Island Tower at Polynesian Villas & Bungalows

The living space in the one and two bedroom villas looks so narrow in the photos. I wonder how the sq ft will compare to other resorts. These rooms appear smaller than RIV.
I hadn’t really noticed this until I saw your post; I reviewed the pictures/video and yes holy cow it looks narrow!! Maybe it was just the camera angle but yes really want to see details like sq feet, layouts, etc

I'm thinking the only way it would make sense to not have ANY 2BR S/P rooms in the booking engine would be if they were all lock-offs, and the only dedicated 2BR were TPV? Or else they are just holding inventory in reserve...

I can see why Disney would split them up for cash bookings. Looking at a random date (March 10th):

$2,121 = TPV 2BR

vs

$1,243 = TPV Studio
$1,543 = TPV 1BR
$2,786 = combined
They are probably holding some back in reserve. They know how big the initial declaration will be and possibly holding the inventory for the next 2 declarations back. Very similar to how VDH was done.

Maybe, but it's weird to me that they would hold back entire category/views. But I'm sure they know their yield management better than I do!

All of the Dedicated 2BRs are Theme Park View,
I would bet a whole bunch of my imaginary internet bucks that that’s either a mistake or an intentional holdback to try to sell the most expensive rooms first, and that it’s not reflective of the actual inventory.

They can’t have a whole side of the building that’s just studios.

Just read on Tikiman Unofficial Polynesian facebook page that model rooms may be open for DVC members to look at in October.

Anyone know if the models usually open before or after sales begin?

I don’t know the answer to when models open but I guarantee that sales will open before October.

Interesting, the models certainly appeared complete in the video! That looked to me like the SSR DVC facility, the backlit fake backdrops out the window reminded me of the ones from the Riviera model rooms.

Who's to say it's all going to be done by Dec 17 either. They may have floors that need finishing touches.

Interesting… do you think it’s either there or Disney Springs? Like, they’re not hiding it in a warehouse in Windermere.

They don't have any model units at SSR anymore. The whole space has been converted to offices. They probably built mock-ups on a sound stage like they did for the VDH walkthrough videos.

Oh … if it’s fake, is it out in California?

Really? I walked through one last year. Huh.

I watched WDWNT yesterday and laughed quite loudly as Tom stood there with a bear hat and loud/tacky duck tales shirt in a hotel room themed like Andy’s room from Toy Story and attacked the new Poly Tower and DVC by stating something to the affect of “This is what Disney theming is supposed to be!”…..

My wife and I agreed that we will not be taking directions from overgrown childless millennials whose lives are spent visiting theme parks 🤣

Yes…. some of us are adults who like peace and serenity…. We have real life children who live in our house with themed rooms and toys around the house that we have to pick up every day…. We don’t want to see that on vacation! 🤣

Not knocking people who want LOUD theming and overstimulation constantly…. it just doesn’t have to be the only option that qualifies as “real Disney”….

You can still buy fixed weeks at Riviera, so there is probably some chance they do it for the poly tower too.
Poly’s POS allows for fixed weeks so I would think that they would be avail in the tower.

If not (if only the now sold out original Poly points allowed for fixed weeks), then my Fixed Week Lake View would def go up in value.

But. If DVC is keeping the Tower in same association, which is all but confirmed, then the POS already allows for fixed weeks - why wouldn’t they offer them?

Real Disney means something different for everyone and I think it’s great that Disney gives us so many options.

It would be great if us Disney obsessed folks could embrace the idea of “great for someone, not for me/my family.” I actually like the tower rooms better than I expected to (still bummed about exterior design choices) but when I thought it wouldn’t be my taste at all, I chose to focus on “hey, if this makes it easier to get rooms at BCV or RIV or CFW for the next year or two, great!”

Similarly, I was briefly sad when I heard a leading contender for Beyond Big Thunder was a Coco themed ride similar to FoP— don’t love the movie (even though music is fun) and don’t like the FoP ride system…but then I was like “well, we’ll save park time/money not buying ILLs and hopefully it will make it easier to get on Tron and other rides we really enjoy!”
