It’s EXHILARATING in the BIG BLUE WORLD! *NEW VIDEO- EPCOT DAY* 1/22

Pluto wears moccasins?
April 13

So what do you think: Mexico or Canada?

Well, I have to keep you in suspense just a little bit longer because we stopped for some photo opportunities first!

Its the CIRCLE OF LIIIIIIIIFE. There was a line for private photo-ops, so we made due with the Lauren-Sarah-less variety.

Sarah was wondering why the fur on the lions was green. Didn't they have any golden colors?

Yo. What up?

I'm cool. (That's my story, and I'm sticking to it!)

She is really GOOFY.

It's almost 2 months later, and I am STILL debating about these ears!

They are Donald, which are awesome, but I just don't know how I feel about wearing ears around the parks. I feel like they would get in the way. Hmmm... Decisions, decisions.

Obligatory Flower and Garden shot!

Monorail track, with a bit of Spaceship Earth, and some cool bushes, a pretty sky, and a random family.

See? As advertised!

MONSTERS! AHHHH!

MORE MONSTERS! AHHHH! AHHHH!

Crowd shot.

As you might have been able to tell from the last picture, our first stop on our World tour was Canada!

I had to take a picture of this lovely sign.

I will be eating at Le Cellier in exactly 2 months and 4 days from today!!!!!!

For once in my life, I know exactly what I am going to order. Cheddar Cheese soup, and the mushroom filet.

Crisis just realized. I don't know about dessert yet. Any suggestions?

Oh, Canada. How I love thee.

Just warning you, I became a bit more lax in pictures as the day went on. Isn't that the truth though? You always have more pictures from your first country.

We explored the shops and found some moose-endise.

Awww, isn't he sweet?

Sarah is rocking the plaid. And a FRUMP FACE. Seriously, just saw that!

Poor Moose.

Well, we must all make sacrifices for the greater good.

Of course we tried on some hats. Sarah is so adorable!

DYING of cuteness at this point.

Pluto in moccasins (!!!!!!) Does it get any better?

After exploring the Canadian shop, we went in search of the Canada garden marketplace. I wanted to see if they had samples of Cheddar Cheese soup. We couldn't find it, so we decided to move on to the UK. (If you know anything about the food options at the Flower and Garden Festival, you might have a clue why this little adventure did not end in our favor :rolleyes1)

I can't remember if these were in Canada or the UK, but Sarah is really into swords.

I prefer toy soldiers.

I love all of the little details. Like this random, awesome street sign.

My favorite time period in history is all Tudor and Elizabethan England, so I got really excited when I saw this.

One of my favorite stores is the tea shop! I love how it smells in there. I thought about getting some more wonderland tea, as I am almost out at home, and some honey spoons, but never did. Again, on the shopping list for August.

On our way out, we ran into some friends!

HOW RUDE!!!
April 13

Sarah was excited to meet the plant variety of her favorite pals.

I should have kept a Pooh Bear-sighting count going.

Look- Sarah grew a balloon!

Friends!

After saying good-bye to our pals, we headed on to our next adventure: France!

What a lovely couple.

This is probably the closest I will ever get to the Eiffel tower. Not that I mind when I'm in Disney!

This is where Sarah becomes the most adorable 13-year old ever. She was completely immersed in the magic and it was fabulous!

We were walking along, and spotted this:

She then said, quite seriously, "Aww! Someone was painting down there!"

LOVE.

My best friend is much classier than I, and really appreciates French art. This picture always reminds me of her.

Beast is such a gentleman.

As we got to France, we spotted their Garden Marketplace and decided to take a look.

The Caramelized Peaches with Rosemary looked interesting, so we decided to share one.

I wish I had an after-shot because Sarah did not look this happy after trying it. She was NOT a fan. I wouldn't have had an entire bowl, but I thought it was tasty. I was a little unsure after my first bite, but surprisingly, the aftertaste was really good! I thought it was so strange that I liked the aftertaste better than the actual taste.

I wish I had more pictures from France, but alas, I don't. Apparently, we decided to just keep moving on. WITHOUT EVER ACTUALLY GOING INTO FRANCE. I don't know what is wrong with us. We might need psychiatric help.

Morocco!

Playing tiny little drums.

Cool sign.

Disney raised us right. When we see a lamp, we have to rub it!

Sadly, no genie.

Looking at all of the shiny things.

About 5 hours in. And still smiling!

As we were leaving the Bazaar, we turned the corner and saw a random line. We asked what everyone was waiting for, and were surprised to have just stumbled upon Jasmine and Aladdin!!!! YAY! I was so excited and practically hopped into the line.

Let me preface this by saying, this was one of the oddest line-waiting experiences I have ever had. Emotions ranged from Cute! to Huh? to HOW RUDE!!!! (metaphorical points to you if you just read that in Stephanie's voice)

While we were waiting, I talked to a little girl in front of us about her sparkly Princess shoes. She was more than happy to chat about them!

CUTE!

One of the women in front of us began telling us about her trip. She was talking about how yesterday they were at the Magic Kingdom. And then said this sentence, "Yesterday, we were at Disney but decided to come here today."

HUH?

I didn't have the heart to explain.

THEN, someone else asked me what everyone was waiting for. I happily replied, "Jasmine and Aladdin!"

She LAUGHED and walked away.

HOW RUDE!!!!

I don't understand some people.

First of all, how could you not like Jasmine and Aladdin?

Really, there is no second of all.

Anyway, eventually I got out of that crazy line and we met some royalty!

By the way, Aladdin says that his favorite food is baklava.

On the way out, we saw this little guy. We spent 30 seconds wondering if he was real or not.

Disney thinks of everything, so we really weren't sure!

On the way to Japan, I took some beautiful pictures.

It was a gorgeous day!

Before we went to everybody's favorite Japan destination (Mitsukoshi) we wanted to try FRUSHI!

We got an order to share. It was DELICIOUS. I wish we had gotten back before leaving because it was seriously amazing. So sweet, fresh, and goooooood.

Before we left the stand, I may or may not have grabbed a few packets of disposable chopsticks to take home. Free souvenirs!

This was my Mitsukoshi experience (recorded in stream-of-consciousness):

Walk in. See lots of Japanese manga/Hello Kitty merch. Glance around, keep moving. Tell Sarah that Ill meet her outside, since I know it will take her longer to go through it. Consider buying chopsticks. Decide not to because I already have a pair that I bought last trip. See Pick-a-Pearl. Mental note to do that in August. And buy a setting ahead of time on Ebay. See candy. Go crazy. Purchase candy. Go outside and wait for Sarah. While waiting, update journal and reapply sunscreen. Wait for Sarah. Finally Sarah comes out. Apparently, she has been looking for me inside. Oops.

The end.

Oh, and here is a picture of all of the candy.

Gotta stock up for home!

Next- do we indulge in Kaki gori or The American Dream?

I'm enjoying your sister trip trip-report!! It looks like a wonderful time was had.
I love your sense of humor.
Thank you for sharing your memories.

People are so strange sometimes. What else would you be waiting for randomly in a Disney park other than some of the characters!?

So this post used to be about Club Cool, but then I realized that we actually went to Club Cool twice...so you can find the update in a later post :)

SCHOOL BREAD
April 13

Though it was a very nice day, it was a tad warm walking around World Showcase. We were in the mood for a frozen treat!

First we considered Kaki Gori. We had it the last trip and all loved it!

We got into line, but decided against that particular treat. Knowing our clumsiness, it would not be easy to eat it while continuing to walk around the World. No doubt we would have Kaki Gori down our fronts by Germany.

Instead, we headed to America. The land of the free, home of the brave, and holder of the American Dream!

We got in line.

We waited.

And waited.

And waited some more.

I was so close to getting out of line. There was no shade and it felt so much warmer just standing still. There really weren’t that many in front of us, but the CMs were soooooo slow getting the food out. Plus, we were behind a group that was drinking around the world. I don’t know if this is common for this stand, or just a random day, but it took forever.

Plus, I get cranky when I am hungry.

Luckily, all was made right once I tasted this delicious concoction. It was smooth, sweet, and was very refreshing! This was something new for both of us, and even better, it was portable. I apologize: I was a bad DISer and failed to get a picture of the deliciousness.

We continued our tour slowly, just enjoying the sights. We ended up passing by Italy and Germany. Both of us were starting to get overwhelmed with everything. There is only so much the brain can process in one day! Not that we had a choice this time around, but I can fully see why Epcot is AT LEAST a 2 day park. On our August trip, we currently have 4 full days scheduled, with a number of additional afternoons and evenings. I am so excited that we will be able to say, “I think we’ll just do France and Morocco today.” Bliss.

We got to China and decided to explore.

We went and found a few puppet friends!

Rex’s distant cousin.

If you watch the Frump videos, you’ll know who this is…

Norman Junior-- the Deer!

Sarah and I both love watching the Frump videos. They are so clever!

We walked around the pavilion, but didn’t head into the store. Just outside the pavilion, we found a great bench to recharge, rest, and keep drinking our American Dream.

There was an evil bear nearby.

Sarah showed off one of her Mitsukoshi purchases: a fan!

Tired legs.

Our view!

It was such a peaceful 20 minutes or so. We just sat and relaxed while the rest of the “World” kept turning around us.

The architecture in China is amazing.

There are so many different types of green plants. I have no idea if they are native to China or not, but I found it very interesting that there was such a wide variety.

Enjoying the afternoon.

While we were waiting, we realized that Mulan was scheduled to arrive soon! She was scheduled at 3:50 and it was currently about 3:40. One problem was that we had no idea where she would be!

I looked around, but didn’t see any visible line. I saw a photopass photographer, and he said that Mulan meets up beneath the overhang in the pavilion. So we left our little bench and made our way over!
We waited about 25 minutes. Luckily, we were under an overhang so we didn’t get blasted by the sun.

While waiting in line, I saw one of the saddest things I’ve ever seen in Disney. There was a girl sitting in line, quite obviously waiting by herself. She was about 10 or 11, so I thought that maybe Mom or Dad was off getting a treat and would be back soon. I was so saddened when after a little bit, I discovered that her Mom was actually standing just across the way, on her phone, ignoring her daughter. The girl looked so sad just by herself. Her Mom even came over and yelled at her for sitting and not moving in the line before going back to her spot. I thought to myself, why come to Disney to have time together when you are just going to ignore her? Great memories.

While we were waiting, I saw glimpses of the acrobatic show going on.

Sarah chose just the perfect page for Mulan’s signature.

Pretty soon we were meeting the Princess herself!

She was lovely and we had a great conversation. I asked her what it felt like to win her battle and she exclaimed, “Well, I didn’t think I actually WON anything!”

At one point, Sarah mentioned, “They popped out of the ground like daisies!” She replied, without a beat and a very serious face, “That’s what Mushu always says!!”

After meeting Mulan, we headed in to see the China movie. I have to say, I think the lobby area outside of the movie is such an undiscovered spot. I never knew that such a wonderfully, air conditioned, area existed! I will definitely remember this for resting mid-day.

We both liked the movie. I think our favorite part was all of the ice castles. As much as it was definitely annoying to have to continue to stand throughout the whole movie, it was very cool to see a movie in the round. I tried sitting for a bit (Epcot is hard on the feet!) but eventually gave up and enjoyed the movie as it was meant to be seen.
After wandering through the shop, we headed out of China and into Norway!

First, we found a bathroom and then went to KRINGLA BAKERI!

It had been, like, an hour and a half since getting our last treat, so we must remedy that situation!

I had only one goal in mind and that was SCHOOL BREAD!

Sarah wanted to try the troll horn, so we got one of each.

We also got some waters. Hydration!

I was only a tad bit excited about school bread.

Sarah was just a tad bit excited about the troll horn.

The only thing I was sad about was that I had to cut it in half.

Sarah really liked the troll horn, but I didn’t. Greedy Lauren wanted all of the school bread. But I shared. Because I’m a good big sister.

All gone!

I want more school bread. Right now. Mmmmmmmm....

The "Donald" Update
April 13

Next stop—DONALD! (I mean, Mexico.)

Before we get onto the update, as today is appropriately June 9th, I think we should take a moment and sing HAPPY BIRTHDAY to everyone’s favorite duck!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU
HAPPY BIRTHDAY DEAR DONALD
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU!

It was now the moment. I was going to meet HIM.

My boy. My guy. My favorite furry friend.

There was only one problem. I couldn’t find him!

My poor Donald was lost somewhere in Mexico without me!

First, I checked outside. Nope.

Then, I looked in the pavilion. Nope.

I was about to gather a search party, but instead I asked a CM who helpfully sent us outside to the “ruins”.

My excitement level was at about a million out of ten.

HERE HE COMES!

Donald came out about 3 minutes after getting into the relatively short line, so it wasn’t a long wait.

Muy frumpy.

Almost there!!!!

HELLO DONALD! You are so cute!

Overall, it wasn’t the greatest character meeting. I didn’t even get a hug. But looking back, it was awesome because I met DONALD DUCK!!!!

After meeting Donald, the next logical stop was to meet all of the Caballeros!

I took this picture before going on the ride…

And then bought the shirt after the ride!!!

Hello, my long lost friends!

Picture whilst on the boat.

FIESTA HOY!

Poor Donald.

He always gets the rough end of the stick.

Viva Donald. You betcha.

These caballeros need a talking to. That is no way to treat Donald.

ADIOS AMIGOS!

I loved this ride. It is so cheery, and of course, it has DONALD.

DONALD. DONALD. DONALD. DONALD. DONALD. DONALD.

By the way, “Donald” was mentioned 18 times during this update. And now 19.

Festique con Beverly
April 13

After exiting the ride, with big smiles, we wandered around the pavilion. It is like a whole other world in there. It is so dark. You really feel like you’ve left Florida for a little while!

After wandering for a while, I just had to buy that Caballeros shirt. The CM at the register was great! He was on the international college program and talked a little about his experience. He seemed to be having a good time!

Sarah is taking her first year of Spanish in school, so I thought it would be neat if she could come back with a new phrase to say. He was more than happy to oblige!

She learned to say “Festique el cumpleanos de mi Hermana en Mexico” – I celebrated my sister’s birthday in Mexico!

On the way out of the pavilion, we decided to stop and tryout the Mexican food stand. Since they were small, we each got a pork taco.

YUM. These were so good! Great flavors.

We had now completed our tour of the World (minus France, Italy, and Germany…) and decided to head back to the Future!

Our first stop was Mousegears to buy a second backpack. Our single backpack was getting heavy with every addition. We were both much happier having our own.

Next, we decided to take a little trip to Mars! Orange side all the way. The wait was just long enough to watch the movie. I was the Commander, all the way on the right side. I don’t remember what Sarah was, but she almost crashed the shuttle because she didn’t press the button! The computer took over, thankfully, and we made it safely home.

On the way out of the command center, we heard someone calling out to us. It turns out, Sarah had dropped her new Winnie the Pooh pin! Thank you, kind people!

After Mission Space, we decided to continue the space journey on Spaceship Earth. I let Sarah take control and she chose all of the environmentally friendly options.

Next, we returned to Club Cool for a second spin. We had stopped there earlier on our way to the World, but I was only able to sample some much needed ginger ale at the time.

Being on the DIS, obviously I had heard of the wonder that is “Beverly”. I felt that it was best to let Sarah be the first to sample it!

Enjoy :rotfl2:

I believe we both sampled the majority of the selections. I, however, chose to avoid Beverly. I’ll share that experience with Mama in August.

***Don't miss the other 3 updates made today and the 2 made yesterday!***

Illuminations: Table side!
April 13

We decided to head back to Canada (coming full circle!) in search of the Canadian food booth. STILL couldn't find it, so we decided to share a Dole Whip instead!

It was a little baby cup, which was perfect as a little snack to share.

It was so strange having Dole Whip in Epcot, but it was very tasty as always!

Continuing our goal of exploring different food options, we decided to check out England. (Since we were eating and walking, I completely forgot to take pictures. Sorry!) I had the tomato and mozzarella, which was very flavorful. It was literally a slice of seasoned tomato and a slab of mozzarella cheese. Cant go wrong there! Sarah decided to have the chocolate trifle. She declared it yummy!

We sort of wandered between England and Canada, just enjoying ourselves. Sarah was also stopping every CM she saw with pins. She became quite the pin trader!

After a bit of wandering, we finally asked a CM about the Canada booth. Turns out, it doesn't exist! Guess I was getting it confused with booths from the Food and Wine festival. Boo.

While we had been snacking a little here and a little there all day, we were ready to just sit with a full meal. After all, it was about 11am when we had last eaten a real meal and it was now about 8pm.

We decided on dinner at La Cantina. EXCELLENT choice, for many, many reasons.

I decided on Nachos, minus the beans, and Sarah had empanadas. (Again. No pictures. Wow, I was not on top of things!) I would definitely have those nachos again. Like right now.

While we were looking around for a table, we saw two ladies sitting at a table by the water. At that point, we just wanted to see if they wouldn't mind us sitting on the ground right next to them in the little corner. We just wanted a spot to sit. Instead, they offered us the other two seats at their table!!! AND they offered to let us stay with them through Illuminations!

WE GOT A WATERSIDE TABLE FOR ILLUMINATIONS!

AN HOUR BEFORE THE SHOW.

WHAT???????

The kindness of these ladies really meant a lot to us. And I think they liked seeing our excitement too :)

Our kind new friends were Joanne and Diane (I think?), a mother and daughter. They both live in Florida and just go to Disney for dinner whenever they'd like. Amazing! They say some evenings, the mood will just strike them and they'll head over to Epcot for dinner, stroll around Magic Kingdom...just another regular Saturday night!

We talked up until Illuminations. It was a wonderful conversation! They were so kind and had lots of Disney (and life!) info.

Before show pics...

Once Illuminations started, I was in awe. The fireworks were almost right on top of us! It was an incredible view. Just amazing. I think I teared up.

I tried the firework setting. These are the results:

Good thing I switched to another!

Note- I am almost positive that the majority of these fireworks pictures (or even all of them) are taken as is. No zoom. We were really that close!

This is my favorite!!!

WE GO ON!

We headed out with the masses. On the way out, we stopped in the Art of Disney store. Sarah's face was PRICELESS. She loves art, and she was in heaven. She found a $40 Winnie the Pooh print that she loved, but didn't have the money. If she saves her money, I offered to buy it for her in August. As for myself, I found a POCAHONTAS pin and two postcards-turned-cheap artwork.

Then we stopped for one last picture!

Once we got to the Port Orleans bus stop, we called home and chatted for a bit. Then we waited through 3 bus loads to get on the bus. Definitely wasn't our private bus from the night before!

Once we got home we found a PARTY going on! Cute!!!

We decided to soak our poor feet in the tub. That felt so good. I know I've said it before, but Epcot is really hard on the feet!

I'll spare you pics of our yucky, raw feet. I literally had lines on the tops of my feet from the edge of my slip-ons.

I went out to get some drinks using our mugs and a pizza to snack on/have for breakfast. I got held up a bit because I spilled one of the drinks in my bag. Great.

While I was gone, Sarah took pictures of all of the surprises that were left in our room!

A doggie is holding today's note!

Cindy!

Awwww!

Pam was an awesome mousekeeper!!!

My pins from the day!!!

Notice a pattern on that lanyard?? Just a few ducks.

Before bed, I went through receipts, organized my bag, and did miscellaneous stuff to get ready for Hollywood Studios in the morning! I think I was asleep about 1am. Good night!!!

Toy Story Mania!
April 14

Good morning! It is Sunday, April 14th and it is time to go to HOLLYWOOD!

I woke up around 7:30 and sleepily started to get ready. I did get about 6 ½ hours of sleep but the long (2) days were definitely catching up with me. I pulled Sarah out of bed about 7:45. She was not too eager to get out of bed. I tried to explain to her the insane importance of getting to HS early. We gots things to do, little girl!

We got a little sustenance into us by way of the leftovers of a pizza and some dry cereal and we left the room about 8:20 or so. As we walked up to the South Depot, we saw a very sad sight. The Hollywood Studios bus was pulling away. Sad.

I was a little disappointed because we were going to miss the welcome show, but at least we were still getting there relatively early.

After a short wait, we got the next bus and arrived at HS at 8:50. May I say that I love the helpful clocks that are on the buses. It makes it so easy to quickly jot down the time!

The Hollywood Tower Hotel lurks in the distance. Mwahahaha.

Obviously, we went straight to Toy Story Mania!

The FP return time was out to 11:20-12:20. After pulling the FPs, we rode Toy Story with a 30 minute posted wait. It was really only about 15 minutes. Don’t be scared by a high wait time posted early, or the line spilling out. Early waits don’t utilize the whole queue and it is misleading. Even better, we got to go down the 2 person gate. I didn’t know that you could love a stairwell, but I love that stairwell.

Are you ready for a tour of Toy Story Mania? Or at least, the queue?

“L” for LAUREN!

Andy has a wonderful taste in view master pictures!

The Emotions of Candyland: “Queen Frostine card! YES! I love this game!!!” (next turn) “Plumpy card. Candyland is stupid.”

Spin-art!

Funny. I could never get mine to turn out that cool. Probably because I would dump about 10 different colors in. It was more like mud-art.

Oh, no! Sarah, why are you sad?

She can’t find a green crayon! Don’t worry, dear, it’ll turn up.

I think this would be an awesome ceiling for a game room.

Who wants to build it for me?

What’s the monkey chow for?

For the monkeys of course!!!

Very good Andy. It looks just like him!

Good morning, happy girls!

Triple Word! Best square ever.

Hint. Qi and Za are both words.

Hello Rex!

And random guy from Carolina.

Best wallpaper ever!

Andy is a master carpenter! Tinker toy extraordinaire.

We got the Jessie car!

I won!

Toy Story Mania is so much fun! Plus, it lets my competitive side come out a little bit. No mercy. I broke those plates!

Woody wants to put me in JAIL!
April 14

***Don't miss my previous post about Toy Story Mania!!!***

After playing like toys in Andys room, it made sense to go MEET some toys in Andys room!

We headed across the way to meet Woody and Buzz! We got in line about 9:20.

First, we had fun with photo-ops.

Sarahs trapped! Help her Buzz!

It is 9:23 and the Stand-by line is up to 45 minutes. I dont know if that is accurate, but it certainly is a jump from 20 minutes prior!

The Claaaaaaaaw.

Random Mickey arm?

We had been waiting 10 minutes at this point. Still 45 minute stand-by on the other side of the street.

Pretty soon, it was time to meet Woody and Buzz! We waited only about 15 minutes total. Not bad at all!!!

Hugs!!!

Sarah showed them her Toy Story page. It has stickers of all of the characters. First, they counted how many Buzz stickers vs Woody stickers there were. Im happy to report that there were exactly 4 of each. Phew!

They enjoyed seeing a lot of their other friends, too!

Woody says, I see you on a sticker Buzz!

Plus, you can see the extra backpack that we bought on Saturday. Sarah loves it and still uses it!

Now things get interesting :)

Like any curious child, I asked Buzz what would happen if I pushed his button. Of course, I didnt wait for an answer! I pushed it and BUZZ FROZE.

I didnt even notice at first. It was so funny! Woody took pity on him and unfroze him quickly.

After that, I asked Woody, What would happen if I pulled your string?

Well, I didnt get a chance to try because Woody stared me DOWN.

I felt so teeny tiny!

He then pointed to his sheriffs badge. I think he was going to put me in JAIL!!!

He didnt end up putting me in jail (thank goodness!) and we got a wonderful picture! I think this is one of my all-time favorites!!!

Great update! Perfect timing my little one will not sleep tonight!

Wow I can't believe how fast the TSM FPs go so early! It definitely has the best ride queue. My arm is so tired by the end I end up trying the other one haha.

Great buzz & woody pictures. They are always a good character interaction and worth the wait. Glad you escaped jail, too funny!
