I didn't know that changed. Last time I tried that (albeit 2 years ago or so), MS told me a had to book with outside points and then cancel the original. They said they weren't able to modify it that way since the home resort points were locked.

And I understand this can be done easily on your own as mentioned. But to me, I think the system should recognize when it's within the 7 month period and "unlock" the home resort points when modifying. Because at that point, it's no longer within the home resort period.

The problem is the room you are modifying is the same one you booked so it is being held in the modify process. Which, is what makes modifying less risky, because you don’t lose it if nothing you want to change is there

So, it wouldn’t work to unlock the points. And to clarify, MS can book those rooms for you assuming they are are the beginning or end of your trip.

They can’t simply unlock and rebook. I don’t think I made that part clear. But they have a way to achieve it that we don’t.

Even if you modify a home resort booking at 7 months to something else, it will keep the contract locked.

Personally, I am okay with it because as mentioned, if nights are available at beginning or end of your trip, then you use non home points to book, and cancel what you started with.

We're all such fools! If we'd all chipped in and bought Paul a cruise months ago, we could have avoided this needless waiting!
Lets just make him live at sea, I bet Poly tower charts would come out tomorrow if we did that. Sorry @Amy Krieger

I don’t know if I can afford a lifetime cruise for Paul though, I was kind of thinking a floating door would do and he can do his best impersonation of Rose from Titanic 😂

I say, we buy a mattress and put it on the back of one of the Friendship Boats and call it a day. That's probably somewhat close to the Magic at this point, right? That ship is coming up on 30 years.

Kinda sticks out like a sore thumb don’t it…
Overall I agree with your point. The height and interior design differences of the tower vs longhouses don’t really bother me much, yet I still wish Disney made more of an effort to make the exterior look like the original poly architecture. It’s just a shame that at the very least they didn’t try to make the roofs slightly more similar. Imagine VGF’s roof not being red like the rest of the resort? It just looks out of place. Standing at ground level and looking at the tower, you’d think the tower is an entirely separate resort from the Polynesian, but it is what it is.

Couldn't help but think of VDH in the context of DLH when reading this comment. Looks great, but definitely stands apart from rest of the legacy resort it belongs to...

While we liked it before, the lobby renderings look amazing! IMO, this feels like the completion of PVB. However, they could have been more creative with the name.

What's in a name? A rose is a rose by any other name and just as sweet.
