. He may actually have enough. If not, DH will end up doing laundry at some point so he can toss some of DS's shorts in.

I did find 3 more shirts and some new swim trunks for DS yesterday, so he should be in fine shape for the trip.

I have a $20 Amazon gift card that we will use to buy a new camera strap for DH. Not as good as a $439 lens, but hey, better than nothing!

Ugh.
DS is sunburned.

He is VERY, VERY pale. We went swimming yesterday and I used some spray sunscreen on him. It is now painfully clear which spots I missed on his arms and shoulders. :sad2:

The mention of a rash guard went over like a lead balloon. But I think we may have to consider it. We are definitely NOT going to be in the sun today, so we might as well go look for a rash guard. We have been to a water park in the past and he didn't burn, but I am a little concerned about Blizzard Beach. I am absolutely sure we will be using regular lotion sunscreen from now on instead of the spray.

My three boys use Under Armor shirts when they swim. They like them more than the rash guard shirts we had.

Thanks! I will see what we can find.
I got him a rash guard with SPF 40 at the mall, but he may not like it. He hasn't tried it on yet. He was not thrilled with the idea, but I told him I won't make him wear it all the time.

Apparently I will be traveling to WDW in a handbasket. :headache:

I was in the sun on Tuesday and now I have a rash. It was either the sun, the sunscreen, or the antibiotics I am taking for my eye. At any rate, I can NOT wear the shirt for photos at AKL with this RASH! It's not getting any better, so I went BACK to the mall yesterday and bought emergency shirts in case we have to make a substitution.

I am having surgery on my eyelid in an hour. I looked up the procedure online. BIG mistake. Now I am petrified. Not sure I want to do this. BUT I have this huge, UGLY, red lump on my lower eyelid. It makes people stare. :scared:

It seems like I am absolutely falling apart. We leave THREE WEEKS from tomorrow and I am FALLING APART! :scared1: This is definitely NOT GOOD. :sad2:

Elizabeth - if your fingers still work, please let us know how it went today. I don't think you are falling apart. That would be my department as I start yet another year on this earth! ;)

Thanks, Janet & Elin!

Definitely not a fun procedure, but I am doing OK. Now we'll just have to wait and see how it heals. The Dr. said to expect a permanent lump from scar tissue, and expect discoloration for awhile. And another month of doxycycline, so if that rash is something to do with the sun and the medication it isn't going to get better. Blah.

 Here's hoping there will be a huge improvement over the next three weeks!

Thanks, Elin! It actually doesn't hurt today, and the purple has diminished. Now I just have swelling. Lots of swelling.

I have some errands to run, but maybe I will wait until tomorrow and see if it looks any better.

In trip planning news...

We have decided not to bring our entire stash of trading pins. It was kind of a pain to deal with the pins in our home airport last year. I have decided this year to just bring about 50 pins and a lanyard in a sandwich bag. We will trade a couple of days, but the rest of the days we'll leave the lanyards in the room and concentrate on touring.

I am going to focus on laundry today and make sure DS is all set. I am wearing a groove in the road to the mall.

DH still hasn't made a decision about the new camera strap, so hopefully he will sort that out so I can order it if I need to.

THREE WEEKS TO GO! :dance3:

You are so funny! I love that other people act just me. Makes me feel normal or at least abnormal with others:grouphug:! Let me see if I got this right.....You added six days because friends were coming..they canceled, but you are still going for the extra 6 days?!?! LOL..Truly, this is EXACTLY what I would have done:thumbsup2.

My husband doesn't understand that you can't shorten a Disney vacation, even if plans change, you can ONLY make it longer. I mean, geez, I wouldn't want to be the cause of Disney needing a government bailout. :scared: The weight of that on my shoulders would be debilitating:sad1:! And all the planning that goes into each day there.....if you cut a day, you ruin months of obsessive planning, each day precisely interlocked with every other and truth be told the cost of the medication and counseling that it would take for me to readjust would be a much higher price to pay.

Keep posting!!
Brigitte

Welcome, Brigitte! :)

Yes, I think you have a pretty solid grip on the situation. :rotfl: Our friends didn't cancel, they just never booked. Which is fine. We did a 16 night stay last year and we had a blast, so going for 14 nights this year is good. And no, I would NEVER cut a trip short unless something truly catastrophic happened. And then I would book a "do-over" to make up for it. ;)

We are booked for 12 nights at WDW next year, and we'll pop over to US/IOA for 2 or 3 nights at the end.

YAY!! :cool1: 20 days sounds like the trip is actually getting close!

I spent yesterday doing laundry. Blah.

Today I will probably go back to the mall to return stuff I bought Thursday that doesn't fit.

Hard to tell about my eye today - since I just woke up it is puffy.

I ordered DH's camera strap - it should be here in the next 5 days or so.

Despite not being in the sun at all since Tuesday, I still have a bit of a rash. I think it is time for that rash to GO AWAY.

19 days until departure!! :dance3:

I went to the mall yesterday. Returned 3 shirts, bought one more. The shirt I bought is really cute - I think I like it better than the one I already have to wear for pics. DS tried on the "back up" shirt I bought for him to wear in the pic. Neither one of us really liked it. So that will go back.

DH mentioned that he wanted to go look at shorts, so after I got home from the mall we went BACK out. He found some shorts & some socks, I found 2 more polos for DS. I am pretty sure we have the photo wardrobe decided now. I hope. ;) I am conflicted about returning the original shirt I bought for the pics. I like it, but I doubt I will wear it very often. Hmm... Luckily Macy's has a 180 day return policy. I can take the shirt to WDW and if I don't wear it I will return it.

The eyelid looks pretty good this morning! There is still a lump, but it is smaller than it was and the swelling has really gone down. There might be a little discoloration, but not anything like it was before! It would be FABULOUS if the lump continued to shrink, but I am not sure that is possible. On my next trip to the mall I suppose I should look for some industrial strength under-eye concealer. The kind that won't melt off at WDW in August.

There really isn't any sort of planning or prepping going on right now. :confused3

I will pack on Sunday, which is mandated by the Packing Rules, covered earlier in this report. To recap, the Packing Rules state that all luggage must be packed in full at the 12 Day mark. Packing must be done in accordance with the Master Packing List for the season in which the trip will occur. The only items not bound by the 12 Day rule are items that must be used on the morning of departure.

I decided since I ALREADY have a rash there is no need to stay out of the sun, so I am enjoying the pool this week. And next week. The week after that I will probably be too busy dropping off and picking up kids (DS and my little charge) from camp to lounge at the pool.

DS MUST have a haircut. He looks like he has a haystack on his head. Not in a good way.

Zazu needs his next round of kitten vaccines.

I also need a haircut, color, and a pedicure. But not now. I want to wait until the last minute to have my toes done so they will look good the whole 2 weeks at WDW.

I wore my new sport sandals yesterday - they are nice! I think they will work for WDW. The Shoe Bag is going to be full. And heavy. Sigh. Maybe I will have to check 5 bags. Time will tell. ;)

I just checked the tracking for DH's new camera strap. It is in transit with a scheduled delivery of next Monday. Hello? Since when is FedEx slower than the plain post office? It's coming from New Jersey, not New Zealand! Some things simply boggle my mind.
