...like it is me??!!!

When flights were $209 O/W YHZ-MCO, I thought..."nah, they'll go lower"...

..and they haven't...

So now that O/W is up to $260, I'm still thinking.."they'll go lower"...

LOL!!:teeth:
Help me..is it crazy to pay $2600 for the 4 of us YHZ-MCO for Feb 5 - 27? Canjet isn't an option for us - not after I called and the CSR said, "No, we don't make arrangements with other airlines for our passengers...we will gladly refund your $$ at the airport, though." (Which would be fine if it were just DH and I...but with the kids...nope:))

The memory of last year's fare is sadly...a memory:( $1500 was just too wonderful...

I'm going to have to do it, aren't I?

*sigh* Pixie dust if you're watching too!!!

Hey, nice to see a fellow Nova Scotian crying over airfares. I am not alone.
I wouldn't get too panicked yet though. I watched airfares last year for a friend and it wasn't until much later in the year, the rates got better. However, this year with the price of oil....who knows.

Could be worse, we could have been going this past week and got our flight cancelled due to the fog !!! Hope those renovations are done soon.....

Yes bonkers here too. I'm near Toronto and discovered the luxury of cheaper flights out of Baffalo a few years ago. Sadly those flights are still hovering or have gone up as well.

SWA just did a massive discount from Buffalo to Orlando for $49 each way BUT it was only booking until Sept 29. :( So now I'm going absolutley crazy  wondering if they'll extend into Oct when we plan to go. I'll be so bummed out if they don't. We've been spoiled now with excellent fares and that's one of the major reasons we've been able to enjoy more trips in the last few years.

Well, I'll jump onto my pal mbb's thread here.

I know some of you NS-ians have mentioned either driving down, or flying into Logan and then flying further as an option. I wanted to share that JetBlue has just extended it's schedule out to May 2 2006.

Hope it helps. I just booked our flights home at the end of our winter break, and they were a little pricier than I'd like, but still $75US cheaper than Delta Song.

Good Luck all!

:wave2: Hi everyone,
I was going crazy just like you over the flight prices for 4 from Calgary to Orlando $3031. They kept going up & up, then a little decrease. I then had a post from a diser tell me about the airmiles special if you have a gold westjet Mosaik mastercard. So now I can fly for 1400miles pp thats a huge savings! Maybe this could apply to you, check it out. Good Luck :flower:

not alone... :teeth:

Thanks for the heads up, Deb:) Prices for us BOS-MCO are great! $1341USD...but, we're still left on the hook for the YHZ-BOS portion...and DH doesn't want to have to drive to BOS in February (wonder why!!;)) Adding on an AC portion would pop us well over $3000 total...

And if I'm paying over 3 grand, I'm flying out of Sydney, NS for $200 more!! LOL!!

We don't have a Mosiak card..but great idea, DISnJAN!:)

Yep that is insane to pay that much to fly to Florida. I can't even bring myself to pay 49.00 each way to MCO I would ratehr save the 1000 bucks US trhat it would cost our family of 5 and drive down. It only cost us 170 US for gas there and back in May. You should also look at the Gold Travel Visa from TD way better rewards and can be used on any airline not specific ones and no blackout dates.

Wow you're brave :rotfl: !!!!! I'm not sure I could handle the 22 hour ride with my kids :rotfl2: How was it for you? For us we've had such cheap flights in the past, it's just been better for us to pay the money and be there sooner. This last time was just $645 CANADIAN for all 4 tickets on Delta no less (out of Buffalo).

Our kids are great in the car they have been making the trek down since they were about 8 months old so they are used to it. They like to sit and colour and read and play games no problems at all from any of them.

I just checked expedia.ca and they must have followed suit with SWA and droped their prices for Sept as well.

$644.36 CAD total. This is what we paid last time flights are C$161.09
Buffalo to Orlando.

Why, oh why are we flying in Oct????? :confused3

I'm with you on this one. Moncton to MCO was 229 each way and I've watched it go up to $280 each way. I must say though last year I booked at $209 in June and later in the year we saw sales as low as $179, sooo there is still hope!!

We usually go down in February during a school vacation. This year our reservation is for 2/18-26 and I have also been checking airfares. Last year, I got my best airfare from BOS-MCO by purchasing in September. Flew American. But then, I live in Massachusetts, so my choices are to fly from either BOS, PVD, MHT or BDL....we're about equidistant and are very fickle for the right price. Keep checking Orbitz and Expedia...and of course the airlines website. I'm sure something good will come up.....pixie dust to you!

Another fellow Nova Scotian here. Last May we bought our tickets for March Break (past) and it was $1590.00 CDN for 4 of us :flower: . This year, you might as well double it. There is no way we can afford it :guilty: . I am constantly checking airfare but have come to the conclusion that we may have to forgo our "Winter" trip and maybe drive to Boston and fly out of there, later in the Fall. We are not opposed to driving the whole distance (we have done it numerous times in the summer) but to drive in Feb/March would be alittle unpredictable. :confused3 .

The the prices in N.B. are not much better. They are around $630 taxes and fees in from Fredericton(YFC) for February/March. I can get them for $330 from Bangor(BGR), Maine. :confused3 Let me me do the math, I think it is off to Bangor for this year. The best part is no Customs at the airports. :cool1:

I also have been watching the rates from YHZ. Not very impressive. Last year I booked in June for april and paid $400., taxes included. That was great. Driving is not really an option unless we cut our stay. We ususally anly have 10-12 days. In April the weather can still be unpredictable. I keep hopeing for a miracle that I dn't think will happen this year.

I would be willing to even pay in the $500 range from Fredericton on Delta, for the convenience of flying close to home. You notice I didn't say Air Canada, thats a whole other story :sad2:

at Aeroplan;)

The problem was, we were trying to coordinate specific flights with family that already have their travel booked.

And by some miracle, those flights popped up on Aeroplan with availability. :goodvibes So we've got YHZ-YUL-MCO Feb 5-27

Am I checking luggage, though?
:teeth:

Am I checking luggage, though?

Well, you could, Mary Beth.....you just need to make sure that you have an onsuitcase GPS! ;) Is there layover time for you to be calling out to your lost one?

I need a remote control like that guy in the VISA commercial...press the button and his luggage comes home..."If life were like that, you wouldn't need VISA" LOL!!!

I find myself checking websites several times per day, "just in case they had a quick special". I think I am being optimistic! :rotfl2: We paid around $400 each taxes in last year from Halifax. The year before, we paid around $600 from Sydney--this year they are around $650 from Halifax! I did check with airmiles and we could get 3 seats but it was still going to cost over $1200 with fees and the one other seat. I keep thinking I will get a decent deal and I should save my airmiles for a time when I may be financially tight and may really need those airmiles to make the Disney trek. Maybe I should bite the bullet and purchase--or maybe I'll check for the next few days :teeth: . Let's hope for a break on prices soon!
