Is the Wilderness Lodge worth about a 100.00 dollars more a night over a moderate resort?

If your budget allows, I would definately upgrade to the WL. It is BEAUTIUL!! However, I must warn you, if you go deluxe, it will be very hard to go back to value or moderate!!

One suggestion I have is to rent DVC points. I am doing this for my upcoming March trip and I only paid $37/night more (for my time frame) for a deluxe over a value resort. I could not be happier!! There are villas at WL you could rent, if that is somewhere you really want to stay. It is wonderful. I can't wait to go back there.

The pp is correct, once you go deluxe you cant go back. I am going for the second trip to the WL in MAy...........I had taken 7 trips to value prior and one trip to the beach club. Didnt have trouble going back after staying at the BC, but Wl was a whole different story!!

:) I would say UPGRADE if you can! You wont be sorry!
:)

If you are going this summer, it may be less now with the 4/3 promotion extended.
WL is a beautiful resort and we love it. That said, DH and I are planning on going back to WDW to celebrate our 15 year honeymoon (have never had a honeymoon in 15 years) and probably planning on staying at a moderate. We have stayed CBR and would not hesitate to stay there again.
If you can spare the $, I say stay at WL, but nothing wrong with the mods either.
I guess I'm not much help.

I think it is different for everyone. We stayed value once, then have stayed at POFQ and CSR. In 2008 I had to try deluxe so we did WL. We really enjoyed the moderates as much if not more and probably would not do a deluxe again because we just didn't see much difference. We spend most of our time in the parks and doing stuff so the room is not that important to us. The pools we thought were just as good at the moderates and really could not tell much difference in room size. That is just us, I would rather spend my extra money on other stuff.

Thanks for all the respnses I hopefully will make a decision in the next couple of days. It will be either WL, CBR or CSR.

I hope its worth it!!! We just upgrades from CSR to WL for out trip in October!!! Really cant wait as WL is the one Resort we've always dreamed of staying at, yet have never actually seen!!!

Deffinately worth the money if you can afford it. But as others have said it's tough going back to mods after experiencing the deluxe's. WL is a beautiful resort! :)

If it's doable financially, then yes, I think it is totally worth the extra money :thumbsup2. But I am another one who agrees with many other posters that once you stay deluxe it is very hard to go back. Our first stay on Disney property (2002) we stayed at CBR (which we loved)......then in 2003 we tried the BC and have not stayed anything but deluxe since :rolleyes1. We spend alot of time at the resort each trip so the rooms/resort atmosphere are important to us.....as well as transportation (monorail, boat) & dining choices......so paying the extra money for a deluxe resort is worth it to us.

As others have said, if you can do it financially then,

Absolutely!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I love the WL.

My first OP visit was at the WL. My second OP visit was as Pop.
Don't get me wrong Pop was fun and we'd definitely stay there again. However, the WL is beautiful. The transportation is better. It has a more relaxing feel to it. I guess it depends on what type of vacation you are looking for. If you plan to do the parks commando style, then WL would probably not be worth the extra money. But, if you plan to spend time relaxing at the pool or in the room, then WL would definitely pay for itself.

Whichever you choose, you'll have a wonderful time!

I think this entirely depends on your budget and how much time you will be spending at your resort. If you plan on doing the parks everyday from sunrise to sunset then save some money and stay at a moderate. However, if you plan on relaxing more at your hotel then the Wilderness Lodge is absolutely worth the extra money. There is so much to do at the Lodge you could spend an entire vacation simply at the resort and not get bored. You will also enjoy the option of boat transportation, which is a nice relief from using buses all the time. You will also find everything in one building so on poor weather days it is nice to walk downstairs to eat rather than walking outside to the food court at the moderates.

Have fun no matter what you choose!

Is the Wilderness Lodge worth about a 100.00 dollars more a night over a moderate resort?

For some families wher they stay is a big part of their vacation, for others it isn't. Ask yourself why you want to stay there? Does it appeal to you and your family? Will you make use of the extra ammentities? How much time do you spend in your room? Is there enough flexibility in the budget to spend the extra 100.00 per night? Is there somewhere else I need or want to spend the money?

All that being said, I LOVE the WL, but I won't spend the extra money if I'm not sure I can spend the extra or not comfortable with spending the extra money. You're going to Disney and you're going to have an excellent time no matter where you stay! Have a great trip!!! pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust:

We were faced with the same decision for our trip this July. I originally wanted CSR but it was booked for our week, convention probably. So I went with the WL and it was a little over $300 more for the whole week. This is because value season for the Deluxes starts July 19 and that is still summer rates for the Mods. Then on Monday the 4/3 deal was extended for my dates and we nocked about $700 off the package price even though we had to switch to a woods view. So check out all your prices, WL might not be too much more. We decided to go for it because we haven't been in two years, and we really want this to be an awesome trip.

IMO, the room alone isnt worth the extra money. These are the things that I think are worth the extra money:

LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION
The Lobby
Inside entrance to Rooms
Balconies
All the little nooks and crannies for the kids to explore/play cards/watch people
The boat to MK
The pool
WCC
The floating parade at night

Now that said, after our last 2 trips staying at the WL, we are staying at ASMu this time because we have 5 people and are trying the Family Suites. We are excited to go to a value and although we will miss the boat to MK from the WL the most, I will like having the extra room and 2 bathrooms!

I think it is. We love the WL, and would stay there again in a heartbeat. Of course if the $$$ really matters, then moderates are fine as well. But, we fell in love with the WL, and cannot wait to stay there again! We also enjoy staying at the mods. POFQ is our favorite mod so far.

I have stayed at the WL x2 and Pop last week. Not a thing wrong with POP... and it was perfect for a quick trip. But these are the reasons for booking the 4/3 deal for WL end of June:
1) room larger and I can open the curtain and have privacy as the balcony provides some- at Pop, people could see right in.
2) bigger bed (Dh might be able to join us)
3) the walk to the bus is relatively short-- and a majority is inside=AC;
4) food court at POP was great but it wasn't relaxing place to eat--- last summer we would go bakc to the resort (WL)for lunch (instead of CS at a park) and it was relaxing to sit and eat, or in the room. It is a hike to the room with food, drinks ect
5) general atmosphere relaxing
6) Mk our favorite park and can stay late-- and get to bed much quicker (bus from MK to WL <4mins)
7) option of a sit down place for breakfast (WCC) or even room service.
8) room clean at pop--- no issues but boring. I love the little touches at WL... I want to play in the park but relax, feel pampered at WL
