I was one of those people who bought my tickets last week when Southwest opened their schedules for June. I wasn't thrilled to be paying $100 more per ticket than we usually pay but I wasn't taking the chance of not getting the flights I wanted. Well, since then I have been checking my flights every day, several times a day when I have a free minute to see if my flights become "available" at lower prices. Well, on Friday they each went down $10, not a big deal but I rebooked at the lower price anyway. I can use that $20 credit for my flight in October. Then today, SW gave me a great Valentine's Day gift - our return flight was now available at a lower price. I quickly rebooked and am getting a $74 refund :dance3:!!! Both times I checked our flights early in the morning (between the hours of 6:30 and 8:00). So in less than a week we have saved nearly $100 on our flights :hippie:! Gotta LUV Southwest!!! :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

That flight was initially booked at the "refundable anytime" rate so I will get a refund of the difference. But if it goes down again, I will only get a credit on the difference since it is now a "fun fare" or something. The refundable anytime fares are the most expensive but that was all that was available when the schedules opened.

Last year and this year I got better deals on Delta, from California. This year $288 round trip (includes taxes/etc.) in mid-June. Could have got them for $224 apiece, but I did not like the early (0600 hours) return flight time. Thes e were Internet rates from three days ago.

When I travel in-State, or to nearby states, Southwest is generally cheaper.

Keep checking Dings too! Just two days before we left on Jan. 30th, SW finally gave a Ding for PHL to MCO. I was so excited!!! Now we have a credit waiting for our next trip in November.

I'm very curious as to how you got that price! Where in CA are you flying from? We're going next year mid June and keep comparing this June for a budget idea. We haven't seen anything that low going into Orlando. We found that price on Airtran going SFO to Tampa, but the best price into Orlando was $350! Tell me your secret!! PLEASE :D

When you rebook, do you cancel the existing reservation and then make a new one using the cancel credit, or do you modify your current reservation (not sure if the latter is even possible). Being the worrying type, I'd hate to cancel and in the brief time it'll take to make the new reservation have the better fare become unavailable. :confused3

Read this..

I open 2 windows go all the way on the canceled flight right up to the point of canceling.

Then in the second window I book the
Ding right up to paying ( if this takes to long you might lose your Ding fare they go fast).

I then confrim the cancel you get a credit number .
Then go back and put the credit number in to pay for the
Ding.

I have this to under a minute and have not been shut out yet. I have heard of people canceling ine flight only to find the
Ding is no longer availible and their flight went from a $120 to $49 ( Ding ) to $270 only fare left in about the 5 minutes it took them to see the Ding go and cancel their flight and try to get back to the Ding.

some one gave this info to me and I am just passing it along
